QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 8, 2007 -> 04:05 PM) And if he'd gotten caught there would have been holy hell to pay. I can only speak for myself but i've never gotten mad at Ozzie or any Sox manager for being overly-aggressive. I would rather lose by getting a guy thrown out trying to steal then to not be able to get hm in from scoring position with only 1 out. -

I kind of agree with whitesoxfan101 on this one though. I would have had Owens running as well on Martinez. Sox already had two SB on him and IIRC neither throw was close to getting the runner. Plus the fact it was a night where the Sox hitters weren't hitting a 'hittable' pitcher in Westbrook. They only manage two hits all night...if Owens could get 2B. They could have tied the game without a hit. just a couple sac flies and it's a new ball game. I think the odds were in the Sox favor when it came to stealing. -

Heck...watching that 9th inning yesterday...I'm still having trouble believing that a saw a Sox player get down a successful Sac. bunt. -
Boy...I'd really hate to be Batboy's press agent right now!!!!!!!!!

I think it's great and the newspeople in general should realize that it was in fun. They knew who she was offered a press pass 4 times and turned it down so they decided to play a joke on her. I thought it was funny.

LONDON - As the NBA grapples with a betting scandal, tennis must now confront a potential gambling scam of its own. Officials on Friday were investigating suspicious betting patterns on a match involving top-seeded Nikolay Davydenko of Russia, who retired with an injury against a low-ranked opponent at an ATP tournament in Poland. In an unprecedented move, British online gambling company Betfair voided all bets Friday placed on Thursday's second-round match at the Prokom Open in Sopot between the defending champion and No. 4-ranked Davydenko and No. 87-ranked Martin Vassallo Arguello of Argentina. Betfair said it received about $7 million in bets on the match _ 10 times the usual amount _ and most of the money was on Arguello to win, even after Davydenko won the first set 6-2. The tennis probe comes in the wake of the scandal involving former NBA referee Tim Donaghy. He is the target of an FBI investigation for allegedly betting on games, including some he officiated, during the last two seasons. He resigned July 9. Arguello won the second set 6-3 and was leading 2-1 in the third when the Russian retired. Davydenko said he aggravated a left foot injury in the second set. He received medical attention from a tournament trainer before deciding to quit. "I don't think that he (Davydenko) has something to do with this," Arguello said Friday. "I was playing against him, but he was playing also with an injury, and that's all that I know about the match, and that's also what I felt in the match. I felt nothing else." Betfair, which has had an agreement with the ATP since 2003 to share information on any irregular betting activity, said it was concerned with the volume of wagers coming in on Arguello from the start. "We think the market quite clearly wasn't fair," Betfair managing director Mark Davies said. "The prices seemed very odd. As a result, in the interest of fairness and integrity and in consultation with the ATP, we have decided to void the market and return all stakes to (bettors)." It's the first time the company has taken such a step in any sport. Davies said Betfair would turn over its betting records for the ATP to investigate. "The ATP takes issues surrounding gambling extremely seriously," the men's tour said in a statement. "We are committed to ensuring our sport remains corruption free and have strict rules in place governing this area. "In addition we have memorandums of understanding with U.K. and European betting companies that ensures information pertaining to any ATP Tour match that may look suspicious, based upon gambling patterns, is shared with us immediately." ATP officials said Friday that Davydenko had left Poland. "Normally I try to fight to the end but it was very painful and I may have done even more damage by trying to finish the match," Davydenko said Thursday after the match. "Since the beginning of Monday I've had a problem with my left toes. Today that became a problem with my foot." Since losing in the fourth round at Wimbledon to Marcos Baghdatis, Davydenko lost three straight first-round matches _ to Gael Monfils at the Swiss Open, Florent Serra at the Dutch Open and Gilles Simon at the Croatia Open _ before beating Andrei Pavel, 6-3, 6-4 in the opening round in Poland. Arguello lost 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 on Friday in the quarterfinals to another Argentine player, Jose Acasuso. "I saw Davydenko playing very well the first set, and I saw also that he had problems with his feet, and that was true, he was not inventing that, so it's difficult to suspect him," Arguello told The Associated Press by telephone from his hotel room in Sopot. At Wimbledon in 2006, Betfair reported irregular patterns surrounding a first-round match between British wild card Richard Bloomfield and Carlos Berlocq of Argentina. Berlocq, who was ranked 170 places higher than Bloomfield, lost 6-1, 6-2, 6-2. Most of the bets placed were on Berlocq to lose. However, no wrongdoing was detected.

