  2. GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -- A Gwinnett County mother says she wants answers and action after she and her baby were kicked off a plane. Kate Penland said she was glad to board the plane in Houston after an 11-hour delay to visit her father in Oklahoma. But she said a rude and aggressive flight attendant caused her to get to Oklahoma a day late. Penland thinks her 19-month-old son, Garren, has a bubbly personality. But Penland said when they were aboard a Continental Express plane, a flight attendant became annoyed by Garren’s personality when he kept saying three words. “As we started taxiing, he started saying ‘Bye, bye plane,’ said Penland. “At the end of her speech, she leaned over the gentleman beside me and said, ‘It’s not funny anymore. You need to shut your baby up.’ In disbelief, Penland asked the woman if she was kidding. It was then, Penland said, the flight attendant went too far. “She then said, ‘You know, it’s called baby Benadryl. And I said, 'Well, I'm not going to drug my child so you have a pleasant flight.' Penland said when the other passengers began speaking up on her behalf, the flight attendant got angrier and soon announced they were turning around and that Penland and Garren were going to be taken off the plane. “I was crying, I was upset and I was thinking, ‘What am I going to do? I don’t have anything with me, I don’t have anymore diapers for the baby, no juice, no milk,” said Penland. The young mother said she later learned the flight attendant told the pilot that she had threatened her. Penland said that never happened. Express Jet Airlines released a statement that said, "We received Ms. Penland’s letter expressing her concerns and intend to investigate its contents." A fellow passenger told Channel 2's Rachel Kim none of the other passengers had problems with Garren and that Penland never threatened the flight attendant. Penland is considering legal action.
  3. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 09:12 PM) he's been off balanced with his swing all year. He is finally fixing that and is starting to come around. I expect a big second half out of him and if so, I don't see him losing too much money, if any. I hope you're right because he's killing 2 of my fantasy teams. LOL

I hit Blockbuster over the weekend and since i hadn't been there since November i figured there would be something i wanted to see. Man was i wrong......i did however pick up the latest (and hopefully last) Rocky movie and you know.....it was a pretty good movie. Heck..the boxing and training weren't even really featured much in the movie and it was still pretty good. I remember when it came out the rating were pretty good and i was skeptical.....i was wrong. Rocky Balboa....two more thumbs up!!!!!
  5. a couple more details..... FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. (AP) -- Pro wrestler Chris Benoit canceled a pay-per-view appearance at the "Vengeance" event in Houston because of "personal reasons" a day before he, his wife and their 7-year-old son were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide. Details of the deaths "are going to prove a little bizarre" when released to the public, Fayette County District Attorney Scott Ballard told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Autopsies were scheduled Tuesday by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. ADVERTISEMENT Authorities were investigating the deaths at a secluded Fayette County home as a murder-suicide and were not seeking any suspects. Investigators believe Benoit (pronounced ben-WAH) killed his wife, 43-year-old Nancy, and son Daniel during the weekend and then himself Monday. The bodies were found Monday afternoon in three separate rooms of the house, off a gravel road about two miles from the Whitewater Country Club. Ballard told The Associated Press a gun was not used in any of the deaths, but he would not say how the three died. "We're pretty sure we know, but we want to confirm it with the crime lab," Ballard said early Tuesday. Fayette County Coroner C.J. Mowell did not return calls seeking comment. The answering service for his funeral home said he was out of town. Authorities also declined to say whether drugs or steroids were found inside the house. "We're not releasing any information as far as what was located inside the house," sheriff's Sgt. Keith Whiteside said Tuesday. Asked about the condition of the interior of the house, Whiteside said investigators found "nothing really out of the ordinary." He said Benoit was found in the home's weight room, his wife in an office and the son in an upstairs bedroom. Whiteside said toxicology tests could take up to a week or longer to complete. World Wrestling Entertainment said on its Web site that it asked authorities to check on Benoit and his family after being alerted by friends who received "several curious text messages sent by Benoit early Sunday morning." The WWE, based in Stamford, Conn., said it had been asked by authorities not to release further information on the deaths. Benoit was born in Montreal. He was a former world heavyweight champion, Intercontinental champion and held several tag-team titles over his career. He was known by several names including "The Canadian Crippler." "WWE extends its sincerest thoughts and prayers to the Benoit family's relatives and loved ones in this time of tragedy," the company said in a statement on its Web site. "He was like a family member to me, and everyone in my family is taking it real hard," said Bret Hart, a five-time champion with the now-defunct World Wrestling Federation. Man...i'm really hoping the 'roids weren't involved. He was my favorite and one of the few wrestlers I have personally met that wasn't a douche. Chris..you will be missed.
  6. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 07:31 PM) http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/story?id=3305652&page=1 Just wow....lengths at some people will go. "The Hagers are trying to figure out how life went off track for their teenage daughter, Windy." Probably started the day they named her Windy!!!!
  7. Frank: "Is that a bat between your legs or are you happy to see me???" Barry: " I could ask you the same question!"
  8. You know.....now that Vinnie is "gone" I think the time is right for a hostile takeover by Donald Trump. He could come in and clean house.....start by firing Steph and replacing her with his own hot daughter. That conflict would of course build over the course of a month and end with a 'pudding' match on Raw. I'd put the above in green but heck......with some of the writers they have....it could probably happen.
  9. Craziest story I'll hear all day???? HA! I'll tell you what's crazy..... There was this one time.......at band camp.........
