QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 04:41 PM) It's less because of pinch-hitters. But does it matter? If the DH in the A.L. doesn't affect pitchers, why do most baseball analysts say that there is around a 1 run difference in pitchers' ERAs when going from the N.L. to the A.L.? It is not a full run different from the the n.l. to the a.l. It is more like half a run. Some pitchers more some pitchers less but it all equals out.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 03:45 PM) Scully is awesome, I love listening to "Dooooooodg-er Baseball" with Scully at the mic. MLB Extra Innings is awesome. Vin scully bores me?

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 01:25 PM) If he went 1 for 4 in every game, for all 162 games, he'd have a 162 game hitting streak and it would make him a .225 hitter overall, right? .250 i think you mean.

QUOTE(kane0730 @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 01:02 PM) The past couple of years I've bought their ticket promotion, which included 4 games at $1, and a bunch of coupons for buy 1 / get 1 free. Does anyone know if this promotion is going to happen this year?? They usually come by my house in may.

QUOTE(gotoh00 @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 03:06 AM) We wasn't that slick of a fielder but made his living sacrafice bunting. The only official "pinch bunter" in history. He could get a perfect bunt down even when the opposition knew it was coming. Hm, thinking of the wrong guy perhaps? Anyway didn't he stick around just to break the record?
-
QUOTE(gotoh00 @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 03:01 AM) Man...how long you been studying Japanese baseball? I was so looking forward to seeing a lot of guys guess aimlessly too. Yup, it's Japan's Ozzie Smith: Masahiro Kawai. Great guy too, is now in Cooperstown right next to Sugiyama Naoki, a backup catcher who was really good a making it look like he tagged a guy out as he was crossing homeplate. That was until he was arrested for slapping a girl with his boot in a bar. Jim albright mentioned it before i believe. He was supposedly one of the slickest fielding players in the history of japan and could bunt like no other ( except eddie collins who was just behind him i believe).

QUOTE(gotoh00 @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 02:54 AM) Not even close! :headshake Masahiro kawai.

QUOTE(TaylorStSox @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 01:09 AM) First post on the site. His control isnt the only thing that bothers me. He has no life on that breaking ball. It used to a nasty sweeper. I thought it was one of the best breaking balls in the AL. Now, it's not doing anything. He's a one pitch pitcher at this point and his fastball is very hittable when hitters can lay off the slurve. Welcome to soxtalk.

QUOTE(southsideirish @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 12:30 AM) Is there anyone there? Where is their report? They sound the same when you hear it said and when you say it? I would have to disagree with your assessment. I can see if you mean they're and their, but not there and their. No way. I know what i hear. Honestly though why is this here?
-
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 11:58 PM) That would be a great response if that is what I stated or if that was my question. I never questioned what the dictionary stated. I stated that it is pronounced and said differently. I have never heard anyone pronounce those two words the same way. I hear them both pronounced the same way 98.9% of the time.

This was actually known a couple weeks ago. They told star magazine but who really believes star magazine?

Nocioni suspended for a bullshit elbowing call.

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 09:48 PM) Theres no way to "clearly" know if he meant it or not. I'm just saying it looked intentional to me. Hopefully, it wasn't. I would prefer he not gain a reputation as a dirty player because I think he can develop into a solid player without having to be thought of as dirty. By the way, the person you quoted was saying it was intentional... He is a bulls fan yet always has a problem with everything the bulls do... good, bad or otherwise. Others were laughing at him for saying that. -

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 09:30 PM) No clue where that was from... Anyways, it's only a matter of time before "unintentional" shots become too much to be considered an accident. I respect playing hard, but I, personally, don't want to have a thug on my team. Noc can develop into a solid player without having to be a thug and play dirty. Frustrating lebron, for example, is acceptable...But as I said in the game thread, I didn't like how that elbow looked. It's not like he has a clean slate and this was hist first offense... I applaud stern and the league for making an aggressive decision. He's clearly head-above-shoulders when it comes to sports commisioners. From another board. If you look at it and slow it down he clearly did not mean it as has been said many times through out this thread. -
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 08:22 PM) Next year, I think. He may come over sooner though like ichiro did.
-
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 07:13 PM) Oh, yeah, speaking of rotations -- how about Buehrle/Garcia/Japanese-24-year-old-who-throws-the-gyro-ball/Mac/Hernandez? That's be nice... Daisuke matsuzaka.
-
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 07:04 PM) He wouldn't even be in our rotation. He would probably be on the DL... Joel Piñeiro Not what i am saying. I know he is on the dl. Fact is he has been a better pitcher thus far. Now will that hold up? I nor anyone else knows what will happen.
-
QUOTE(Tannerfan @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 06:55 PM) That's what I'm talkin' about. The only reason I started this topic was to point out that some pitchers get more credit than others, and I was trying to think of a way to rectify this point. I think Shingo is great, but his last two saves should be shared with Hermanson and Marte. Forget holds, nobody talks about those. Holds are talked about all the time. Maybe not here, but they are.
-
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 06:51 PM) No offense, but you're sounding like a Cub fan with this "when he's healthy" s***. Give me results over potential. If he was in our rotation who do you think would be higher garcia or pineiro? I know who i would put. Fact is through out pinero's career he has been a better pitcher than garcia. Now i am not saying i do not like garcia just saying who i would rather have.

QUOTE(DaBullzApr 12 @ 2005 -> 05:33PM) BTW, I watched the WMV file someone posted, and it was clear that Nocioni decked Prince. It was vicious, malicious, and intentional. He's lucky the Pistons already had a scrape this year, it is so close to the playoffs, and Detroit is humming along. Otherwise, it could have been a real ugly brawl. -
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 06:16 PM) OMG, this guys write ups are freaking hillarious. I'm gonna have to check out that thing on Ralf Garman. That is if thats the same Ralf Garman that does some stuff on the morning show out here. The guys is freaking hillarious. It is the same ralph garman as out there.
