  1. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 06:04 AM) Are you serious? Plenty of people wanted Ozzie gone prior to the 2011 season, myself included. Even more saw the light last year. You were actually one of the group who wanted Ozzie gone. I guess I don't know what your angle is here. Given his posts in the NBA thread, I think it was just that time of the month for him.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 02:27 AM) I'm enjoying somebody else getting into it instead of me. I wonder if Ozzie would be booed if we played the Marlins in the Cell. That would be the lowest day of my Sox fandom. A WS winning manager conceivably could get booed by the home fans. Hopefully he'd be treated like Youk was in Boston or close to that. It's good they didn't come this season, Dont know what schedule is next season but I'd assume he would be cheered now. Especially because the avg fan wasn't aware of all the drama and way he treated his last season with us.
  3. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 01:11 AM) It was a bit of humor. Sorry for the confusion. He's a super talent who got into his sport at a young age, works his ass off, yet many people dislike him. General comparison. Ok, didn't pick up on that. I don't think people disliked Lebron coming into the league though.
  4. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 11:48 PM) Bryce Harper is my favorite non-White Sox player. He's LeBron with better publicists. He isn't nearly or will he ever have the following for lack of a better word than Lebron.... not sure how he has better publicists. Kid isn't very much liked either.....
  5. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 12:38 AM) That's bulls***, IMO. For how much umpires are expected to do and see, they do an incredible job at the major league level. A decent amount of them do a good job.... the problem is the ones that perform poorly or think they are bigger than the game don't face much penalty. That at least is true in football/baseball, in basketball almost all of them are terrible.
  6. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 06:51 PM) This is an emergency start. He was never expected to start for us this year. I'm aware, just saying in general I don't see much of a major league career for him after my expert scouting of seeing him pitch one inning.
  7. I don't know how he will pitch rest of this game, but I don't see a long major league career for this kid.
  8. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 01:49 PM) JIM BOWDEN ‏@JimBowdenESPNxm If the Tigers can get Justin Upton for Castellanos and Boesch +then trade for Infante...OF defense of Upton,Jackson,Berry (Young DH) Boesch doesn't have much trade value and it's going to take more than 1 prospect to get Upton.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 04:27 PM) True. I have to admit I have a positive impression when I think of Ditka. Well that explains everything, Dikta is pretty much Ozzie. Lots of fans love him but the diehards think he was the only reason we didn't win multiple championships.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 03:50 AM) Reed's done a very good job as a rookie, so far. He definitely hasn't pitched poorly enough to have the job taken away from him. I would look at KW in the 6th-7th inning Jason Frasor role, basically reinforce or replace Nathan Jones and push him further down in the pecking order. I know his era is a bit high but I think Omogrosso is going to be a solid bp arm the rest of the way, probably moreso than Jones. Assuming the cost is right another vet arm plus addition of Crain would make our bullpen look very pretty though.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 03:09 AM) I don't despise them, but they have their faults, too, and like Ozzie were looking out for No. 1. I like all members of our current team, though currently I'm not crazy about Matt (Light me up) Thornton. Cooper went crying to Jerry or KW, I forget which one, wanting his new contract. In answer to your last question, I will defend the guys on our current team as well. I like this team. Did he go crying or did he ask for a new contract, you make it sound so negative but didn't Ozzie do the same thing you don't portray him so negatively. And of course everyone has faults nobody even the great Theo Epstein are perfect, but you sure do hate a lot on KW when he deserves maybe more credit with how you have downplayed a managers impact in some of your posts. Ozzie has some positives but with the type of guy he is for better or worse he will eventually overstay his welcome and that is what happened with the Wsox, this is the first year without him it was an ugly divorce so of course there will be some hate for the guy. I don't know if you were around but Mike Dikta was similar to a lesser extent and now he is a legend.
