  1. QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 02:17 PM) I've lived near this area for a good 20 years, and have passed Pasta Fresh hundreds of times, but I've never heard of any reviews or anyone ever talk about it. But, thanks to your recommendation, I'll give it a try. you wont regret it! if you're confused as to what to order, just ask what they highly recommend and you will NOT be let down
  2. QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Mar 8, 2010 -> 02:47 PM) Nice, I'll have to check that out...do you mean a lot of cash because it's expense, or a lot of cash to try a bunch of things? They have no website to check so I just want to make sure i meant bring lots of cash because you're going to want to buy A LOT
  3. QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Mar 8, 2010 -> 11:26 AM) Checked out a new little Pasta place on Armitage and Halsted...Pasta Palazzo, it was on Food Network and a couple of other local TV shows. Most dishes are under $12-13 and it is damn good...highly reccomended I used to frequent pasta palazzo quite often and yes i highly recommend it as well. My favorite pasta place bar none is Pasta Fresh over on Harlem and Roscoe. I was told about this place by this couple that lives next door to me that fairly recently moved to the States from Italy and they completely swear by this place having the most authentic dishes in the city. The place only accepts cash and its only the husband and wife making the pasta on the spot for you so i recommend taking a lot of cash if you ever go there.
  4. QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 6, 2010 -> 11:30 AM) So "The Show" is definitely worth it? I went in to Best Buy last night to pick up season 5 of Entourage (on sale for $15) and was tempted, but did not pick up, The Show. Figured maybe closer to the season starting. From what you guys have played so far, definitely worth the $60? Yes yes yes! and thats not the fanboyism talking either.. This game is flat out spectacular, and the attention to detail is amazing all the way down to the little things like a relative unknown guy like Jon Rauch's tattoos being done to perfection. its pretty darn cool.
  5. Goin to my other house in Orlando, FL. with the gf with hopes of relaxation and some sun.
  6. QUOTE (BFirebird @ Mar 3, 2010 -> 10:06 AM) Mine was pushed back! *Shakes fist* I must have pre-ordered too late. Have to wait until next week. I got my copy of the show on monday night at the ol local gamestop for 9 dollars thanks to a trade in of borderlands and batman: arkum asylum Loving the game, just trying to get my batters eye back! I would swing at pretty much anything thrown at me for the first couple innings
  7. QUOTE (Sonik22 @ Mar 2, 2010 -> 02:35 PM) 100 Days til I don't leave the tv jersey shore 2?
  8. the show, bro. it has a sort of a steep learning curve when it comes to hitting but once you finally "get" it, it is so extremely rewarding. First HR for me in this game was with CQ against scott baker
  9. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Mar 2, 2010 -> 07:41 PM) My segway comment was a joke. I think Tesla Roadster's would be fantastic for police, since it would cut down on gas. And there are plenty of bad cop drivers...ones that swerve, run red lights by turning their lights on then right off, and in Anaheim I literally saw a train of policeman do a U-turn in a no u-turn area...without their lights on...and one sticking his head out the window laughing... sshh you're not one of the 1% that knows about danger
  10. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 1, 2010 -> 02:41 PM) It's not just girth either, mine's a good 12 1/2 inches long. thats a big ps3
  11. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 1, 2010 -> 02:33 PM) I've got a fat one. Hmm... Reaaallllyyy?
  12. apparently there is a problem with the older "phat" ps3's internal clock.. For some reason the systems internal clock believes that it is a leap year and the date is actually february 29th today and is refusing that it is actually march 1st, causing the system to crash.. My "phat" ps3 works just fine so far so i think im in the clear. But people that have gotten off the phone with sony reps have been told there is nothing wrong. People are hoping that tomorrow the internal clock will be at March 1st, which is a real date and the system will go back to normal. This is a bad time for this to be happening, right when MLB the Show is about to be released!
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 1, 2010 -> 09:49 AM) No pun intended? :ph34r:
  14. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 1, 2010 -> 09:24 AM) Injuries are the exception. And having your department, as a whole, in better physical shape, will reduce injuries anyway. I agree wholeheartedly that a daily physical training program is key if done right, also that having fewer cops of high quality is much much better than having a ton of cops of a lower quality.
