There is a fitness program banner that keeps popping on Soxtalk, called Athlean or something close to that. Has anyone ever tried that out, what did they think about it and better or worse than p90x?

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 11:50 PM) I think people hate the concept of Ozzie Guillen and if they'd watch his interviews more they'd start to like the guy more. I think he's funny as hell. Sure he's got an ego as big as Mt. Rushmore, but so do most big leaguers. Robin is an excpetion. He was a great player but doesn't seem to have an ego at all. Good for him; prolly because he is a Midwestern bred kid, going to Okie State. College helps some of these guys grow up. To me ... Ozzie is one funny f***er and I don't give a flip about his kids. Those are spoiled brats, raised with money, money, money at all times. Don't care what his kids say; I know some of you do. I think Ozzie is a riot. I will never understand why you love him so much, I don't think he is particularly funny. He has said a few things I laughed at but when you talk as much as Ozzie that is bound to happen... If you were in Chicago instead of KC which gives you more of an outside perspective you might feel different about Ozzie.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 11:30 PM) Read this regarding The Franchise getting canceled and again you see a kindler, gentler Ozzie. How can you not read his comments in articles and laugh your ass off. He's an entertaining guy. Do yu all deny that? http://www.miamiherald.com/2012/08/21/2960...len-reacts.html He keeps things interesting I don't think anyone denies that... but that is part of the reason people can't stand him.

QUOTE (PorkChopExpress @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 01:23 PM) You know, I usually try not to get into these kinds of things, but this one gets me. Everyone experiences life differently. Some people bond with their pets just as much, if not more, than with family members. And when they lose a pet, it is the same, or worse than the loss of a family member. Don't presume to tell other people how "it really is" or how they should feel based on your personal experiences. Who are you to tell other people how they should or should not cope with a loss of any kind? That's nice and all, if you suck at baseball because your dog is sick/dying/dead go get a new job.....

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 03:51 PM) I disagree that being a back up in NFL gives more relevant experience. Being a starter gives more relevant experience, which is why outside of Tom Brady, the top QB's were all starters in college, and generally for at least 2 years. If you cant even win the starting job at your college, how are you going to win the job in the NFL? Yes I get that Flynn was a back up to Jamarcus, but that guy isnt even in the NFL. The point of the stats was to show how little actual playing time Flynn has had, and I think thats relevant. If that was true why would teams ever have a first round QB sit a year.... its an entirely different game. Also, it is only 2 preseason games and Wilson did it all against backups so he might just be another Caleb Hanie...
-
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 03:35 PM) Im not sure what you are getting at, the point of the stats were how much more experience Wilson has than Flynn. Flynn has never put up great stats. You may think College stats are useless, but you have to use something. Even stranger is you seemingly reached the same conclusion, that to much hype was given to a small sample size. Odd I was getting at posting college stats is a waste of time and don't have much to do with the argument and being a backup in NFL gives you more relevant experience than a starter in college.... But, constantly you see backup QB's get hyped up when they make a few good starts and they turn out to be backups for a reason. Obviously with the big contract the Seahawks almost have to give Flynn first crack and it is only preseason so who knows how he will look when regular season starts, but I'm thinking Kevin Kolb like results.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 02:55 PM) Ok so i'm not sure where to put this but it does involve an ex-Sox, Nick Swisher. Deadspin has been running a Q&A with an anonymous sports PR guy this afternoon. He's made contributions before but since he's anonymous who knows the validity. Anyways, I just found the following question and answer humorous since Swish has been kind of a contentious topic here and how he got along with his teammates Q: Best athlete feud we don't know about A: Nick Swisher and his teammates Link is here by the way. Some pretty interesting stuff throughout the rest of it too I bet if Swisher came to the Wsox when Ventura or almost anyone else was manager he wouldn't be so disliked here.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 02:35 PM) Except he wasnt even good that great college, the only time he actually played in relevant games. Since 2004, he has only played over 10 games in 1 season, 2007 LSU, here were his stats: Cmp Att Pct Yds Y/A AY/A TD Int Rate 202 359 56.3 2407 6.7 6.5 21 11 125.8 Otherwise the guy has only thrown 130 passes in 4 years. In comparison here are Wilson's stats last year at Wisconsin: Cmp Att Pct Yds Y/A AY/A TD Int Rate 225 309 72.8 3175 10.3 11.8 33 4 191.8 Here is something even more crazy: Flynn's career stats (including college) 569 passes, 4111 yards, 30 tds, 18 ints Wilson Career: 1489 passes, 11720 yards, 109 tds, 30 ints Flynn is completely untested at basically every level. Posting college stats doesn't have much to do with the NFL, it's a completely different game and guys that dominate in college can be undrafted or late round picks. The reason Flynn got the contract is because every time he filled in for GB he posted very good games and constantly people put too much hype in small sample sizes of backup QB's.

