Michael Vick Accepts Plea Deal Per ESPN
juddling replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
well..it was bound to happen....a quote from Vick: "I am upset with myself and through this situation I found Jesus and asked him for forgiveness and have turned my life over to God. I think that's the right thing to do as of right now." Damn....given his current track record...i didn't think he was even LOOKING for Jesus. What???? Did he stop by the crib and drop a few G's on a dogfight????? -
maybe he was tired of being in every movie made over the last 3 years.

QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Aug 24, 2007 -> 08:35 PM) Interesting. First and foremost, I am an AJ fan. I have his jersey, I think he was key to 2005. That said, I personally have seen him not hustle out some plays this year to the point where I was thinking: what's with the lolly-gagging? You could at least try. More than once. And Steff: remember when we talked what you couldn't talk about? I think now I know what you're talking about. Coach: You guys... you lollygag the ball around the infield. You lollygag your way down to first. You lollygag in and out of the dugout. Do you know what that makes you? Larry? Larry: Lollgaggers! Coach: Lollygaggers.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 24, 2007 -> 08:03 PM) Oh yeah, that was another thing - thanks for reminding me. AJ seems to be taking signals from the bench now than he ever did before. He is less prepared. His attitude isn't news - its a question of how much its effected his play. I don't think AJ is getting more signals from the bench because he's unprepared....i think it's the other way around. He's not preparing as hard because he knows the bench will be calling most of the game.

a friend of mine sent this to me...... 10 questons you'll never hear asked to Hillary Clinton...... 1. In May of 2002, you went on the floor of the U.S. Senate and held up a copy of the New York Post, which had the headline "Bush Knew," implying that President Bush had advance knowledge of the 9-11 attacks, but did nothing to stop it. Was this a responsible thing for a U.S. senator to do, implying that the president allowed the 9-11 attacks to happen? 2. In 1991, you praised Anita Hill, saying she had "changed history with her courageous testimony." Do you really believe that Anita Hill was sexually harassed by Clarence Thomas? And if so, what is your opinion of powerful men who use the power of their positions to sexually harass younger, vulnerable women? 3. In 2001, you accused the Bush administration of adding arsenic to the nation’s drinking supply. (You said, "How can the Bush administration justify wanting Americans to ingest more, not less, arsenic?") Can you explain to the American people why you think president Bush would want to add a poisonous element to our drinking supply? 4. In October of 2002, on the floor of the U.S. Senate, you stated that Saddam Hussein had "given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al-Qaida members." Are you willing to provide documentation of this, especially given the fact that you’ve said President Bush used "faulty evidence" to justify going into Iraq? 5. Your husband is making millions of dollars from speeches, as well as serving on several corporate boards. How will you guarantee that there will be no conflict of interest between his "outside interests" and your administration? 6. Ken Starr replaced Robert Fiske as the independent counsel. Robert Ray eventually replaced Ken Starr. Fiske has recently said about Starr’s Whitewater investigation, "Everything I would have done, Ken Starr did." Robert Ray stated that your testimony in the White House Travel Office investigation was "factually inaccurate." Is it still your contention that Ken Starr and the independent counsel engaged in a "vast, right-wing conspiracy" against you and your husband? 7. Republican Rep. Dennis Hastert has stated that during a discussion of health care reform you told him: "People are basically greedy and won’t make the tough decisions. They won’t take their kid to the hospital when he needs to go because they want to keep the money for themselves." Is the former speaker of the House lying? If he’s not lying, why do you have such a low opinion of parents in this country? 8. Back in the early ’90s, Bob Woodward quoted you as saying, "I believe in evil and I think that there are evil people in the world." Instead of talking about Islamic terrorists, you were referring to people who were opposed to your health care reform plan. Having seen actual evil at work, do you still believe that people who are against health care reform are evil? 9. Woodward’s Watergate partner, Carl Bernstein, has a biography about you. In it he quotes numerous Democrats, both on and off the record, speaking of your temper. Considering the fact that so many Democrats have spoken about your temper and poor judgment, do you think you posses the proper temperament and good judgment to be president of the United States? 10. Arkansas businesswoman Juanita Broaddrick has accused your husband of sexual assault. She’s also said that just weeks after the rape, you approached her and gave her a message that she, Juanita, "was to keep her mouth shut" about the rape. Is Juanita Broaddrick lying?

QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Aug 14, 2007 -> 03:03 AM) It's all about the money..... http://www.myfoxdc.com/myfox/pages/Home/De...mp;pageId=1.1.1 Glad that isn't here. Yet. As far as money makers go, maybe Canada has it right.... Canada Introduces $10,000 Speeding Ticket Ontario, Canada applies street racing penalties to motorists who are not racing anybody. Ontario, Canada Premier Dalton McGuinty today announced that being caught driving 50km/h (31 MPH) over the speed limit will automatically trigger "street racing" penalties -- even if the accused motorist is driving alone on an otherwise empty road. The change in definition will, in effect, turn ordinary speeding into an offense that can carry a $10,000 (US $9305) fine and up to six months in jail, making it one of the most expensive traffic tickets in North America. "If you choose to break the law, we consider you a threat to our public safety and you're going to face stiff penalties," McGuinty said in a statement. In June, McGuinty cited the importance of combating the "organized crime" of street racing as he urged passage of the Safer Roads for a Safer Ontario Act which created the $10,000 penalty. The change in definition also means that the word of a police officer is all that it takes to confiscate a car and driver's license for at least seven days. "There is no appeal from, or right to be heard before, a vehicle detention, driver's license suspension or vehicle impoundment under [the street racing] subsection," the Safer Roads Act states. McGuinty also announced a proposal to hire 55 new traffic police officers and purchase a high-tech surveillance airplane in an attempt to rack up several of the expensive new fines -

