I disagree with the second part. I like his outlook on pitching and admire the idea of pitching every 4 days.
-
Damn, was unaware of this side of him. I'm fine passing on him. Let's go another route.

No chance the white sox and their anti analytical kinda old schoolish style stance on things will sign this legend. Our organization is not ran the way it should be in 2020

How important is it to win the Division this season?
iWiN4PreP replied to brijames1957's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Winning the division means nothing in terms of chances to win WS. -
wowowow. Crazy there HELL YEAH ELOY!

False, the twins players are not statistically less liked than any other teams players. It's the delusional fan bias that creeps into that thought process. It's pretty sickening. Fans should learn to respect their competition and life would be better :).

No they don't.

Agree with your thoughts in this thread 100%. I'm open to playoff reconstruction, league reconstruction, and even a minimal playoff expansion, but 16 teams in a 162 game season? That's absurd and swings the momentum to the complete other direction. If on one side we had teams tanking too much (now), the other side is completely meaningless regular season because all the decent teams get in. This is not a solution, this is a ploy for the owners to make more money.

Quintana and Brantley? Makes me want to throw up. I appreciate your post tho.

2021 will be a much more difficult and gruelling year. For this year, the white sox have been lucky enough to catch some breaks. They will need more depth next year.
-
This is 100% my expectation as well. They don't *have* to spend it all this offseason, but they definitely need to be paying up
-
At the price he's probably going to be going... Hell yeah I'm in! Market for these slightly older OFrs has been BAAADDD, couple in with him having a down year and he can be had for a great price. He's a player that produces near an MVP type level if he is on point. I'm in!

What is your predicted pitching rotation next year?
iWiN4PreP replied to periphery831's topic in Pale Hose Talk
You really think Kopech is going into the rotation after missing 2 years?? I don't think so. -
Absolutely, I was major IN on beni this year and strongly wanted him, but then the W'Sox got Mazara and Beni has continued to suck. But right now, we can pry away a competent/strong OF for almost nothing in the offseason. I wouldn't be mad if we got Beni (for contrast, I was mad at getting Mazara), but I don't know if it's the right move for the team right now. For example, look at the Marlins acquiring Starlin Marte. Why didn't we do that? Could of got Marte for pretty cheap and he is hitting really well with good speed (and I imagine a decent defender). Would a team heading into 2021 as top dogs rather have a guy like Starlin or a project like Beni?

Abreu, Robert and Tim have the 3 highest WAR in the AL
iWiN4PreP replied to periphery831's topic in Pale Hose Talk
That's pretty absurd -
You have too much confidence in Kopech if you think he's going to give us more than like 80 innings next year (and who's to say those will be good). I know we are all hyped on Dunning, but it's been 2 great (short) starts in his MLB career. There's still a strong chance that he's more of a SP4/5 rather than anything super good right now. Keuchel has out performed his stats and will be a year older next year. This rotation is built on crumbles right now. Lots of 'hope'.

Now if we could replace Encarnacion, we'd be looking dope edit: I guess there's black hole Mazaraa as well -
As for our other weak spot, SP, let's see: Gio, Keuchel, Cease, Dunning gives us 4. I think you have to assume two things: a) Kopech won't be ready b) Keuchel has been lucky this year and is going to regress, possibly hard. With the fact that Dunning is a bit unknown, our rotation can definitely fall apart. We need to get a solid piece for 2021. FA's: Trevor Bauer, Marcus Stroman, Tanaka, Taijuana Walker,Minor, Ray, Odorizzi, Quintana, Paxton Bauer would be huge, but if he's only signing one year deals, I'm not all too interested. I want longer term contracts. Still, a one year Bauer would work as a hold me over until kopech/others are ready. So Bauer would be a decent target depending on $$$$ demanded. All of the others suck for the most part. I wouldn't touch any of them with a 10 foot pole. In terms of trade, I don't know who I'd target either. DeGrom would be close to ideal, but would be a tough bullet, and he is aging. Clevinger would have been ideal, but that ship has sailed. Pulling some trade for Hader/Woodruff would be very intriguing, although I don't buy that the Brewers are selling Woodruff (or where ever contemplating it). I wonder if Blake Snell could be had? Signed through 2023, was in trade discussions in the past. Rays love to trade. If available, Blake Snell would be my primary wish.

Free agents next year really suck, which is really unfortunate for us. Man, I wish we had Harper. We'd be set. OF FA's appear to be: Springer, Ozuna, Pederson, Brantley None of them interest me really. Ozuna sucks at defense, so no good. Wouldn't touch Brantley due to age/injury. Not interested in a platoon bat in Pederson. Springer is mildly interesting, but the cost on him will take me out on him. That means we will need a RF'r via trade, and preferably a Lefty. I wonder if we could find a way to get Mike Yastrzemski from the Giants? Maybe they'd view him as out of their window of contention, although his team friendly contract would be difficult to acquire. Charlie Blackmon is another interesting name to acquire via trade. Few years left on his contract, although he is old now. Just an awesome hitter tho. I'd imagine the Rockies would give him up for not too much due to contract/age. Conforto would have been perfect if it wasn't for his surge this year. I think he will be untouchable now. My favorite would be Joey Gallo, seems like he has 2 more years on his arbitration contract. If he keeps struggling this year, Rangers might be willing to sell low. Absolutely love him as a baseball player! I'm not really sure of too many other Left handed options. IDK about you, but I'd be willing to pay up for Gallo or Yastrzemski.

Doesn't really make sense to me that Luis Robert is batting 7th. Shouldn't he be higher? he's amazing
