  1. All I expected from Brian was to play a solid CF while he gets his feet wet in the majors. So far, the defense has been superb and it shouldn't be a shock to ANYONE that he's struggling at the plate. Why people seem so surprised at his offensive numbers is beyond me considering he's hitting 9TH! It's not like he's supposed to be putting up 3, 4 or 5 slot numbers on this team. Is he bad now? Yes. Was he supposed hit like Thome or Konerko? NO! Give the kid time and he'll be alright. It's not like he's struggling on purpose so give the kid a break.
  2. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 2, 2006 -> 06:01 PM) I know, Buehrle looked pretty damn good early on, his fastball was poppin, curve was breaking big time and his change was crazy unhittable but Widger still managed to screw it up. Maybe it's time for him to hang it up and for Stewart to take over now. Yeah, it's Widger's fault that Buehrle left EVERYTHING over the plate in Sea and today in Cle.
  3. QUOTE(knightni @ May 2, 2006 -> 06:42 PM) He did last series. Hafner hit a monster HR off of him. Yeah, I know. And you know Ozzie's going to put Boone in that situation later in the season so that's why I wished he faced Hafner again.
  4. Boone looked good, would loved to have seen him face off against Hafner as that's going to happen down the line.
  5. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 2, 2006 -> 06:30 PM) You take our normal lineup, we can absorb the two non hitters in it. When you sprinkle the 3 to 4 subs with that, you take out Dye and Thome, its a formula for crap. Buehrle giving up 3 runs in the 1st inning wouldn't have helped the regulars, let alone the subs. This loss I pin solely on Buehrle's performance and he'll be the first to tell us that once this game is over. Plus, JD's was trying to play hurt and it was a good move by Ozzie to take him out when it started raining. No need to keep playing him when it was obvious early on this wasn't the Sox' game to win.
  6. Wouldn't have mattered who was in the lineup today as Buehrle was simply not good anyway....Plus, Uribe's a regular and he's left about 8 on base so can't blame that on the Sunday Lineup....
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 27, 2006 -> 03:47 AM) I thought he was very good last year. However, his swing is way too long right now, and his game-calling has sucked. He's still better than most backup catchers. Not Widge's fault tonight that Buehrle left two pitches up.
  8. First Pods swings at 3 - 1, now Widge....C'mon guys, you need baserunners! Widge takes that, it's Ball 4 with the tying run coming to the plate.
  9. Mark's getting burned with changeups away, first Lopez drives in two and now, Ibanez take him deep. C'mon Widge, pound these f***ers IN!
  10. Now we know how opposing teams feel like when Buehrle is on top of his game and it plain sucks
  11. If anything, Washburn is doing his best Mark Buehrle imitation. Changing speeds, pounding guys inside and working quick. Sox gotta look fastball and don't miss it, otherwise, they're done.
  12. "After Dye's 2nd HR is looked like he and Gload were having a little argument in the dugout which was covered by the CSN cameras. Anyone else see this?" I saw the shot you're talking about but I didn't get the impression they were bickering
  13. Well, that game was a roller coaster and unfortunately went down at the end....Dunno why Reed was intentionally walked but whatever....Just start another streak....
  14. With the Cubs fans that show up to Comiskey, I used to get peeved they were there but when I thought about it, we should thank them for coming and to spend all the $$$ on beers and food they can since it all goes toward helping the White Sox defend their World Series title!
  15. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 04:14 PM) Oh I'm with you, I'm not debating who's the better in the postseason I'm just tired of hearing people say that Mark doesn't show up for big games. The guy had a 3.47 era last year in the playoffs and some people on here make it seem like he was horrible. I agree, arguing about who was better between Buehrle/Contreras in the '05 playoffs is like arguing who's hotter between Jessica Alba/Jessica Simpson. In the end, they're both smoking!
  16. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 06:43 PM) I'm psyched for the trip to Anaheim. Any so-cal soxtalkers heading down to the orange curtain for next weekend's series? Friday: Freddy vs. Weaver Saturday: Contreras vs. Escobar Sunday: Garland vs. Santana should be a tough series For that Saturday game, Ozzie should bat Crede 4th, considering how Joe OWNED Escobar in the ALCS
  17. Doesn't matter to me if they win 100 or 95, just get in the postseason and let the starting pitching take them back to the World Series! Boston may have Schilling and Beckett but beyond that, their rotation is crap and Cleveland's already seeing some issues with their starters as well so they wouldn't scare me too much in an ALCS if the Sox get past the ALDS (I say "if" only in respect to the Baseball Gods!
  18. QUOTE(Whitewashed in '05 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 02:30 AM) I mean as far as velocity and location. Velocity was good (98ish) and the best part was the fastball was hugging the strike zone. Curveball wasn't really there (Ump gave him a gift on Sanders) but overall, Bobby's looking like his big, bad self!
  19. HELL YEAH! GARLAND! CREDE! GOOCH TO URIBE DOUBLE PLAY WAS SWEEEEEEET! BIG BAD BOBBY!
  20. QUOTE(Finkelstein @ Apr 17, 2006 -> 09:29 PM) According to CSN's website, DirecTV channel for CSN+ is 648. Thanx for the info!
  21. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 17, 2006 -> 09:21 PM) Hawk says it every night. Is that why there's a HeavetheHawk website then?!?!?
  22. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 17, 2006 -> 09:17 PM) We are no longer on pace for a 173-0 season. Someone has to take the blame. Wonder how this board would react if I told them the Sox will lose 60 games this yr
  23. I thought the thinking around here back in spring training was if BA played solid defense and whatever he hit was just a bonus. What happened to that thinking?!? Sure, the kid's struggling with the bat, I expected him to. But he's sure as hell impressed me so far with his glove, his range and his arm in CF. Right now, he doesn't know the difference between fastball/junk but once he does, he'll be alright.
  24. Indians by far. They can just pummel you with that offense (Peralta hasn't caught his stride yet and once he does, Hafner's gonna be unstoppable, as if he isn't already ) and their defense is pretty good. The starting pitching is their Achilles heel as I don't see Johnson, Byrd and Sabathia holding up. I don't fear the Tigers (Bad defense will put some stress on that young staff) nor the Twins (Gotta score runs for Santana, Radke to win games and as long as Kyle Lohse is in the rotation, they won't be able to put any winning streaks together). Once Pods gets going along with Garland, the Sox are capable of putting together some nice long winning streaks and they'll need them to hold back Cleveland.
  25. I just saw the replay and still can't believe Gooch made that throw!