Nifong Complains About State Bar's Handling of Ethics Case RALEIGH, N.C. — When former Durham District Attorney Mike Nifong mailed in his law license last week, he also included a note bemoaning "the fundamental unfairness" of the North Carolina State Bar's handling of his ethics case. Nifong was disbarred for his handling of rape charges against three Duke University men's lacrosse players. State prosecutors later dismissed the charges and declared the players innocent. The State Bar in June found that Nifong violated several ethics rules in his handling of the case, including withholding evidence from defense attorneys and making inflammatory comments to media. Nifong resigned as district attorney last month when a judge was about to conduct a hearing into removing the disbarred prosecutor from office. In the Aug. 7 letter, Nifong complained about a revision the State Bar issued to its written ruling, which had omitted one of the counts included in an oral ruling. Robert Mosteller, a Duke law professor, noticed the missing count. "Am I just missing this reference, is there an explanation, or just an apparent oversight?" he wrote in an e-mail to the State Bar. The count was added in an amended order by F. Lane Williamson, a Charlotte lawyer who headed the disciplinary panel. "Mr. Williamson's e-mail assertion that the addition of a new conclusion of law based on the request of a Duke University law professor is merely a 'clerical correction' is preposterous beyond belief, and is further evidence of the fundamental unfairness with which this entire procedure has been conducted," Nifong wrote. Nifong's letter contradicts statements his lawyer made during the disciplinary hearing. Attorney David Freedman told the panel that Nifong "believes this has been a fair and full hearing of the facts, that he believes disbarment is the appropriate punishment in this case." Nifong also noted in his letter that his middle name was misspelled on his law license and that a puppy had chewed on part of the document. "Consequently, it has never been framed or displayed," he wrote.

Former Dodger and MLB All-Star Jose Offerman continued his hot hitting with the Long Island Ducks of the Independent Atlantic League last night, smashing a first-inning home run and the pitcher with his hot bat. After getting hit by a pitch in his second at-bat, Offerman charged the mound with bat in hand. "He hit him with a cut fastball in the left calf," Bluefish manager Tommy John said. "And the next thing you know, Offerman's going to the mound with his bat over his head taking swings at [pitcher Matt] Beech. He took at least two, maybe even three [swings]." Beech left the game with a broken finger. Catcher John Nathans, who tried to restrain Offerman, suffered concussion-like symptoms. And Offerman has a court date on August 23rd. Something about $10,000 bail and second-degree assault charges.

Very loosely related funny story..... A furious motorist who took a circular saw to a traffic camera was left even angrier when a court heard it had not caught him. Richard Atkinson, 31, drove to a DIY store, bought the power tool and hacked off the camera after convincing himself he had been flashed for jumping a red light at a junction in January. But yesterday Nottingham Crown Court heard he had not been snapped. Atkinson, of Langley Mill, Derbys, admitted intending to pervert the course of justice and was jailed for eight weeks. -
Bloody-Disgusting learned this weekend that Universal Pictures has officially begun casting for Jurassic Park IV, which will film in Kauai, Hawaii later this year! Laura Dern confirmed her return to the franchise as Dr. Ellie Sattler here as Sam Neill will NOT return. We're told that the film is about the government who has trained dinosaurs to carry weapons and use them for battle purposes. Based on the I can now safely declare that this franchise has entered 'ridiculous sequel mode'. Watch for more news soon. I wonder if they will throw in a scene with a Bush lookalike approving this goverment program with a Cheney lookalike doing a Dr. Evil laugh behind him.......

Just to be fair and so we can have a good laugh at Cletus...i found this today..... Kevin Federline Pulls A Britney Spears, Goes Where He's Not Wanted Kevin Federline was humiliated when he turned up to "star" in a new film only to discover he had been fired! Kevin arrived for on the set of 'The Night Watchman', which stars Keanu Reeves, after his manager forgot to tell him makers Fox Searchlight had dispensed with his services. A source claimed: "He only had a very small role. However, he was fired from the film and his manager didn't tell him. Kevin found out when he turned up for a wardrobe call." Reports previously suggested Kevin would be "starring opposite" Keanu in the 'The Night Watchman', but Fox Searchlight insist they never even cast him in the first place. Kevin's manager refused to comment on the mix-up.

i think i was sometime last week that the Star reported that Britney accused Cletus of sleeping with her mom. Now granted, Britney is a whack job but if Cletus managed to tag both Britney AND mom then i think i would be compelled to give Cletus some props. (if you add in the news from the Star about Jamie Lyn Spears being pregnant I would check Cletus. he seems to be fertile enough to impregnate just by staring.) Now if he managed to get the entire female side of the Spears' family....i will declare him King of the White Trash!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