Catherine Zeta-Jones admitted to her desire to appear nude in a movie and has been looking for the right film for her naked debut. According to M&C, Catherine said, “Nudity just isn’t a big deal for me. The reason I haven’t done it so far is because I’ve never had a script that justices it come my way.” Man....it's about time too. That old wrinkled prune, Michael Douglas, shouldn't be able to keep that body all to himself. Greedy bastard....lol (I'm trying to bring Sexyback....lol )

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. - Denver Broncos linebacker Warrick Holdman was hospitalized with a spinal cord concussion following a collision with a teammate at training camp Thursday. Holdman was carted off the field strapped to a backboard and taken by ambulance to Sky Ridge Medical Center, where he was being kept overnight for observation, team spokesman Jim Saccomano said. Holdman temporarily lost feeling in his extremities but had movement in his arms and legs by the time he was taken off the field. ``He went numb for about 30, 40 seconds out there. He got his feeling back, which is a good sign,'' coach Mike Shanahan said. ``... It was a good sign when he could move his fingers, move his toes and was able to sit up. We'll keep our fingers crossed.'' Holdman appeared to hit the crown of his helmet on another player's helmet and crumpled to the grass midway through the morning workout. He was rolled over onto his back after a minute, but stayed down for eight minutes.

There is a couple different videos on YouTube of the Shiek snapping at different autograph shows. I remember a few years ago at one in Chicago he had to be restrained by security because he attacked someone else. (i didn't recognize the someone else).

I would hate to see him go personally...i wouldn't be terribly upset with Mack starting in one of the corner OF spots next year.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 02:18 PM) So much for a problem at DT this year, eh? This defense is gonna be sick. Our SB starting safeties are now backups to Archuleta and Brown, we locked up our pro bowl caliber corners, Anyone want to take bets on which game knocks Mike Brown out for the year??????

Wednesday was great because it was something to look forward to during the middle of the week. [/color]hmm...forgive my geekdom, but wasn't it a switch to Friday nights that killed the original Star Trek???

I've never caught any of these trainwreck shows though i admit it's always interesting to read the list of "celebs" that they get on these shows. I guess one of the new ones has been talking about his housemates.... Although VH1 has not yet made an official announcement on the air date or cast for Season 7 of the popular reality series "The Surreal Life", professional gambler Phil Hellmuth is confirmed as a contestant and has revealed his fellow cast members. Season 7 will feature wrestling legend "Macho Man" Randy Savage, actor Dabney Coleman, actress Nikki McKibbin, world renowned psychic Miss Cleo, commedian Carrot Top, and Phil Hellmuth" Personally....i think Hellmuth is a di*k and would love to see the Macho Man pound on him. I met the Macho Man before he was the Macho Man when he palyed in the Cardnials organization with a cousin. He was a nice guy back then. Carrot Top I is one i've never found all that funny and Miss Cleo is a fraud. Unless they can get another hot chick on there to swim with McKibbin or have some violence towards Phil (imagine getting your butt kicked by Carrot Top..lol) i don't see me watching this show.

This is a hot story. Reports say that there is a long standing animosity between former SNL cast member Jon Lovitz and performance artist/attention whore drug addict Andy Dick. Lovitz allegedly blames Andy Dick for the death of his SNL castmate, comedian Phil Hartman. The story goes that at a party five months prior to his wife shooting him, Andy offered the then sober Mrs. Hartman some coke. She accepted, and five months later it was bloody and all over CNN. Lovitz took over for Hartman on "Newsradio" after his death, and seems to have had several run-ins with Andy concerning Phil Hartman since then. He claims that Andy once told him that 'I put the "Phil Hartman hex" on you - you're the next one to die.' That's charming. Andy Dick's a mess, and seems to annoy a lot of people. Which is probably why nebbishy Jon Lovitz finally pummeled him last week. Laugh Factory owner Jamie Masada, who witnessed the assault, said, "Jon picked Andy up by the head and smashed him into the bar four or five times, and blood started pouring out of his nose." Lovitz told Page Six, "All the comedians are glad I did it because this guy is a [bleep]hole."