  15. QUOTE (chwhtsox @ Mar 1, 2010 -> 09:04 AM) I can buy the "SUV's are needed for Chicago winters" argument. The bicycle patrol idea isn't reasonable IMO. Can you imagine how vulnerable a cop is riding his bicycle on Thomas and Springfield (I can name hundreds of other intersections as well, not a knock on the example I used). agreed.. while i do agree that SOME Chicago police officers seem to be on the "portly" side, I also understand that not much can be done about it.. Ill take the military as an example, when i first joined years ago i was envisioning a bunch of in shape bad asses that could excersize for days, but the reality of it all is, like in sports, injuries happen. Now some of us like myself have gotten injured permanently during our time in service. What happens is you go to the doc and he evaluates you over time and then declares whether you will be able to run, jump, swim, do pushups or situps, wear body armor etc, for the military ever again.. Some injuries will still allow you to do your duty and go on patrols and what not, some get you sent to units full of paper pushers. But this also creates a ton of soldiers feigning injuries to get out of work (specifically the jobs that no one else wants to get stuck doing), so guys go to the doctor, the doctor finds a little thing wrong with them and declares they shouldnt run anymore for example, so the soldier takes that and (not literally) runs with it. The whole idea behind this is for you to take time off to rest that injury and rehab yourself back into shape, but many countless soldiers use this sort of doctors note to ensure that for the rest of their careers they will never have to do any type of strenuous work, which in turn gives birth to a breed of fat soldiers. I am not a Chicago cop, but I can imagine that they have something quite similiar with people that are quite similair. Like if an officer gets hurt on duty he can claim that it was the Chicago Police Dept. that made him injure himself since all of this happen while he was on patrol. Therefore they will not risk the officer getting injured again and not enforce any type of physical training on that specific person, some people really get hurt and take advantage of this, some people "sort" of get hurt and milk it for what its worth. I know there are people like that in this world, ive seen it all over. But unless we get a real cop to talk about this, im just talking out of my rear end and speculating based on my experience with a different employer
  16. i think there is some truth to the whole psycological deal, i remember driving through states where the troopers were driving in upgraded dodge chargers. Nothing like seeing one of those guys hugging your bumper. As for driving in a tahoe? Im not quite sure, I've seen it in other cities, especially while living in NY the past 3 years. But now that im back in Chicago it makes me wonder why they would need such a heavy truck that would run out of gas before catching up to a guy thats really trying to avoid the law. Got this from CLTV news: "The Chicago Police Department will quadruple its fleet of gas-guzzling Chevrolet Tahoe SUVs this year -- to more than 200 -- under a contract in the works sure to please Supt. Jody Weis. Weis has argued that the Police Department's fleet -- 36 SUVs and 2,753 sedans -- is in "horrible" condition and that SUVs make more sense to get through Chicago's winters. Chicago Police will add more than 200 new Chevy Tahoe Police Vehicles this year. The average beat car is 2.6 years old and has 50,622 miles on it. The average unmarked vehicle is 2.9 years old with 41,285 miles. Buying 165 more SUVs this year may not seem like the wisest move at a time when gas prices have been going through the roof. What do you think?" Apparently buying a Chevy Tahoe is cheaper than buying a Crown Vic?
  17. QUOTE (T R U @ Mar 1, 2010 -> 04:38 AM) because my favorite NHL players are mostly Canadians, so when the Olympics comes around they are on team Canada.. I wouldn't say I was rooting against the US, just rooting for Canada if that makes sense.. I understand you Carl.. In my case, with Soccer, almost all my favorite players are from Spain, so during the World Cup and other international events, Spain is always my number one team to win the tournaments regardless of who they play (yes including the U.S.). But its not to say that i wouldnt get hyped if the U.S. beat Spain (which they have, fairly recently).
  18. ugh chelsea please dont start slipping now... i honestly can care less about winning the EPL, ive seen them do that. I want a champs league title! i hope we can get by Inter with the injuries to our squad..
