Well if he has a good post-season the rest of the way he will get some more money. While his avg. wasnt great he definitely helped his cause the first series... so far not so much this one but a lot of games to be played left. People forget how hard it is to watch Konerko during the season sometimes... I like the guy but man THE PRICE IS WRONG b****!

Cabrera has never been the offensive player Furcal is and while he can steal some bases not nearly as much as Furcal....Also Cabrera is older 2 and has been "potential" the whole time.

QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Oct 13, 2005 -> 03:31 AM) im still pretty sure that Paul didnt get ALLLLLL glove on that ball..... i think the call was right. Paul is a pussy, and his mistake cost his team..... give the AL's best record an extra out and see what happens. we win, they lose. Dont kid yourself it was clear as day he got his glove on all of the ball... He didnt give us an extra out the Umps horrible mistake did.. that being said as long as it goes in our favor Ill take it.

Furcal is a defensive upgrade... id say more range and better arm although not by much in both spots but on offense he is much better... He has hit HR's while in a pitchers park so at the Cell he should hit 4-5 more... and he can probably steal 40-50 bases with us 2.... Him and Pods doing that could be lethal.

Im glad Lecroy and Rivas will be gone while not great players them along with Ford always seem to kill us.

I thought it was only rest of the pre-season wtf?

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 06:07 AM) They'll be tired, but when they cross the lines, adrenaline will be enough for them to get by. I think they are more concerned with Byrd having to pitch when he's not 100% (he was up in the pen today, so he won't be quite 100%). Idonno adrenaline isnt the same in baseball as it is an any other sport where you are a lot more active... in baseball they will be sitting down in the dugout a lot or standing around on the field....

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 06:09 AM) Garland starts game 4. Everything ive seen and heard has Garland going game 3.... good thing 2 because Freddy is a good pitcher but idonno if its just me but it always seems like he can never hold a lead... you give him it than the next inning or 2 he lets the other team tie.

If there were people in the house that couldnt get out and they didnt do anything that would be 1 thing. But if these assholes want to be cheapos and their lifes are not in danger let their house burn down. Just teaches everyone a listen that being cheap doesnt pay off.

Just throw Vlad junk pitches around the plate... If he swings at them more likely than not he will make an out and if he hits it he clearly deserved it lol... but dont let him beat us and we should be able to shutdown their offense. Hopefully that fastball Gordon threw at Bengie Molina's arm will keep him from hurting us.

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 04:44 AM) I was shocked when the Steelers traded up in the first round for the first time in franchise history to draft Troy. Now its just another great draft pick. You won't find a better safety in the league. Hopefully Ben will be ok also, looked like he hyperextended his knee, was good to see it was only iced up and not carted off before the end of the game. He was also bending it and putting pressure on it walking a little, so hopefully no tears either, knock on wood. To me he is Roy Williams with long hair.... same strengths and same weaknesses... -
QUOTE(BlackBetsy @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 05:03 AM) Byrd pitched Friday night, so Saturday-Sunday-Monday -- he'll be on short rest for this game. Washburn is the only starter they have that could possibly be on full rest for Game 1. If Washburn still isn't good for Game 2, I'm not quite sure who the Angels could throw - Lackey would only have 2 days' rest, Santana is cooked from throwing 85 pitches, and Colon is just plain cooked. They'd be really screwed. But I think Washburn should be OK for Game 2 - I had strep throat one time and it wasn't really anything...just a sore throat. Yeah when I had strep throat it was actually not as bad than a lot of sore throats ive had in the past but still when your sick you get tired so if he still is sick we should work the counts and get him out. We should be up 2-0 going to Anaheim... we could be down 0-2 but by all means we should be up 2-0.

Who will win the NFC North?

If we can do somewhat decent the next few games and Grossman can come back with us still in contention I like our odds.... but right now all of them have looked so bad its hard to tell. Keep in mind even though Detroit beat the Ravens their offense has been worse than ours if you can imagine that and they comitted 21 penalties that game... -

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 04:08 AM) You can definitely still get a stud TE after round 1. Witten was a 3rd round pick, who slipped and he was only 20 in his 1st season. And really over the past few seasons, they have been used a lot more in the passing attack for a lot of offenses. Yeah I know you can get one in the 3rd or 4th round but if their is one who is talented enough to go in the 2nd round I think we should grab him... hell if there is one talented enough to be in the 1st id want to take him unless there was an absolute stud CB like DeAngelo Hall or that sort. -
QUOTE(GasHeGone @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 04:44 AM) 1) Are we getting Byrd on full rest? 2) Didn't it strike you as a little odd as to how overjoyed the Angels were to advance? They seemed a lot more excited than the Sox. Probably trying to enjoy victory while they can... 3) Can someone explain the "Bronze Titan" banner to me? Well considering we were ahead of the red sox 2 games to none and the angels were on the brink of elimination wouldnt you be more excited... and our guys were plenty excited too. And I think Byrd is on full rest but he sucks anyways... not saying it is a guarantee but if there ever was one in the playoffs it should be.

This is great we get Paul Byrd game 1 and than either Lackey starting his 2nd game on 3 days rest or a Washburn recovering from being sick.

Can you imagine our bullpen if we had BJ Ryan.

I still think in the draft next year if we end up with a top 10 pick get a stud CB, than try to get a difference maker at the TE position... doesnt have to be Tony G, Gates, or Crumpler but a guy like Written or something around that. Than spend the 3,4, and 5 round picks on OL depth. Than only f/a that needs to be brought in is someone to take Hunter Hillenmeyer's spot and are team will be complete. We will have the depth at QB position with Orton a year under his belt and Rex healthy so that problem should take care of itself next season. But yeah id say the 3 major holes on our team is a stud CB, OLB, and TE. Maybe bring in a decent WR to compete for the 2-3 spot but I believe in Bradley and that he will step up his game. Than since our backups on the O-Line are like Q-Mitchell, and that St. Clair or whatver guy from Miami we could take some players there. I think Garza will be a starter next year and Brown will retire. And after that first series Garza really looked good out there and Metcalf has looked good at the other guard spot too. -
QUOTE(greg775 @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 01:58 AM) We need Paulie. We can't keep subtracting power guys from our team and not have it show up in the standings. I see no need we keep Everett around, but keep Paulie. Last time we subtracted power we went what 17 games up in the standings if thats what you mean . Whatevr the case if we dont bring back Konerko we need to spend some money to improve this offense I dont care how with power or w/out.

QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 03:41 AM) As somebody who flew to California and back this weekend, this news brings me great joy, because I know what they're getting. Except they got their private jet and its like first class when your going to Europe or somewhere far. Especially if its the yankees probably.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 03:35 AM) I always thought the Bears won a Superbowl in spite of Ditka's coaching, not because of it. His stay in New Orleans again proved he is a highly overrated coach. Additionally, his politcal diatribes reveal that he is not the smartest guy either. A likable football guy, yes. God, ... hell no. Exactly Dikta wasnt even a good coach.... but yet gets treated like he is a saint around here.... If we are going to parade around celebrating guys it should be Payton and Halas.

Eh its all over the internet already.... but maybe thats why they havent shown it 2 much on ESPN and college gameday crap.

Although I dont think the Bills are missing him 2 much lol... I think they can be good with Holcomb running the show. -
I dont think it was in the area Bin Laden is hiding out at... scary thought is I was around that area last summer..

He is an overated coach really...... George Halas deserves all the praise.
