  1. Uribe walks. One out man on first for crede.
  2. Gonna be weird tonight. I differentiate everyone by there avatars first and foremost.
  3. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 06:46 PM) We need a pic of Will Ferrel and instead of saying More Cowbell he's saying More Rally Crede No. Down with will ferrel.
  4. QUOTE(Wealz @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 06:02 PM) Garland for Erstad. You don't remember that? Even before this year garland was more valuable than erstad has been the last several. One of thse trades that we should be happy never went through ( and i am hardly a big garland fan).
  5. QUOTE(Wealz @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 05:39 PM) Four years after inhereting a 2000 division winner he has zero division titles That includes a 2003 team that collapsed down the stretch. If they somehow blow this lead there will be no excuses left for Williams. The 2000 team was a bunch of over achievers that put together career years offensively ( at the time). The pitching on that team was awful too. That was not a team of greatness just like this current team isn't either. 2000 was a flukey ass year that we just mashed people to death.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 05:29 PM) Holy s***! Andruw Jones is the MVP of the National League, and that's not including his great defense. Good grief....it's not a crime to admit that other players besides White Sox personnel are excellent players. You put Andruw at the Cell, and he could have 60 homers this year. So he is worth this contract?
  7. Tony clark's contract has some odd perks to it...
  8. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 04:47 PM) Dye is at his peak value right now. Alot of Gm's will repeat what you just said. Even though this is matching his career year, and he hasnt been this good in quite awhile, we assume this is how he will be. The fact that he hasnt been injured and has played this many games, is a smoke screen in his injury filled career. This is why i think we should unload him. Dye had two years better than this one. One year he had an ops of .880 and the following year he has an ops of .951 This year he stands at an .832 ops.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 12:41 PM) Whatever the Sox do in the offseason, they need more lefty hitters (seems like we've been saying this for years). All you have to do is pitch a righty with a good slider, and you have an excellent chance at a quality start against the Sox. We need players that can hit righties better period. Doesn't mean they have to be left handed. Just like you don't need to be left handed to get lefties out ( ozzie).
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 03:19 AM) Shea's not a 3b anymore. I'd be all for an Iguchi for Beltre trade, as 2nd baseman are easier to find. The Mariners might be interested in boosting their Japanese market some more. It will be interesting to see if Crede can continue hitting well with his new hand adjustment. Sometimes I think that if we can boost our offense at DH, etc., that we should bring him back for one season. I don't really mind a 7-8-9 of AJP, Uribe, and Crede. We have got to find a legit number 3 hitter. We need two hitters in the 3/4/5 group if we are serious about next season... and that is with re-signing konerko. I see us signing mueller and trading for another hitter, either a three hole hitter or a clean-up man.
  11. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 03:13 AM) Sounds like a good risk / reward type of situation then. If the Sox could get him cheaply on a 1 year deal so he can rebound, I'd be for it. It's only his elbow as well, so it's not like Frank and the ankle injury. I think he may go for an incentive laden deal much like nomar considering he will only be 31 at the start of next season. That will give him plenty of time to still get a 3-4 year deal down the road.
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 03:02 AM) Giles and Mueller would be good additions, even though I don't think Mueller would be quite as good outside of Fenway and that supporting cast. Durazo wouldn't be a great fit, as he's injury prone and doesn't exactly fit in well with Ozzieball. My plan would be to trade Contreras, Marte, and Sweeney for Hank Blalock, and then try and find a 5th starter for about 4 or 5 million. I don't think Duque has ANY trade value. What makes blaylock's .765 ops so appealing to you? I would make that trade for the 2003 and 2004 blaylock, but for the 2005 version? They can keep him. Rather sign mueller ( one year contract with an option) and go from there. He will be cheaper in the terms of salary and what it takes to get him talent wise ( draft picks).
  13. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 02:57 AM) If you look at the payroll figures for the past 5 seasons, you will see increases in each year. With the way attendance has been, I've got no doubt that will continue, and the Sox will have to spend if they want to keep pace with the Indians and Twinkies for the next few years. Everett's probably a goner, I doubt Frank will be back. I'm more optimistic on Konerko, I still think he'll stick around unless either the Dodgers or Angels come in with a real big offer. Doubt he goes to an east coast team because he doesn't like it there. As for the offense, Brian Giles, Bill Mueller and Erubiel Durazo should be priorities in my mind. Get those 3, things will be looking much better for the Sox. We get two of those three it will be amazing. One of those three is very realistic though. If we got out all of those three and didn't even resign konerko this team would be much, much improved. Chances of us signing three of the five best offensive free agents out there? 0%.
  14. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 02:37 AM) What that 95% needs to realize is that this team was never going to be "that good" to win this division by 15 games. It was never going to happen, all the experts in the pre - season etc had us coming in 3rd and 4th. Why do you keep bringing this up? Everyone outside of the so called ''experts'' knew we would either take first place or second place this season. I am not just saying just us sox fans... fans from other message boards and sites that actually have some intelligent people on them... and you know the sites i am talking about. Sox are the first team to have a 15 game lead at one point and have it drop below 3 games. Wo0t! Someone is to blame... hell alot of people are to blame... but i am getting sick and tired of the '' if you knew on september 21st, 2005 that the white sox would have a 2.5 game lead in the division...''. Sox blow this lead and still get the wild card it is an embarrasment considering the commanding lead they had in the division and had for a long time. We have learned we cannot beat playoff caliber teams on a regular basis. So i don't see why we should be so excited about the next two games even if it does look like the matchups are in our favor. The indians are playing the same exact way we were in the first half when we looked like a playoff team... and they looked like s***... now the roles are completely reversed.
  15. Jason bay is a perfect 20-20 at stealing bases this year. One away from setting the record for most perfect in a season.
  16. QUOTE(POPPY_HIDALGO @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 02:05 AM) I've been checking out the site regularly. I just didn't want to add my thoughts cause I didn't want to be called a bandwagon jumper since everyone thinks I'm all anti-sox. I just figuered I'd give my thought son how I feel the season is going to end since predictions are my forte. Checking it while not logged in or you were anonymous i presume?
  17. Joe nossek should come out of retirement.
  18. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 11:42 PM) Mark Buehrle...CG Victory...BOOK IT
  19. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 11:48 PM) I'd prefer not to have a dips*** for a manager who puts in a reliever who essentially quit on the team into the game with the season on the line.... There is no way to explain why Jizz or Marte were ever used. Hell I would have left in Cotts. The guy has a .43 era since the all-star break. He's given up one run in that span. ONE! He can get out righties and lefties. He used to be a starter. Is it a sin to let him pitch to more than a batter or two? Only way he gets left in is if he is ambidextrous.
  20. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 11:41 PM) I'd like to know exactly how many other teams 15 games out in the history of the majors have gone 33-11 over 44 games, because that seems just absolutely superhuman. It's not like the Tribe were just treading water and the Sox lost 7 of every 10... I would also like to know how many teams held a 15+ plus game lead and had it dip under three at any point during the season... oh ya, that's right... the chicago f***ing white sox are the only one to do so.
  21. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 11:23 PM) You cannot seriously be blaming the Sox collapse on me. Then who's fault is it? Ozzie and the players? Ya right, give me a break.
  22. QUOTE(Harry&JimmyRocked @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 11:08 PM) you're wrong. you give a game away by making errors. you don't give a game away by getting outpitched and outhit. Dumbest thing i have ever heard while at soxtalk.
  23. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Sep 19, 2005 -> 11:15 PM) However you slice it, Oakland is choking way worse than the Sox in September. Who is choking worse in the last month and a half?
