If the sox add a solid SP.....
QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Jan 4, 2008 -> 11:31 PM) Don't we still have Crede and Uribe as bargaining chips? I think Crede will be dealt to the Phillies hopefully for a couple of decent prospects. Im just not sure about Uribe. I know Baltamore needs a SS after Tejada left.. maybe we can get a prospect or 2 there also.. I really think Crede and Uribe will be used to bring some prospects back into the organization. This team really needs a SP but were not getting it with Crede or Uribe.

If the sox add a solid SP.....
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 4, 2008 -> 10:14 PM) Interesting, I still remember his start against the Sox late last season where he looked quite a bit like his old self. I really think whomever gets Colon is going to end up getting a bargain on there hands. I think a 1 year $5 million deal would be a risk worth taking. You pretty much get that money back once you trade Uribe. Throw in some major incentives and i think a deal could be had. This would be a great insurance policy because chances that 1 of Floyd, Contreras or Danks going to suck is pretty high.

Phil Rogers: Sox's future takes another hit
This trade would be horrible is Swish only had 1-2 years left on his contract, but we have him for 5 years!! That takes losing DSL and Gio alittle easier.

White Sox Acquire Nick Swisher from Athletics
What do you guys think the lineup would be if the season started now? I'm thinkin: Owens CF Cabrera SS Swisher LF Thome DH Konerko 1B Dye RF Pierzynski C Fields 3B Richar 2B I just don't buy Swisher being the every day CF...

White Sox Acquire Nick Swisher from Athletics
This team needed a move like this. It sucks to give up DSL in the package but seeing that we have Swish under contract for the next 5 seasons it makes me happy... Whats next? Im guessing moving Uribe and/or Crede soon...

White Sox hope to rise from the ashes in 2008
I think Boston is in a position where Crisp has to be moved to make room for Elsbury. By the looks of things, Santana will at least pitch the first half of the season with Minnesota. WIth that being said i think Crisp can be had for the right price. I see that most of you guys are not big Taveras fans but i think he's a good player and a better defensive CF than OWens. Owens on the other hand has the potential to have 50 SBs and a decent average if given the chance. As of right now i would like it if KW can bring in Crisp or Taveras for CF and have Owens as our security 4th OF. We just don't know what to expect out of Quentin, he is coming off an injury so its good to have depth.

White Sox hope to rise from the ashes in 2008
http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news/artic...sp&c_id=cws What would it take for the Rockies to trade their leadoff man? I know they want starting pitching... He would be a much better addition than Crisp...

Our Leadoff Hitter
you know its been a disappointing offseason when fans are questioning if its a good idea or not to bring pods back...

Sox Interested in Roberts?
QUOTE(Skeet @ Dec 25, 2007 -> 09:13 PM) Not sure if this came up in this or the Bedard thread, but if not, why isn't anyone mentioning Gavin Floyd in a deal for either of these players. He's a local [Annapolis, MD] product and the O's are going to have to overcome a PR mess due to selling off most of their players with major league talent [Tejada, Roberts and Bedard]. Sub-Devil Rays. Yuck!!! Bringing him home could be a great move for them at the turnstiles as they head into this monster youth movement. I'm personally not sold on Floyd as a 4 or 5 for the Sox [hope I'm wrong] and I wouldn't mind seeing them move him before he's completely revealed as a wash-out. Of the two, I'd rather have Bedard. Merry Christmas! Good research on Floyd's past Skeet. However, its going to take more than Floyd to get one of these players... I think both Bedard AND Roberts will be dealt this offseason. The Cubs are still going strong for Roberts, while many of the NL west teams seem to be after Bedard... I think either of these players helps the Sox.. I would love it if KW brings in both... If KW can somehow do this, we would instantly become a contender IMO Bring it on

Carlos Quentin
Im sure Kenny told Fields that he will start 3B for the White Sox next year or he will find a place for him to start 3B. Pretty much meaning he won't start out in LF next year. I'll be shocked if Crede and Uribe aren't traded before the New Year.

The White Sox and Alexei Ramírez agree to 4 year deal
Scott Merkin thinks he will be a super-sub to go along side Ozuna.. he thinks this move means the departure of Uribe. If KW still lands that veteran CF like they are talking about we could very well have a speedy bench of Owens, Ramerez and Ozuna... I like that!! It also means if Richar struggles early on, Ramerez could very well take over at 2B... This move gives the Sox a lot of flexibility, ESPECIALLY if they land Crisp still.
-
The White Sox and Alexei Ramírez agree to 4 year deal
Any chance he battles it out with Richar for that starting 2B spot in spring training? Or do you guys think he will battle it out with Owens for that CF possition?
-
Confirmed interest in Prior
If Prior only wants a 1 year deal i think the Sox should at least look into it... That pretty much means that he is banking on that to eventually earn a lucrative contract the following year. Why not take a chance on a guy like this? I think Prior has a better chance at regaining form this year better than Garcia or Colon do...