  12. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 02:45 AM) That is a distinct possibility and anyone who doesn't doubt Sale pitching 160+ is naive in my opinion. I hope he pitches for 2,000 innings for us with a single major injury or set back but that's not too realistic. Banking on Sale being an ace this year for he entire year and into the playoffs - also not too realistic. I'm not saying it would be ideal for Sale pitching so many innings his first season starting after being in the bullpen, but I don't see them shutting him down and almost killing their chances in the playoffs either.
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 01:58 AM) Let me try this one final time. Why do you folks despise our WS winning manager? Take out the "quitting on the team" and actions of his "kids" and you tell me what he's done so badly that makes you hate him. Don't forget this is a franchise with other villains like unlikeable Kenny Williams and the save-my-own-back-man, Mr. Cooper. Why do you despise our WS winning GM and Pitching Coach? And what are you implying, Cooper sabotaged Ozzie his last season here or something..... I don't hate Ozzie, I will need a few years before I warm up to him but I don't understand why you defend him so much but not the guys that are still with us part of a first place team that probably should be worse than last seasons team given the amount of injuries/rookies.
  14. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 02:28 AM) There actual are doubts as to Sale even pitching in the postseason - period. Unless he starts to completely collapse at the end of season no way in hell they shut him down in the playoffs.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 10:09 PM) Johan Santana? No idea, probably someone from their bullpen, veteran reliever, but don't follow the Mets closely so no idea. Don't they have big Jon Rauch? Not that I'd want him back.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 04:07 PM) http://www.chicagotribune.com/videogallery...or-Zach-Greinke Marty34 is Rosenbloom? Advocates trading for Greinke, says we can't afford Garza, Dempster or Hamels, but that we have the advantage because the Yankees, Red Sox and Dodgers are afraid to bring Zach to the big city. Whatever. I can understand not being able to afford Hamels but the Wsox definitely can afford Dempster and I'm fairly confident Garza as well if they wanted to go that route.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 01:50 PM) Honestly, how many other white guys who have that hard of a swing, who swing at pretty much everything, are there? To me Vlad seems like the best comp because their styles are soooo similar. Trumbo is white swings hard and has a pretty big strike zone. Hell Hosmer and Francouer both are white swing hard and don't care if it's a ball or not.
  18. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 16, 2012 -> 09:25 PM) I don't care about him being 27 and I don't care if he's had a couple bad outings. He's a rookie pitching under intense circumstances. Give him more than a handful of outings before you write him off. Would you prefer Ohman? I'll take my chances on the lefty with the plus fastball. He may not pan out, but now's the time to find out. As a lefty specialist I would prefer Ohman
  19. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 16, 2012 -> 08:50 PM) He's a f***ing rookie. Maybe he's feeling a little pressure pitching in the 8th inning of a tie game at Fenway in the middle of a pennant race. I'm pissed as anyone about the HR, but rookies are going s*** the bed occasionally. He clearly has some nasty stuff when his command is on. If you can't accept the growing pains, I don't know how you ever expect to develop young talent. Did you not watch his previous outting when he let a guy walk to 2nd and 3rd practically and got him home on a wild pitch.... he is also 27 and we are in a playoff chase so with Septimo no I do not have patience for a guy that can't throw strikes or get lefties out which is his only role on the team.
  20. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 16, 2012 -> 08:39 PM) Lol...he needs to be demoted? Overreact much? Also, Robin is the one to blame. Septimo told the world he didn't have it this inning by walking the first two batters. Robin should have listened and taken him out. I'm not making it off this decision... the guy isn't good. He can't throw strikes and in the bullpen that makes you useless.
  21. He left a guy who is our lefty specialist in against 3 lefties and everyone is screaming bloody murder lol.... the fault isn't on Robin it's on Septimo who needs to be demoted.
  22. I would have not predicted a 1-1 score after 4 with the two starters on the mound.
  23. QUOTE (kapzk @ Jul 16, 2012 -> 07:07 PM) Remarkable inning for Axelrod He actually pitched inside a bunch that inning and got outs, who'd of thunk it.
  24. Seemingly Dylan refuses to pitch inside, everything outside outside and more outside.
