There is absolutely nothing wrong with Upper Deck Box either. People may grumble about not having lower level access but I couldn't care less. The beer is just as cold and the Polish is just as good up there as it is downstairs and the bathroom lines aren't as bad.

Got Opening Night (Upper Deck, 533, Row 17), a couple for a Cardinals game for my co-worker and a couple for the wife and me for Elvis Night (Her fav promo of the yr). All good!

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Feb 10, 2006 -> 06:46 PM) The only thing that worries me about teaching him a cutter is the torque on his arm that already had a sttress fracture in it. The cutter would be a devistating pitch and all, but its a lot of stress on the arm. Even more than a curve at times. If Bobby can throw his fastball in the strikezone and get his curveball in the strikezone he will be unhittable. Its hard to hit the 99 mph fastball and then sit back on the 12/6 curve. If he can get the fastball over for strike one and start to go up the ladder, that plus his curve will be a devastating combo. Closers dont need a s***load of pitches. They just need 2 that are nasty. If they throw strikes and get ahead its half the battle. I wholeheartedly agree....If in Spring Training Bobby learns to throw the curveball over for strikes instead of in the dirt, the battle's half won when he comes in the 9th....Throwing two curveballs for Strikes 1 & 2, then throwing a high heater = 100 He Gawns!

Sox sign 10-year sponsorship deal with Miller Beer
Allsox replied to SSH2005's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Like Miller products but LUV Leinenkugel products MORE! Glad they have Honey and Red over there but if they can get the BerryWeis, I'd be at the Beers of the World all game long -
Installation of green seats = Lots of $$$$ 40000 Sox fans occupying all available seats for all 81 games = Priceless

QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Feb 10, 2006 -> 04:46 PM) Were the Bulls visits televised when they won them in the 90's? Jordan didn't make the 1st one and then, I didn't think it was a big deal either. Ozzie's on vacation with his family? Good for him. Spring Training start next week so the guy needs all the relaxation time he can get!

I just bought a replica road grey customized jersey with the World Series champion patch at Triple Threat for MUCH less than I paid for my fiancee's jersey at X-mas so thanx everyone! Wish I looked there back in Dec

Pretty good analysis with the exception of the batting order....Think it's Thome 3rd with Dye 5th with Gooch ahead of AJ in the 6, 7 spot....Rather have AJ driving in Gooch than vice versa.... Otherwise, pretty scary that most of the publications have said barring injury that the White Sox should get back to the playoffs
-
Assuming Ozzie goes with 11 pitchers, the bench of 5 includes: Mackowiak - Can play 3B, 2B, CF and a solid lefty bat Ozuna - Can play a little 3B, SS, OF and steal a base in the pinch (Gm 2 of ALCS proved that) Widger - Gives AJ a breather, can turn on a fastball and handles pitching staff well Gload - Can spell Paulie at 1B, Dye in RF and is another lefty bat Borchard - If he has good spring, I can definitely see Oz and Kenny bringing him back to Chi to backup the OF and provide some real pop from both sides of the plate in a pinch.... We've all seen Ozzie loves to play the bench as much as possible so for this yr, I won't mind seeing the Sun lineup with those guys playing here and there....What does everyone else think?

QUOTE(caffeinated @ Jan 29, 2006 -> 11:42 PM) What the heck is a "sports hernia?" I had never heard that term. Here is a link that will teach you all about the inguinal hernia: (click on the "Insturctions" button, then "Start The Module") Inguinal hernia interactive tutorial It took me about 8 weeks to recover from that surgery. Great slideshow but did anyone else find it very painful to read?

QUOTE(easyw @ Jan 28, 2006 -> 03:54 PM) I just got back from my first and last SoxFest. There is a difference between "fans" and "fanatics". It was creepy. really creepy. These people carrying around stuffed Sox bears, seeking autographs, and coming up with their own long lists for stadium improvements aren't normal. I need to take a shower. I agree, any adult looking for another adult's signature is creepy to me....Kids=yes, people older than 13=creepy. This was my 4th SoxFest and definitely my last....The seminars are my favorite part of SoxFest and they were absolute zoos this past Sat with the limited space....Why can't the Sox hold this at McCormick Place?!?