Willis signs Extension with Tigers
As long as Miguel Cabrera doesn't sign an extension im fine... The Sox better make a HUGE push for him in a couple years.

Stone to Call 670 broadcasts
THis is the best move the White Sox organization have made so far this offseason!!

THIS DATE IN SOX HISTORY: DEC 19/Sewell, Gil, AJ
QUOTE(StatManDu @ Dec 19, 2007 -> 01:38 PM) THIS DATE IN SOX HISTORY: DEC 19 For more, see www.whitesoxalmanac.com LUKE, YOU ARE A DODGER 1938: After four solid seasons behind the plate, the White Sox sold 18-year veteran Luke Sewell to the Brooklyn Dodgers. The Titus, Ala., native was purchased by the Sox on Jan. 19, 1935 immediately after he had been from Washington. Sewell hit .285 for the 1935 Sox, his best output since hitting .294 for the 1927 Indians. The following year, Sewell reached career-highs with five home runs and 73 RBIs and topped league backstops with 87 assists. After another year as a regular behind the Sox plate, Sewell’s playing time decreased. The emergence of Mike Tresh, who played for the Sox until 1948, made Sewell expendable. GIL … JUST IN CASE 1997: Benji Gil the heir apparent to Ozzie Guillen? Seeking veteran insurance at shortstop, the White Sox acquired Benji Gil from the Texas Rangers for relievers Al Levine and Larry Thomas. With Guillen’s playing days with the Sox over, the team was thin at shortstop. The Sox had acquired Mike Caruso from the Giants in the “white flag” trade the previous July but he had never played above Class-A. In Gil, the Sox were receiving a somewhat proven commodity, who had given Texas solid seasons in 1995 and 1997 but had his 1996 was cut short by an injury. There was never any need for Gil. Caruso had a spectacular rookie season in 1997 while Gil was relegated to the Sox Triple-A affiliate at Charlotte. PIERZYNSKI FOR THREE 2005: The White Sox and catcher A.J. Pierzynski agreed to terms on a three-year contract. And why not? In the previous 87 years, the Sox did not have Pierzynski, they did not win a World Series. In his first season with the team, the White Sox won the World Series. I remember that day and i was damn excited when it happened. Can't we have a day like this soon KW? Suprise by getting a key player?

Erik Bedard
if we can get both Bedard and Roberts i would put us back up there with the contenders. Yea the whole Roberts steroid thing is kind of disturbing but it was 5 years ago and his numbers the past few years are still damn good. And KW has been wanting Bedard the last 3 seasons... I think KW doesn't have much of a choice than to take a serious look at this.. he added a veteran in Cabrera and we already have Dye, THome and Konerko so its not like the team will rebuild next year. This would make a lot of Sox fans happy and would potentially turn an offseason disaster into a very good offseason. Obviously its pure speculation and nothing more at this point... but im sure KW has something else up his sleeve before Christmas that will shock many of us. He knows damn well that the team constructed right now is not going anywhere next year...

Top of the rotation starters
Danks has the potential to be a top of the line rotation... If the offense didn't start off horrible last year and gave him run support, He could have easily started the year 6-2.. thats damn good for your rookie season... Floyd looked horrible last year to start the year off... his first 2 or 3 appearances were bad. He was getting shelled out of the bullpen too. But for whatever reason Ozzie put him back out there in september when Danks' arm was tired and he began to struggle and Floyd started to look really good. I think he shut down Detroit twice in september... I think he is our next Jon Garland experiement.. just let him pitch out his problems and develop him until he finally figures it all out. As far as them being top of the rotation starters? Definitley not.. they can easily be a 3-4 in a rotation one day...

Santana wants 7yrs @ $20mm/yr
The Twins would be foolish not to trade Johan this offseason... unless they truly thought they would have a shot at going all the way this year. But im sure they have realized that the chance of that happening in this division are slim to none. But if the Yankees or Red Sox don't up the antee on Santana i can very well see him staying a Twin at least until the ASB. 7 years at 20 mill/ season would be a steal for him. But Reiny HATES giving pitchers long term contracts.. So i wouldn't expect him to come here. Its okay though, we still have Gavin Floyd!!!

Cubs trying to land Nathan.....
If the Cubs land Nathan i really think they will be the favorite to win the NL next year... Ugh!! I hate where baseball in Chicago has headed these last few years...

