When he applied for a part-time job as a truck driver for the city of Chicago, Jerome Felske admitted he had a criminal past. He acknowledged having six criminal convictions -- one burglary and five thefts. At the time, three years ago, City Hall had an unwritten policy against hiring ex-cons. But Felske had clout: He was helping register voters for the Hispanic Democratic Organization, then a powerful patronage army delivering votes for Mayor Daley. Felske soon worked up to a full-time trucking job with the Department of Streets and Sanitation. Then, last January, he was fired. It wasn't because he'd been a thief. It was because the city inspector general found Felske had been more of a thief than he'd admitted on his job application: Felske had been convicted 22 times going back to the 1960s, not just the six convictions he owned up to. City officials called it "fraud." But two months ago fortune again smiled on Felske: He got his job back. Firing was too harsh a punishment, the city's Human Resources Board ruled, finding that the city's lawyers couldn't prove Felske intentionally left out the other 16 criminal convictions. Felske, 64, didn't lie about his past, his lawyer, Joseph Spingola, successfully argued; he just didn't remember every last crime. "I challenge anybody that is here today to try to recall their grocery list from only two weeks ago," Spingola, a former chairman of the city's Zoning Board of Appeals under Daley, told the board. "Essentially, he is being punished here for not having the best memory of anybody around.'' In a rare reversal, the board put Felske back on the payroll in September, turning his firing into a nine-month unpaid suspension. The suspension cost Felske about $30,000 in lost wages, according to Spingola, who says he might seek back pay for his client. City lawyers don't plan to appeal the decision reached by the three members of the Daley-appointed board -- attorney Enrico Mirabelli, the Rev. Lucius Hall and Don Turner, a former Chicago Federation of Labor president. "Every case is decided on the merits and the facts,'' says Mirabelli. "There is no special treatment.'' Heroin habit Felske declined to comment. The Bridgeport resident was on the city payroll once before -- in the early 1980s, he was a Streets and Sanitation laborer. His crimes were fueled by a heroin habit, according to city records. Felske, who spent several years in prison, told city officials he stopped using drugs in 1989. His last conviction was in 1991, according to a report by Dennis Fleming, the city hearing officer in the case. Eleven years ago, Felske began driving for Fresno Transport, the largest female-owned company in the city's Hired Truck Program. He was working there in 2004 when the Sun-Times exposed waste and fraud in the program, prompting an investigation that's resulted in 46 people being convicted of crimes. City Hall kicked Fresno out, suspecting it wasn't really run by a woman. A few months after Fresno's suspension, Felske was among about 20 people brought to City Hall -- it's unclear by whom -- to apply for jobs, sources said. The applications asked to disclose any criminal history, including the "dates and nature of each conviction.'' Felske listed six crimes. He said he told a city personnel worker he couldn't remember all of his crimes and was told to put down what he remembered -- an assertion the personnel official denied.

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Fox is producing fresh episodes of its animated comedy "Family Guy" without the participation of its striking creator Seth MacFarlane, who does many of the main voices, sources said. The last episode completed before the Writers Guild of America strike began November 5 aired Sunday. Fox and sibling studio 20th Century Fox TV had the choice of going into reruns or continuing the show without MacFarlane, whose outspoken defiance of his employers has made him a cause celebre for striking writers. After a large writers rally outside the Fox lot on Friday, where he was one of the speakers, MacFarlane said the studio could proceed without him, though he hoped it would not. 20th TV had no comment on the matter Tuesday but confirmed that it remains in production on new episodes. The first episode finished without MacFarlane's blessing has been delivered to Fox. Sources said it is one of three very close to completion, with others in various stages of production. In addition to executive-producing the show, MacFarlane voices the characters of Peter, Brian and Stewis Griffin, the male members of the hapless Rhode Island family at the core of the domestic satire. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ sure FOX....go on without Seth...ratings will fall and then you can cancel them a second time you idiots.