  10. During a pre-game interview today KW was asked about MacDougal and Aardsma and how long they were expected to be in AAA. KW replied that he's been getting 20-25 calls a day from other GM's asking the same question and if the Sox are ready to give up on these guys yet. Am i the only one who finds it really hard to believe that Kenny's phone is ringing off the hook about Mac and Aardsma???? Heck...as long as he's gonna strain credibility...he might as well tell us that Sisco has gotten all straightened out and is ready to help the big club.

  12. RENO, Nev. -- The Golden Baseball League settled on punishment Friday for a public address announcer who was ejected from a minor league game for inciting criticism of an umpire: spending an inning in the ump's shoes. Mike Murray, the announcer for the independent league's Reno Silver Sox, was ejected Thursday night between the seventh and eighth innings of Reno's 6-5 loss to the Chico Outlaws at Peccole Park. Home plate umpire Tyler Ramsey tossed him and ordered the P.A. system shut down after Murray played a sound bite of a Bob Uecker line from the 1989 movie "Major League" -- "Personally, I think we got hosed on that call" -- following a close call against the home team at first base. After reviewing the ejection report, GBL Commissioner Kevin Outcalt determined the appropriate disciplinary action would be for Murray to work the first inning of Friday night's game between the two teams as the third base umpire. "We don't think this form of discipline has been used before but we think the punishment fits the crime so we're going to give it a try," Outcalt told The Associated Press. "The employee is a good employee but he needs to get some more perspective from the umpire's point of view so he understands how some of these things are reacted to," he said. "He has to apologize to the umpire crew and join the crew for the first inning in full regalia." Murray admitted before Friday night's game he was "a little nervous about it." "I never even called a T-ball game before," he told AP. The local radio personality whose on-air name is Mike Anthony said he didn't mean any disrespect to the umpires. "I didn't think I crossed any boundaries, but apparently I did. Honestly, I was just kind of floored by the whole thing. I had no idea I could be ejected, but I guess it is well within his right to toss me," he said. Outcalt said it's standard procedure to consider whether some sort of sanction is warranted following any ejection. "But typically it's for a player or manager. You don't get many ejecting the PA announcer -- in fact, it's our first one," he said. "It's certainly within the umpire's rights if he feels the announcer is making inappropriate comments about players or officials or inciting the fans," he said. And Ramsey "did it in style, turning to the press box, pointing at the announcer and throwing him out of the stadium," Outcalt said. The commissioner said they've put some safeguards in place in the event Murray blows a call. "The other umpires will have the ability to override his decision to protect the integrity of the game." Murray had been warned about his conduct last season after San Diego Surf Dawgs manager Terry Kennedy "took offense at sound bites directed at his players and ended up storming the press box," Outcalt said. "That's the last time any players have been the focus of any of the humorous sound bites that Mike has a bag full of," he said. Outcalt said the announcers are employees of the local teams and are charged with "bringing some fun and liveliness to the games." "Mike does a very good job of that. This is an instance where he just went further than he should. He realizes it and so it is something we are going to correct." Copyright 2007 by The Associated Press
  13. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Jun 8, 2007 -> 08:39 PM) neither would i because i'd be a rich man after i sued her for all that hotel jack. *puts on neck brace* my thoughts exactly. That's why you would think that Paris' parents would be overly concerned about her driving drunk and out partying all the time. Having heard those two in the press time and time again...you can tell they look down on most of us and you would think they wouldn't want to give up the cash to the first person Paris hurts or kills.
  14. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Jun 8, 2007 -> 08:23 PM) Paris has never been held accountable for anything...It's too bad the first time is prison instead of a grounding, but I think this will definitely serve as a deterrent for her in the future. I'm willing to bet within 2 months of her getting out, there will be video of her getting out of a club, stumbling around, and getting behind the wheel. As weird as it is to say....i wouldn't mind if she ran into me while driving
  15. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jun 8, 2007 -> 07:16 PM) I was just going to post this...God what a sheltered life she has led. Calling for her mommy. Too funny. I'm telling you...it's gonna come out that mommy pulled some strings and/or paid a few people to get her out of jail. They just seem to be those kind of people who think they can buy their way out of trouble. If Mom and Dad were smart they would tell Paris to suck it up and do the time....but we all know THAT ain't happening.
  16. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Jun 8, 2007 -> 07:02 PM) I think they should have given her a cellmate, it probably will make it easier for her. They can give her some young 20 year old non-violent offender. Martha Stewart wasn't in isolation Well...her own doctor says she having psych. problems so maybe she should be isolated in the psych. wing. or i guess they could make her serve her time stuck in a Motel 6
  17. Sen. Jeff Sessions released a list of 20 of the biggest loopholes in the bill, including this one, which is just baffling: * Loophole 8 – Gang Members Are Eligible: Instead of ensuring that members of violent gangs such as MS 13 are deported after coming out of the shadows to apply for amnesty, the bill will allow violent gang members to get amnesty as long as they “renounce” their gang membership on their application. [see p. 289: 34-36]. Yeah!!! That will work --Link to article
  18. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 8, 2007 -> 03:44 PM) Agree. Apparently now there is some bru-ha-ha going on in the court room because she has been allowed to apprear via telephone. and i guess it was another decision that the judge is supposed to make that the sherriff's office made. The judge has sent a police car to Hilton's house to drag her sorry butt into court. I swear i would love to hear that Kathy Hilton bribed someone to get Paris out of jail and has to go in herself.
  19. MLB website says he's got a great fastball but rest of pitches need work. I guess it's gonna be another 'power arm' for the Sox.