FireKennyWilliams.com
QUOTE(iamshack @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 03:14 PM) Yeah, he should have seen that coming. He should have known that the team that was 58-30 heading into the 06' ASB would suddenly collapse.... In 2005 you have to give credit to KW and Ozzie. KW had the guts to trade Carlos Lee for a leadoff hitter who was coming off a bad plate average the year before.. but he realized he had 70 SBs and was worth taking a crack at. He also took a chance at "Mr. Cancer" AJ Pierzynski. And out of all the big name free agent pitchers out there, KW went with the crafty El-duque... To help solidify the team he went and brought in Iguchi from Japan. I think we all knew after the team was assembled that this team may be special... ESPECIALLY with Brandon McCarthy as our 6th starter. In 2006 I STILL give credit to KW and give blame to Ozzie. KW made a HUGE risk, trading fan favorite Rowand for Thome. He also traded El-Duque and Chris Young (OUCH I KNOW!) for Vazquez. KW added to a team that just won the world series, and the way the season began, we all thought this team could actually win 2 in a row. But after that ASB the team just starting sucking and for that i blaim Ozzie. Even after the bullpen struggles KW went out and brought in MacDougal for some help but that wasn't enough because this team had no heart or fire.. that was suppose to come from Guillen... never happaned. Oh yea and we all blaimed the season on Brian Anderson.. . In 2007 it was purely KWs fault. He went into last offseason basing his 2006 season winning 90 games. Well KW your team won 60% of the 90 games in the first half of the season. He didn't add anybody and was content in thinking the team would just simply rebound... He added "Power Arms" to the bullpen with limited to no experience at all. He re-signed Pods to play LF because of the way the "market was out of whack". He signed Erstad to be the everyday CF.. wow those 2 moves worked out well. Because of the market going up, KW's agression went waaaaaaaaay down. He wouldn't go after big name free agents anymore, he would simply just rely on trades. He traded away big game Freddy for Gio and Floyd. (This was the one good move he had last offseason as Freddy went down in the beginning of the 2007 season). But he shocked us all by trading McCarthy for Danks and Massett. Well this trade is pretty much McCarthy for Danks straight up because Massett will likely be non-tendered.. I was a BIG McCarthy fan and saw this deal as why?? Danks could be something special but so can McCarthy.... KW failed last offseason its that simple. 2008: KW did the expected and traded Jon Garland but we didn't expect to be for ageing shortstop Orlando Cabrera. This trade helps the infield and top of the order but the rotation takes a big hit... He signed Linebrink which was a decent signing, i just hope he doesn't get lit up in the AL. He also brought in Quentin. By the way things have gone, this just very well be all the moves he makes this offseason. And if that is the case, look for the Sox to finish 4th once again in a tough tough division... RIght now if the season started today, KW would recieve a D+. Not and F because he did make a strong push for Hunter, but was outbid by LAAngels last minute. He also put together a respectable package for Cabrera, but was simply outbid by Detroit. Those 2 moves weren't his fault. But not signing one of Fukudome or Rowand was his fault... Why not give Rowand a 5th year? Or why not outbid the Cubs? I know I know, the White Sox are a small market team and can't win bidding wars.... You have a couple of months KW to try to earn our support back... because the last 2 years have been a huge dissappointment.

Here's to Frank Thomas.
Yep Frank was robbed in 2000 by Mr. Roids himself (Giambi). Frank is and always will be Mr. White Sox in my book. Hopefully he ends his career strong in Toronto this season.

how about KWMUSTLEAVE.com... thats a good one. Oh and you'll love his latest rant: http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news/artic...sp&c_id=cws He said the team already addressed 3/4 major needs.... wow so the rotation is set (yikes), the bullpen is set (linebrink the savior!!), and the infield is set (pretty much means Crede will be dealt for minor leaguers). The only move he said is left is CF... something tells me Coco Crisp or Juan Pierre will be our starting CF next year... Its 7 am and i already need a drink..its going to be a looooong season.

So now what?
It just might be one of those seasons where i may watch one game a week... just to see how the young players are developing because its obvious this team is heading nowhere this year.

Tejada dealt to the Astros
QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Dec 12, 2007 -> 07:42 PM) Oh jeez, do you think these folks with their nonsense actually care about facts, fathom? God, Bedard/Roberts are not southside bound nor will they be until they are both 35+. Please stop with the proposals in every thread about something else people. Back to the discussion. Tejada = roids and we'll get to laugh about it tomorrow when we all finally get to see the Mitchell Report. Its the Winter Hot Stove...what else are we going to do? Talk about how bad we sucked last year?