it looks like it could be a longer final season than was expected.............. NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) - As Hollywood studios started stockpiling scripts for the Writers Guild of America strike, "Scrubs" creator Bill Lawrence said he declined a request to write a backup ending that would have allowed the NBC hospital comedy to shoot a series finale even if the walkout continued into next year. Lawrence revealed Saturday that he instead decided to write the scripts in his normal fashion, rather than fast-forward to a hackneyed series capper in which "two people kiss." He said he will write a proper finale and battle with the show's producer, ABC Studios, to get it shown, even if it has to happen next season. "I will use all my leverage to end this show properly, even if it means I have to do all the voices myself and call people up to read it over the phone," he said. Lawrence, appearing at a New York Comedy Festival event with the show's cast, said roughly seven episodes of the show's 18-episode order haven't been written. That means "Scrubs" could be forced into reruns as early as January. All but one of the scripts turned in before the strike began just after midnight last Monday have been shot, Lawrence said. He has opted not to cross the picket line to edit or work on "Scrubs" in any way; producer Randall Winston and other non-WGA members are now at the edit board for the show, which shoots at the defunct North Hollywood Medical Center in Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley. The New York Comedy Festival event originally planned on screening an as-yet-unseen episode of the show. But Lawrence said that the episode couldn't be completed because of the strike, so a previously aired episode was screened instead. The creative team of "Scrubs" is in a difficult position. With the series in the middle of its final season, staff could soon break without knowing if they'll work together again. "I didn't think it would be over so quickly," series star Zach Braff said. "We're all getting a dose of 'this could be over next week' instead of 'this could be over in January

I never bought the Bush as murderer, so this just confirmed my beliefs. as far as i could tell...it was the same special they aired last year

CHICAGO - Shia LaBeouf was arrested in Chicago early Sunday morning, Access Hollywood has learned. The 21-year-old star of “Transformers” was arrested at around 2:25 a.m. at a Walgreens in Downtown Chicago, Chicago Police spokesman Marcel Bright told the Chicago Tribune. LaBeouf, who is in Chi-Town shooting a movie, refused to leave the store after several requests by security. As a result, a security guard called the police, Bright said. The star of the upcoming fourth installment of “Indiana Jones” was cited on a misdemeanor count of trespassing. The complaint was signed by the security guard. During his arrest LaBeouf was courteous to authorities, a source told Access. LaBeouf is due in court on the alleged offence on Nov. 28.

QUOTE(Felix @ Oct 26, 2007 -> 02:36 AM) I enjoyed the new episode, but I'm far from being a dedicated Scrubs watcher. It was much better than the crap they were putting out there in the later seasons from what I've seen though. You know..crap is a relative term. Even Scrubs "crappy" shows are better than alot of shows out there.

I've never seen any of the Godfather movies or Scarface all the way through. I always seen to catch them in the middle somewhere. --I'll leave my 'man-card' out for whoever wants to come take it from me....

SALT LAKE CITY, UT - The national office of the Council on Decency in Broadcasting has issued a letter to NBC demanding that male contestants on the popular show 'The Biggest Loser' keep their shirts on during the show. Traditionally, male contestants will remove their shirts during the weigh-in portion of the program, attempting to save precious ounces on the scales. The Council contends that the practice violates regulations on nudity. "These guys have breasts bigger than a lot of women." said Irene Gillman, Executive Director of the council. "I don't think NBC is sending the right message by exposing them on national television. It's not like that t-shirt is going to make much difference anyway - affecting the weigh-in, I mean." Fans of the show interviewed by The Daily Redundancy had mixed feelings on the issue. "I think its disgusting." said Heather Bancroft, aerobics instructor and part-owner of the Tofu 4U Vegetarian Deli. "I know they're men, but they need to cover those things up. They look like a big candle melting in the sun." "The reality is that a lot of people look like that." said Henry 'Bubba' Green, short order cook at Steakburger's on Melson street. "We're not all underwear models." Officials at NBC could not be reached for comment.

How I met your mother is one of my fav shows, but Sunny in Philly is the funniest show on tv. i guess it's just me but i have seen Philly 4 or 5 times and i just don't think it's all that funny. Then again..i never saw HUGE comedic potential in Arrested Development either. Though i did like AD better.

QUOTE(Brian @ Oct 23, 2007 -> 05:48 PM) I haven't seen once commercial on NBC promoting the return. Would of been better off moving to ABC. There is a short promo on their nbc page, but that is it. I did see a quick promo about Scrubs returning. One thing i do remember was JD delivering a baby...then you see a shot from the womans POV of JD and the nurses pulling away in mock horror, then you see Colin Hay say hello!!!! Gotta love more Colin Hay!!!!!!!