QUOTE (coco1997 @ Aug 21, 2012 -> 12:21 PM) If his dog has been sick and it's been distracting him, I can't blame him at all. Similar to how Dunn's family problems probably contributed to his performance last year. It isn't comparable at all, yes it is sad when your pet dies but if you really think that is enough of a distraction to suck as much as Beckham has he doesn't belong on a roster.

QUOTE (YASNY @ Aug 18, 2012 -> 02:53 AM) I can be a big deal. If a team in our division plays minor league talent when we need the to beat the Tigers just because they want to see what they can do. Of course, that can work both ways, but think about the fact that Detroit plays the Twins and Royals the last week of the season. That could prove to a division won or lost. The only difference of the royals would be will Myers for franceour which is an upgrade or their starters which all suck anyways.....

Funny how Hanley leaves and starts tearing the cover off the ball.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 18, 2012 -> 11:28 AM) It was a pretty simple equation. haha For some reason I was thinking of the gentlemens club not actual diamonds, weird that's what came to mind first given I've never even been there.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 18, 2012 -> 03:10 AM) This is a public service announcement: Diamonds=200% more bj's Not sure what that means

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 17, 2012 -> 04:43 PM) So you're saying that you focus on physical characteristics when choosing candidates to vote for? I think physical characteristics do come into play just because it is the first thing we notice about people.... obviously you hope that isn't the only thing one would go by.

QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Aug 17, 2012 -> 04:30 PM) I don't think so. They had that falling out but that's in the past and probably all has been forgiven. They were good friends and had a great chemistry. Though both are older now they still sound pretty good together. No reason it wouldn't continue. Stone is definitely a better announcer but Hawk does seem to actually enjoy having Wimpy next to him..... I know some didn't like DJ but back when he was announcing it seemed like Hawk had more fun too.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 17, 2012 -> 07:10 AM) That's the whole issue from a competitive aspect. For 130+ games, you have a 25-man roster and have to manage accordingly to what happens in games, like extra innings, a really bad start, injuries, etc. But suddenly for the last 30 games during crunch time, you suddenly change the rules and the way you need to manage? Playoff spots are on the line, but now it's cool if you have 30 players on your roster to play in a game, not 25 anymore. As flavum said earlier, they at least need to institute a rule that a 25-man roster needs to be submitted before every game. Well there also is the factor it's such a long season much easier to overcome a 2 game slump because one SP taxed the hell out of your bullpen or whatever, when it comes down to 30 games that isn't much time to makeup games. Most of the times all these extra players end up as pinch runners or late game replacements when game is out of hand so don't see the big deal regardless.
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 09:03 PM) The expanded roster rule is one of the dumbest rules in all of sports. Let's play by one set of roster rules for 80% of the season, but then when it gets to crunch time, let's just change it all up and let teams add extra players. /rant Couldn't disagree more, I like it if nothing else get to see some futuresox early and long season gives some guys a break before post-season play. Not too mention, if you have a starter go out early for whatever reason it wont cripple you for 2 or so games at the most important time of the season.

For the first time in my life I didn't get a job I interviewed for, kind of in disbelief.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Aug 15, 2012 -> 03:00 PM) 1. Hawkins 2. Thompson 3. Barnum 4. Castro 5. Johnson 6. Sanchez 7. Beck 8. Walker 9. Mitchell 10. Molina Santiago and Axelrod are no longer prospects in my eyes. They fit in this group otherwise. I don't think Axelrod fits into the group regardless, Santiago isn't an official prospect anymore but I think I'd have him at 4 or 5 if he was.

Had my first real job(post college) interview a couple weeks back thought it went well. My friend said the person has been on vacation this week and I should do a follow up call tomorrow when he is back. I sent him an email a couple days after thanking him for the time etc., what exactly do you say in a phonecall?

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 14, 2012 -> 09:54 AM) Hector in three starts so far at AAA: 14.2 IP, 9 H, 0 R, 6 BB, 13 K If he can just cut down the walks a little he definitely has what it takes to b a major league starter.

Supposedly their was a big scene dealing with Bane's backstory that was cut from the final movie, they really don't go into detail about him much, it's all about the kid who you assume is Bane until the end. It was a good movie but yeah after the first two left a bit to be desired.
-
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 12, 2012 -> 02:56 PM) Yeah ok, the cops not shooting Bane or the rebels not shooting Batman is forgiveable, because movies need to have dumb people who don't do things the easy way, or can't shoot a gun straight, that's not really a big deal, but the way Bane died!!?!?! Seriously! That was just awful. I actually forgot he even died. Later in the movie I was thinking "I wonder if Bane will be in the next one....wait....did he die? Did Catwoman really kill him that easily?". The entire movie Bane was a super badass and in 1 minute he went to 2nd fiddle goon and than dead.
