....cause this worked so well the first time around..... The Obama administration is engaged in a broad push to make more home loans available to people with weaker credit, an effort that officials say will help power the economic recovery but that skeptics say could open the door to the risky lending that caused the housing crash in the first place. President Obama’s economic advisers and outside experts say the nation’s much-celebrated housing rebound is leaving too many people behind, including young people looking to buy their first homes and individuals with credit records weakened by the recession In response, administration officials say they are working to get banks to lend to a wider range of borrowers by taking advantage of taxpayer-backed programs — including those offered by the Federal Housing Administration — that insure home loans against default. Housing officials are urging the Justice Department to provide assurances to banks, which have become increasingly cautious, that they will not face legal or financial recriminations if they make loans to riskier borrowers who meet government standards but later default. Officials are also encouraging lenders to use more subjective judgment in determining whether to offer a loan and are seeking to make it easier for people who owe more than their properties are worth to refinance at today’s low interest rates, among other steps. Obama pledged in his State of the Union address to do more to make sure more Americans can enjoy the benefits of the housing recovery, but critics say encouraging banks to lend as broadly as the administration hopes will sow the seeds of another housing disaster and endanger taxpayer dollars. “If that were to come to pass, that would open the floodgates to highly excessive risk and would send us right back on the same path we were just trying to recover from,” said Ed Pinto, a resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute and former top executive at mortgage giant Fannie Mae. Administration officials say they are looking only to allay unnecessary hesitation among banks and encourage safe lending to borrowers who have the financial wherewithal to pay. “There’s always a tension that you have to take seriously between providing clarity and rules of the road and not giving any opportunity to restart the kind of irresponsible lending that we saw in the mid-2000s,” said a senior administration official who was not authorized to speak on the record. The administration’s efforts come in the midst of a housing market that has been surging for the past year but that has been delivering most of the benefits to established homeowners with high credit scores or to investors who have been behind a significant number of new purchases. “If you were going to tell people in low-income and moderate-income communities and communities of color there was a housing recovery, they would look at you as if you had two heads,” said John Taylor, president of the National Community Reinvestment Coalition, a nonprofit housing organization. “It is very difficult for people of low and moderate incomes to refinance or buy homes.”

WTF???!!!!! It's bad enough I have to put up with the annoying Chris Hardwick promos during the Walking Dead but now I have to put up with them during Orphan Black???? He's almost as annoying as Ryan Seacrest........ Orphan Black I thought was pretty good. Should be regular watching for me.

Anyone ever been to the Logan Square Auditorium to see a show??? It looks pretty small from the few pics I've seen online. I'm headed there for a show in a couple weeks and was curious about the place. I have the strange feeling that parking will be the biggest headache so I plan on leaving plenty early.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 22, 2013 -> 08:36 AM) Why don't the Mariners shut down Felix Hernandez at the All-Star break every year? The second half of the year is completely meaningless for them, there is no point in him pitching. Really??? last i checked it's a lot easier for a team to come back with half a season to go as opposed to one game left.... -
Well damn......paint the man green and call him The Hulk...... Whether or not WWE wrestling is fake, what former superstar Chris "The Masterpiece" Masters did was very, very real. The still-massive wrestler was called to his mother's home after an unhinged neighbor reportedly barricaded himself inside, threatening to torch the place if anyone came in. Masters attempted to talk the man down, but shortly after the police arrived, the man allegedly lit the house on fire. Masters flew into Beast Mode, yanking a tree out of the ground (WITH HIS BARE HANDS!!) and ramming it through a window before pulling his mother to safety. "AHole got his from me!!! And is in jail as I type this." Masters wrote on Twitter. "Moms resting comfortably with me at my place."

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Mar 20, 2013 -> 08:50 AM) Yeah one of the best episodes of Justified in the entire series. This whole season has been prety damn good. It was nice to see Boyd realize (even for a second) that he may not be as untouchable as he thinks he is........

Debating what TV series to start watching now that i'm just about caught up with all my others. I was thinking about starting Psych on USA. I remember seeing one show in season 1 and i wasn't very impressed. i see the ads all the time and it does seem tobe a bit more entertaining than i remember it being. Any watchers of it have an opinion????

QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 10, 2013 -> 07:40 AM) Too bad Timberlake can't join the SNL cast for a year. He kills it everytime. Makes you wonder why though......it it the writing they do for him or his comedy skills or a combo of both? I don't watch that often but i do like the clips i see of JT on the show. I have a feeling that if JT was there all year it would only take a month or so before he was stuck doing some lame sketch trying to get over a 'catch phrase'.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Mar 3, 2013 -> 10:22 PM) Caught up on Americans, Shameless, and Californication, is The Following still worth watching? I think I'm caught up on Californication as well...just finished the season with Callie and the rapper. not sure if that means i'm caught up or not.. Last season of Dexter I saw was the one with Julia Stiles. i know the next one was ripped by everyone I know including this board. Wonder if I would really miss anything if i just skipped it and went on to the next one. The Americans is still hitting it out of the park and when it's on it's game...nothing on tv beats Justified......heck....even a so-so episode of Justified is better than most of tv. Also just finished 2nd season of White Collar......

Justified continues another great season......

I was online and bored the other day so found the Atari 2600 game Adventure online. My 10 year old watched me play it a few times and i let her try it. The kid is now obsessed with the game. I'm not sure what to call it but i sure do get a kick of sitting on the couch and hearing the sound or the dragons roar..her being eaten and her protests of "AWWW.......come on!" and "That's so not fair!!" Takes me back to the good old days........my friends and I played the heck out of that cartridge.....

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 8, 2013 -> 11:18 AM) I enjoyed the premiere but was let down by the second episode. They needed to do a better job explaining why the leads were so pro-communist and anti-american to start. I feel like they did the opposite - they established that both had s***ty lives at home, became spies, live nicely in America but still want to bring death to democracy and capitalism. How does that make sense? Also, when you start the show with one of these people openly questioning whether to defect, their undercover missions become less important and the audience loses interest. Why do I care what they're doing when one of them doesn't really care? Why are they risking it all? And then Keri Russell's character at the end of this episode basically said the same thing as her husband in the first episode - yeah, i love my kids, maybe this isn't worth it. Hey daughter, let's get your ear pierced like these other American girls! So neither really believes in what they're doing anymore, they both are accepting of American values, and yet we're supposed to believe that they'll risk their lives for these crazy spy missions? Meh. They lost me. (and that's ignoring the really convenient FBI agent neighbor storyline) Actually IIRC the first episode it established that the husband is ready to abandon their assignment and KR is very pro-motherland. Maybe over the course of the show they will come closer to some middle ground.

SIGH.....2-3 over last five games......28-56 from July on......and the kicker is to wind up in a three way tie for first with Oak getting into the playoffs (I'm assuming cause of head to head tie breakers since i don't see any tiebreaker games) Good luck to all in the playoffs.......let the firesale/rebuilding in LA begin. QUOTE (juddling @ Feb 1, 2013 -> 04:45 PM) Three of my starters have ERA's of 5.75 or more........ugh. Thank God I'm hitting this year.......... And the LA Angels are having their annual July/August meltdown......18-34 and counting. Went from 12 games over .500 to 4 under. Thankfully noone else in the division is doing any better..... -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 2, 2013 -> 12:02 PM) I've never met anyone, male or female, who gave it a shot and didn't wind up thinking it was great. I'm glad you are enjoying it! Hi Steve.....nice to meet you......
