    Garland

I gotta give Jon props for pitching decently last night as I thought he was going to get shelled. Would love to see him go into the 7th at least but I'll take baby steps at this point. Heard the same comment from Hawk about how Garland hasn't had help from the bullpen and shook my head. The guy's given up 19 HRs 3 months in, what the bullpen has to do with that, I'd luuuuuuv to hear Hawk's answer. Though Hawk did make a good pt about the '03 Sept game where the Twins rallied from 10 - 2 in the 9th like the Sox did Sun nite and how that ignited the Twins the rest of the way. Looks like the Sox are riding that same effect right now
  2. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 11:22 AM) You die first, get it? Your friends might get me in a rush, but not before I make your head into a canoe. How about right before Doc and Johnny Ringo's showdown: Doc: "Play for blood, remember?" Ringo: "I was just foolin' about." Doc: "I wasn't." And going back to tonight's game, I'll put the over/under on runs scored to 18, 10 of them allowed by Garland. I hope I'm wrong but if he keeps nibbling away instead of pounding the inside with fastballs and sinkers, it's batting practice for Texas.
  3. QUOTE(zach23 @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 04:48 PM) Why don't the Sox just realize that there are some things that need to be done so that ALL fans are happy ALL the time. They just need to do the following: Change all the seats so that they change color depending on the person looking at them. So if someone likes blue or green or red, or whatever else, the seats will read their mind and change to that color just for them. Others looking at them will see the color they like. Charge only what each individual person is willing to pay for admission and personally deliver the tickets to them when it is convienent for them. If someone doesn't want to pay, let them in free and they should be able to sit in the best seat even if there is someone else that wants to sit there. The Sox just have to figure out how to get everyone into the seat they want at all times. Make it so that all seats point in the direction that all people like at all times with no obstructions. The seats must be soft enough for those that like soft and firm enough for those that like firm. Get every player that every fan wants regardless of cost or roster size. If that player then doesn't perform to the satisfaction of any fan anywhere, get rid of him and get better players. The Sox should have a team that always goes 162-0 and wins every World Series. Every fan in the park should see the lineup they want to see even if that means 30 guys must be in the starting lineup. The Sox must simply figure out how to get that to work. Everyone must get to park for free right next to the stadium. Everyone should be allowed to show up 5 minutes before game time and still be able to get in to see the first pitch. There should also be lots of bars and restaurants real close to the park, but there must still be parking lots for everyone as well, and the bars and restaurants must not turn the neighborhood into Wrigleyville. For those that hate bars and restaurants, they must be invisible. For those that walk to the park and hate parking lots, the lots must be invisible and they should be able to see nice houses and trees. The Sox should have every announcer and commentator on earth on the payroll doing their own play-by-play and commentary. The fans can then choose from 1000 different radio stations to hear only the play-by-play and color commentator that they want to hear. Same with TV. Every newspaper must write only about the Sox. Every sports radio station must only talk about the Sox. The stadium must be willing to morph into different stadiums for each fan's taste. If one person likes the old Comiskey better then it should morph into that. If they like the old park but with the new park's concourse, then it should do that. If someone likes seeing the skyline, then the park must rotate so they can. Nobody should wait in any line for anything. Vendors should be able to read everyone's mind and bring them the food they want immediatley. Each fan should have a personal vendor for each type of food and beverage and their own personal restroom. Every type of food and beverage ever created should be available with a vendor to personnaly serve it to each fan. The fans should decide if they want to pay anything or eat and drink for free. If the Sox would just stop being so cheap and address these things then everyone would be happy.
  4. Jon Garland, hope you took some good notes from the best pitcher in baseball! Way to go Jose and Brian's starting to look feisty at the plate
  5. They went down fighting till the end, can't ask for more than that!
  6. If it's a another blowout, Jim better be sitting on the bench and Ross Gload taking some hacks late!
  7. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 24, 2006 -> 08:34 PM) Mack hasn't been that bad in center imo. Don't get me wrong, he's nothing special out there but he's servicable, imo scotty wouldn't even be servicable. The few times he was out there last year, he was absolutely horrendous. Having "servicable" defense out in CF in hopes of defending a World Series title isn't acceptable considering the fact Brian's glove is more than that. We hear the Sox pride themselves on defense and pitching so this is a little disappointing. Especially when the Sox are #2 in runs scored. They don't need Mack's bat as much as they need Brian's glove out there for a pitching staff with a shaky bullpen that doesn't get tons of K's.
