I got this email too and was slightly interested... i go to a few games here or there per year, want to find the best way to go to games for the cheapest $$$
-
what? where did you hear this?
-
Trade with cubs, uhhhhh after Thanksgiving before Xmas break
-
this would be so, so good
-
I'd be OK giving up one of our main prospects if we ended up with Burnes and that rotation ... jeez, that's insane. Don't know why the brewers would move Burnes tho
-
True. Springer has competition from Blue Jays/Mets/others. Chance that we do not get him. Could say that we take on Blackmon + Marquez or Blackmon + ____
-
It's a new day and I'm off today so it's time to get some random chatter going in here. Offseason: Trade for Musgrove (Stevier? IDK) Trade for Blackmon (just take him on) Trade for Darvish or Lynn (whatever allows us to keep MAdrigal/Vaughn/Kopech) Sign some RP/backup defense boom im happy
-
BTW, Joe Musgrove would be a huge get. That guy could be in Cy Young contention next year.
-
No way do you trade Madrigal. My dream scenario is what @YourWhatHurts posted. Taking Darvish by also taking Heywards contract. Heyward is actually PERFECT for our team. Amazing defense, left handed, and a decent enough bat. His contract is awful, which would allow us to get Darvish for little IMO. I don't know just *how* realistic that is, but that is the type of trade a winning franchise looks to make. P.S. the part where YourWhatHurts losses us is when the Cubs have to add their #1 prospect to the deal, lol

Wow this is big news. I'm excited to see what the Cubs do. I'd try very hard to get Bryant from them. I'd love to lock Bryant up long term, that'd be absolutely insane. With that being said, I can't imagine our guys doing that -- they aren't very talented at getting stars.

Taking rumors from twitter accounts named after fast food restraunts is absolutely moronic. With that being said, finding a way to talk about players to acquire in the offseason is not.... so... lets rock with it for now and laugh at the accounts when their dead wrong. and in between it all, have some baseball analysis
-
I wouldn't trade any of Kopech/Dunning/Madrigal/Vaughn in a deal for Darvish.

It kind of sucks that there is no obvious, easy answers this offseason. This offseason will be an utter disaster if any of the following happen: 1) We go into the season with L. Garcia as our starting RF or Nomar Mazaraa. 2) We don't bring in a game changing SP (think SP1, SP2, SP3) and depth. There's some great discussion on names so far in the last few pages of this thread a) Kyle Tucker - NOT happening. Some of you are insane. It would take Vaughn + ++++++ to get Tucker. Tucker is a superstar averaging something like 35 HR + 35 SB over a full season. b) Springer - I could see this as a definite possibility. Sure, I'd be ecstatic on this move, but I don't think it's an obvious slam dunk. He's a RH, older, and costs a lot of $$$$. c) Jackie Bradley JR / Joc Pederson / Kole Calhoun - Left handers that do fit our role. Jackie for Defense, Joc for power, Kole for power. I'd be OK with any of these. d) My name to add to the list would be Andrew Benintendi. Definitely some risk with him, but young, left handed, athletic. Wonder what it would take to grab him. As far as SP goes... a) Trevor Bauer - Probably put him in the no chance in hell bin, but jeez... grabbing him would solve a ton of our offseason questions with no trade costs. b) G. Marquez - Rockies likely won't ever trade SP, but they should entertain it. I like the player, but I think the asking price is too much. c) Lance Lynn - Most logical answer here, but TEX has been insane about asking prices and it has hurt them badly. I think there is a strong chance this gets done tho! d) Darvish - If we can net him for a light package, I'm interested.

Kevin keirmaier? Defensive wizard? Worth a trade? Eh?
-
Alex Wood ? Rich Hill ? Drew Smyly ? Rick Porcello ? Why do we always have to suffer which such garbage? Once, can we be involved in a trade/free agency signing that nets us an eltie level player! I understand these are depth pieces and depth is needed, but if we're going depth, there's got to be better choices.

As others have mentioned, father time will get to him at some point. IMO, Abreu's performance this year was a bit of an anomaly. I fully expect regression next year. I don't think he'll be bad -- he's a stud, but we can't expect a performance close to that again. Same thing goes with Keuchel, he's ripe for regression which has me really worried about the rotation this upcoming year. If Abreu falters, even harshly, it won't matter as much since our offense is insane. But back to the main point -- we shouldn't be trading Vaughn. The recipe for long term success involves NOT trading Madrigal/Vaughn/Kopech/Dunning. You trade depth gambits of prospects like San Diego has done in the Clevinger deal, or how HOU did in their years. I'd happily talk/discuss pretty much everybody in our system outside of guys like Madrigal/Vaughn/Dunning

Would mark out for an Ozuna signing
-
this is the worst would you rather ever why do these have to be the choices
-
Guys lets get some juicy rumors going instead of this boring dialogue i come here for the juice but all im getting is the sweat
-
How bad are the Cubs going to be in 2021?
iWiN4PreP replied to YourWhatHurts's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Seems like it'd be smart for them to trade pieces or even think about a total rebuild -
he's not left handed
-
Sure. It's a perfect fit for our team tho.
-
You didn't ask me, but I'd say it has to be Springer 100%. I don't think there's a chance in hell we sign Bauer.. it's too perfect.

NEW offseason plan with all the updated happenings. This is my fantasy, but I try to base it in reality of course. 1) Fire TLR, professionally find a new manager and the pitching/bench coaches ASAP. Because...Duh? 2) Get a Top of the rotation arm. a) Bauer ideal, but most unrealistic b) Acquire via trade? Darvish/Marquez/Woodruff/Lynn/I don't know? I don't know what a trade looks like, but you got to get it done! A T.O.R. Starter is needed to take this team to another level. Can't do it with Lucas Giolito alone. (Keuchel is not going to be good for long) 3) Get a lower level SP via Free Agency Honestly, should be a lot here. Chris Archer/Quintana/Odorizzi, hell anyone just to get a body in for the long haul. 4) Find our RF option We really need good defense and a left handed bat without being a liability on offense. Free Agency doesn't offer the best options (Maybe Joc or Jackie bradley?), so trade might work with Gallo or Nimmo or something a long those lines. Other option would be to spend big on Springer, but as much as I'd love that, it really isn't a smart fit. 5) Try to sign Vaughn so we can get him up to the Bigs as our DH. 6) figure out the bullpen by signing or trading for some options. Maybe go after a big named target if price is right. This is not too hard

one thing is for sure... ... it's going to be one hell of an offseason as long as our White Sox are willing to spend a little bit of money.
