I tellya what Stone Pony, Ah luv Bizarro Wednesday...
QUOTE (Tex @ Aug 20, 2009 -> 08:29 AM) For most of my history as a Sox fan, this is as good as it gets. This team will be in the race all the way, and I honestly can not ask for more than that. By late August for at least half of the last 30 years, it was time to think about the September call ups and next year. Hell, for at least a third of those year, in your heart you knew in May the team was going nowhere. Very true. Those late 80s teams were completely horrible. I was enjoying the end of summer vacation and waiting for the TV season to begin right about now.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Aug 19, 2009 -> 02:01 PM) Willie Bloomquist is a rather annoying little player. With his 43 pitch at bat. There are quite a lot of them in this division.

Griffey on playing for the White Sox
It's nice to know that when he's enshrined in Cooperstown with his Seattle hat, his plaque will say "Chicago, AL 2008" on it. That's pretty cool.

East Coast baseball bias
All 3 BBTN episodes over the weekend spent at least 15 minutes covering the Red Sox/Yankees game. If that's not obvious, I don't know what is. Yeah, for MLB Network.

White Sox Acquire Alex Rios Off Waivers
The upside and downside to adding Rios http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...?obref=obinsite 14 players in CF since 2005? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I have them all in no particular order: Owens, Mackowiak, Anderson, Ramirez, Wise, Griffey, Erstad, Swisher, Lillibridge, Podsednik, Andy Gonzalez, Terrero, Sweeney, Kotsay

But will the funeral be in Shermer...?
His movies define the 80s. I met him once at the Fireside Bowl on Fullerton. His son was playing in a band. True story. RIP.

QUOTE (Allsox @ Aug 6, 2009 -> 01:49 PM) Kotsay has done nothing but smoke the ball all over the place. I really like him being that lefty off the bench against the tough righty closers the Sox will face down the stretch. Yep. Finally they are starting to fall.