  19. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Feb 26, 2010 -> 01:10 AM) My family is actually the one weary of my girlfriend, adds way to much unneeded drama into my life. Now my girlfriend cries to me how much my family hates her and my parents dont understand her viewpoint at all. Its crazy because my brother is a mess when it comes to dating (hes 23 and probably has had like 3 dates in his life, and thats not an exaggeration). They are always pushing him to get a date but when I have a girlfriend they try to avoid her or make it her feel distant from the family. yeah thats sort of the spot im in. Theres no changing the family's feelings unless i come up with a 20k dollar engagement ring and promise that she doesnt have to ever get a job cause ill support her for the rest of her life.. which is all very unrealistic
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 26, 2010 -> 12:39 AM) Man, I need you guys here in Vegas...I am trying to pick a restaurant for Saturday night and there are just SO many....don't know what to go with... www.yelp.com always works for me when im traveling
  21. QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 25, 2010 -> 11:42 PM) I wrote about my first love previously in this thread, and this was how things were with her family. I knew they never thought I was good enough for her, and I never cared much for them either. It was such an obstacle that I just decided I simply could not ever be with her. We dated several different times, and I think every time it would get serious enough to where I would have to be exposed to her family, things sort of unravelled from that point. In the end, I just could not date a girl that I think otherwise, I very well could have married. yeah i hear ya. Whenever im hangin around her family its just like watching Meet the Parents.. One funny moment was when we were all having dinner at a restaurant, the girls had their wine, and the guys had their beer. I ordered a delirium tremmens (beer) and the next day my partner was telling me that her mother was calling me an alcoholic because i drink crazy beer and that I will most likely end up beating her if we ever get married.. i just had, one, beer.... it makes me laugh at times, and i do get a rise out of pissing the family off now because of this long term battle thats been going on between us. But i do understand its her family and i have to respect them no matter how many times they try showing me signs that they truly believe im a dirtbag loser that doesnt deserve to step foot in their houses.
  22. Anyone ever date someone whose entire family seemingly disliked you from day one for no apparent reason? Ive been baffled by my partners family for quite some time now.. At first they didnt like the fact that I was in the military and living on a base in New York, because supposedly i was going buck wild and cheating left and right out there in my unit full of guys. Then i finally come to chicago to meet the whole gang and its all smiles and laughs until i leave and then its all criticisms and judgements. I dont consider myself a bad guy. I know how to watch what I say and I pride myself in being very good at gauging peoples reactions and quickly finding out what type of person someone is. Anyways long story short, these people dislike me with a passion for some baffling reason? My partner and I ran into some choppy waters a while back and took a break from each other and the family like, celebrated the fact. You would think I was a serial rapist or something! After 4 years of being in the Army and being in Iraq and all i figured i would take a little break from working once i got home, and her family thought I was a huge dirtbag that doesnt want to work and live off of unemployment for the rest of my life. Im just trying to find the best course of action.. I would absolutely LOVE to just avoid these people all together, but its her family.. They know that i know that they do not like me, but when im around them im as friendly as can be and make sure to talk to everyone and just well.. be normal i guess you can say, because id love to fix things with these people and get them off of my back. But alas, everytime i think im making progress, the day after my partner will tell me about all the things they were criticizing me about.. its enough to drive a brotha mad i tells ya! I have never met a person in my life that disliked me so it irks me that her entire family thinks im some sort of dirtbag!
  23. QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Feb 25, 2010 -> 02:09 PM) If you love fish...they also have some damn good breakfast. I suggest Glenn's Diner on Montrose, it was on Diners Driveins and Dives and lives up to the billing. Some of the best clam chowder I've ever had. They even have an apple jack crusted Tilapia! They carry almost every cereal known to man great suggestion!! I love their cereal bar in the morning as well.. mix and match from all kinds of different cereals in one bowl, yummiee
  24. I live in Avondale and there are fairly frequent vehicle break-ins around the block especially in the summer. For the condo i just have a USP .45 and a yorkie.