Frank Thomas signs with Oakland Athletics
Allsox replied to OfficerKarkovice's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 03:35 PM) Again... don't believe everything you hear. Kenny's had it in for Frank for a long time. Ken Williams isn't Mr Innocent. Not even close. If there is a right way to tell someone's been fired (Which Frank seems to know), I'd love to hear one from him then. -
Frank Thomas signs with Oakland Athletics
Allsox replied to OfficerKarkovice's topic in Pale Hose Talk
*Sigh*, I just finished reading Frank's comments from today's Sun-Times and I really wish he would think before he speaks....I had the feeling JR was going to retire Frank's jersey when the A's came to Chicago but now, I wouldn't blame him or Kenny if they didn't do anything for him.... And Frank, if you wanted a personal conversation with Kenny, PICK UP THE GODDAMN PHONE NEXT TIME! :banghead -
Frank Thomas signs with Oakland Athletics
Allsox replied to OfficerKarkovice's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Sad for me to see Frank wearing colors other than the White Sox' BUT I'll always remember him as the most feared hitter in the 90's and he left here a World Series Champion -
I'd keep Contreras for the entire yr as this World Baseball Classic thing really has me worried about how Buehrle and Garcia will come out of it Wouldn't surprise me if Ozzie gives some spot starts for McCarthy in April for either one if they're not ready....Contreras being there would really help in those early months of the season....

Would 2yrs. 20 mil do it for the Count? He's still got the best stuff on the pitching staff and finally found his confidence. Would hate to trade him.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Dec 13, 2005 -> 05:08 AM) Well Boras is never going to be short of clients ill say that much.... but yeah he is starting to lose some of idonno what you call it power? Teams not named the Mets are getting smarter on how they spend money. The only team dumb enuff to even listen to Bora$'s ridiculous demands are the Detroit Tigers and they still sucked last yr....Signing Kenny Rogers to 16 million over 2 yrs ensures another 4the place finish for that team....Why the Tigers can't see they're Bora$'s personal dumping grounds for his clients is beyond me
-
I think it should be mandatory that Scott Boras should always be spelled Borass or Bora$ on this board I dunno what a fair offer is for Joe....3 yrs, 6 million maybe?!? After Joe came back from his fractured finger, the guy was a stud in Sept and in the playoffs BUT the first 4 months were pretty quiet....

QUOTE(dmbjeff @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 10:49 PM) i hope disgusting was a good term cause thome is a stud No, no, I definitely meant it in a good way!

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 10:39 PM) My only problem I see is Thome K's, how is Ozzie going to handle a 1-4 3K day for thome? Thome's yearly OBP totals are absolutely disgusting: '94 - .359 '95 - .438 '96 - .450 '97 - .423 '98 - .413 '99 - .426 '00 - .398 '01 - .416 '02 - .445 '03 - .385 '04 - .396 The guy does strike out a ton but he does average 100 walks a yr as well. Plus, a career .281 batting avg isn't bad
-
I voted yes....I'll miss A-Row's defense and personality but seeing as Thome absolutely destroyed the Sox, it'll be very nice to seem him crush other teams in a Sox uni.... I also think Kenny isn't done trading....If he can get Juan Pierre from FL for cheap (And Lord knows a bag of balls would do the trick nowadays for FL) the lineup would be very interesting if he also resigns Paulie: Pods LF Pierre CF Dye RF Thome DH Konerko 1B Iguchi 2B Pierzynski C Crede 3B Uribe SS If Kenny does sign Paulie back, we may have then seen the last of the Big Hurt Then again, if that's what it would take to defend the title, I'm all for it

White Sox acquire Jim Thome per ESPNnews
Allsox replied to Punch and Judy Garland's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Very interesting....Guess Philly really wanted out of that Thome deal....If Jim is healthy and Paulie resigns, the Sox have a great 1-2 punch in the middle of the order then Will miss A-Row so let's hope Brian Anderson can provide some stellar D! -
The Thome trade doesn't make much sense when Delgado can be had for much less than Rowand and Contreras....At least Delgado's healthy and I would think the Sox have more in the minors to offer to FL than the Mets would....

Excellent move by Brooks, pack in the fans for as many games as you can, nothing wrong with that.... And I'm sure the players can wait an extra 24 hrs to get their rings, sheesh....From what I've heard, Tiffany's will make any player a replica of the World Series Trophy so I'm sure they can look at that for nostaligia sakes'....

QUOTE(timotime @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 05:59 PM) since ive never been there, i am asking: what is it about HHH Dome that is bad? ive only heard it's crappy, never why. id assume because of the studpid wall in the outfield, the echoes, the artificialness of it. I've been there twice in the last 2 yrs for Bears/Vikings and while the seating area is ok (No obstructed views), the sound system is terrible, the bathrooms were small and scarce and there is no room to walk on the backstreet alley they call a concourse....The carney-like atmosphere outside the Dome before the game is pretty neat but then you hafta to go inside that dump :puke