  8. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 21, 2006 -> 11:06 PM) Have you checked his offensive production lately, he's been pretty pathetic at the plate the whole series. His inability to hit Zambrano today just added to the frustration that many have had with him. Also his inability to turn a double play did not help his case. You have to remember just because a player was good during the World Series does not mean they get a free pass for life, this is a whole new season and Uribe has yet to do anything this year. I know he's been hitting like s*** but his glove has been rock steady this yr. Like I asked Nuke, what other games has he played horrible defense this yr?!? I know today losing hurts, especially cuz the Cubs beat the Sox the way the Sox beat everyone last yr but that's the way it goes sometimes. The Sox took the series and now, they face the one team they almost always play bad against. I'm worried about the A's than Juan defense the rest of the year for sure.
  9. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 21, 2006 -> 11:05 PM) I never said Uribe sucks but even you have to agree that he needs to get his act together. He's been nothing short of brutal at the plate and his defense is not what it was last season. Nuke, gotta say first you should be the only one to post White Sox Winner Threads cuz quite simply, you da man! But today was the only day I can remember Juan making an error that cost some runs this yr. What other games has he played lazy defense?
  10. I'm so disappointed in Sox fans with this thread. Uribe makes one bad play today and all of a sudden, he sucks now?!?!? I didn't think people needed a reminder of how clutch this guy was in the World Series but since it's the stupid Cubs series, I guess some people still invest more emotion in it and that's pretty sad I'm more mad about the Jacque Jones HR (The Sox hafta be the only team he hits well against) than Juan's error.
  11. What still gets me is you can actually see AJ not try to bump into him after he got up so Barrett really is a hot-headed douchebag. :finger
  12. Another good website for Attendance is: Sportsnetwork
  13. Hope the Sox jump on this guy McClung and spot Jon a nice 10 run cushion!
  14. QUOTE(greg775 @ May 17, 2006 -> 05:28 AM) I can't believe we have to scoreboard watch the Tigers. They need to come back to reality and start playing like the old Tigers, Maggs be damned. Way too early to be scoreboard watching. Let's hope the Sox get some of their little probs (Garland, Logan) straightened out first before we worry about the standings in mid-May. If it's mid-Aug and Garland still sucks and Logan is still up with the team not throwing strikes and the Sox are not in first, then it's time to worry.
  15. I'll believe the Tigers are real if they're hanging with us by July. Til then, Cleveland still has my full attention.
  16. Give him all the time he needs because his defense has been outstanding and not much is expected from the 9th slot when you have Thome and Konerko. Plus, the kid's OBP has been going up over the last two weeks so his recognition of pitches seems to be getting better. Kazmir's pretty good (Reminds me of Johan Santana) and he made all the Sox hitters look bad, not just Brian.
  17. 80's - Harold Baines. Every Sox childhood memory involved this guy getting a clutch hit. 90's - Frank Thomas. Was like watching a Nintendo player in real life when he was in his prime. 00's - Dunno yet. Buehrle, Crede, Pods, Konerko. Already so many lifelong memories from each of those guys so far. I'll go with Crede for his stellar defense and clutch bat.
  18. With the Crosstown Series coming upon us, I'd thought I'd gauge the interest or disinterest with this series. I, for one, get more excited when the Sox sweep a divisional foe than some team from the piss poor National League
  19. Can the Sox pitchers just plunk Hunter everytime? I'm sick and tired of watching this guy kill the Sox while he hits .240 against everyone else
  20. I hope to see that knuckler dancing all nite long and the Sox light up Santana, who has sucked ass the last few outings!
  21. I dunno about the contract situation but we ALL got to give Joe votes for the All-Star Game! I just put in 25 votes in now, hope everyone else does!
  22. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ May 9, 2006 -> 12:31 AM) Not exactly. Different composers, in fact. Pirates was written by Klaus Bedalt, who is Hans Zimmers' pupil (Zimmer did Rock, I think). The montage uses "He's a Pirate", but also bits of at least one other track from the Pirates soundtrack. Good CD. Now, what I REALLY want to know, that no one has been able to answer, is what was the music behind the World Series montage shown on Opening Night (and not shown again since the opening series)? Critic thought it was from Excalibur, but alas, that wasn't it. I'm with ya, I'd love to know what that piece of music was on Banner Night. I thought it might have been from Jurassic Park but I was wrong. I think it's a John Williams piece but I'm just guessing. If I find it, I'll post it.
  23. Well, at least the injury has nothing to do with his forearm or elbow like it was in spring training but I wouldn't take any chances. Put him on the DL so that he's 100% for the rest of the year and let's cheer on the rook!
  24. Tonight hurt and it sucked to have wasted some big HRs from Gooch, Crede and Thome and the homeplate umpire was pretty worthless behind there too. Oh well, Vazquez and Buehrle the next two days so let's take the series!
  25. I have no problem with a platoon of Ozuna/Gload out in RF till Jermaine's 100% cuz when's he's healthy, the guy is as solid as they come and we'll need his clutch bat down the line!
