QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 7, 2005 -> 02:42 AM) Anybody want Stevie Franchise seriously? Yes.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Mar 6, 2005 -> 11:28 PM) I don't think so. I don't really like Pods or the acquisition but I do know he'll steal a lot of bases if nothing else. WOuld Crawford win a poll? Maybe. I bet if you polled fantasy baseball players or stat guys that they'd pick Pods for more steals Nope. Crawford. http://www.rotochamps.com/mlb-5897-Carl-Crawford.html Podsednik. http://www.rotochamps.com/mlb-5703-Scott-Podsednik.html

Two positive things about todays loss

QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 6, 2005 -> 10:09 PM) You are 100% incorrect on this point. Deron is as pure of a PG as you will find. Exactly, he is a pass first point guard all the way. -

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Mar 6, 2005 -> 08:24 PM) One bad game didn't hurt Williams's stock that drastically. He's a near lock to be a lottery pick and he's going to go. NBA Draft One of the most reliable mock drafts out there, updated daily, they've had Williams a top 10 pick all season. Draft city updates daily too. -
Wite= teh sux0rs. Just though that needed to be said.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 6, 2005 -> 09:35 PM) Ouch, the critics were brutal... but I would rather hear from people that share some interests... Vaughn is one of the worst actors that keeps getting jobs. How does he keep getting them? This is what some more critics said. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/be_cool/

There was a thread with this a while back.

QUOTE(danman31 @ Mar 6, 2005 -> 04:12 PM) It begins...Skiles is wearing thin on his players Skiles is a pimp. He is old school and does not let his players tell him what is gonna happen. You play well you get playing time. If you are not you will be good friends with the bench.
-
QUOTE(danman31 @ Mar 6, 2005 -> 02:04 PM) I'm going to go the opposite of everyone else's opinion and say that I wouldn't even trade Curry for the number one pick. NO MORE ROOKIES. This team needs to grow together. Skiles refuses to play Curry and I hate him for it. Curry can't get better if he is rotting on the bench every 4th quarter. Skiles is a terrible player development coach and I'm calling for his ass to get fired if he doesn't give Curry more playing time. At this point the Bulls need to do whatever possible to keep Curry. If they don't he will be another Artest or Brad Miller and completely blossom elsewhere. Do you watch the bulls consistently? Curry only plays well in one quarter ( the first) and they plays like a piece of s*** the rest of the game 85% of the time. Defense is horrible and cannot rebound. Not exactly someone you want in down the stretch now is it?

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 6, 2005 -> 04:22 PM) i bet if this done on a regular ESPN board or a general board, crawford would be winning the poll or at least close to it. :banghead What is your point? I am gonna go with crawford.
-
QUOTE(soxman35 @ Mar 6, 2005 -> 06:40 PM) bucks are going to win because the bulls suck more then the bucks You should be slapped for saying that.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 6, 2005 -> 08:20 AM) There's a lot of areas in which the Sox may improve from having A.J on board this board and which they WILL improve. Frankly, I'm not too concerned about his offensive numbers, because I know they'll increase from him moving over to the Cell from SBC Park. IF he can handle this pitching staff very well, and the ERA from the games he catches are significantly lower than say from the games Ben Davis caught last year, well that's going to make a HELL of a difference. Anyone can have a better cera than davis. :puke

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Mar 6, 2005 -> 12:53 PM) Sure but Bonds is a PULL hitter. AJ slaps the ball to LF a lot. Also, good chance he is not on steroids.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Mar 6, 2005 -> 05:39 PM) We haven't seen much of Millwood. I think we know how that's worked out for us in the past Cannot hit rookies, lefties and pitchers we have never seen before.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Mar 4, 2005 -> 03:18 PM) No. The leadoff hitter is THE most important factor in a team's overall success. If you can have a guy that gets on at a .400 clip, you will have a very solid offense. If your leadoff hitters gets on at a .300 clip, your offense will not be nearly as good. You can look across the league, and some of the better offenses(or some of the more underrated offenses) have very solid leadoff hitters. The second most important factor in a team's overall success is the #2 hitter...if he can do the same as the leadoff hitter, you will have a lot of guys on base for the big hitters in the middle of the lineup. And that is one of the reasons I think, and many think, that Oakland will be way better then people give them credit for. They have a .400 OBP guy and a .370 OBP guy at the top of their order, so they will be getting on base like crazy, and when you have runners on base, you will score runs. Some have thought that they had one of the worst offseasons in the majors, and I am thinking the exact opposite. That's a little off subject, but it pertains to the point anyways. I will say however that when done properly, stealing bases, or just the general idea of stealing bases, will get in a pitcher's head and will hurt him down the road, while helping the offense. I think it is useful, but that it is not necessarily important. Whenever we talk about the a's for more than about four posts someone usually says they do not want to talk about them or care about them. Either way preach it.

QUOTE(MastaFisk @ Mar 4, 2005 -> 01:34 PM) I was one of the fans turning cartwheels. Though to be fair, it is hard to replace the greatest QB of all time. I just got sick of both Jay and Dave and were delighted to see them go. Oh.. and hello to everyone. First post here. Longtime Sox fan. Also love Bulls, Dolphins and UNC basketball. Cheers. Welcome to soxtalk.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 4, 2005 -> 12:51 PM) That's an impressive offense... They'd be good for maybe, maybe 600 runs a year. The pitching staff is rather impressive. Better than league average. They'd finish with a record near the 2003 detroit tigers. They'd lose more than 100, but I'm not sure they'd break the record. Where would you bat timo? I would definitely bat him 3rd or fourth becuase he is so ''impressive'' with men in scoring position.

In other words that no one could beat them.

QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Mar 4, 2005 -> 05:19 AM) What shocks me is that the cubs haven't shown interest in this guy. I mean as thin as their bullpen situation is you think they would be hungry for all the decent arms they could get. I think it sounds like it would be a great signing as long as he didn't get a deal any bigger then what that Kevin Walker got. They need immediate help not a ''project''.

QUOTE(shagar69 @ Mar 4, 2005 -> 02:55 AM) 12 teams. 16 teams are you serious? w/ 16 teams id have players like garlan I have seen over one hundred 12 team leagues and not once this year in a 12 team league have i seen palmeiro, benson, and linebrink taken.
-
I thought i remember reading iguchi was a good bunter, no? If that is the case don't fix what ain't broke.

QUOTE(KWs OK for Me @ Mar 4, 2005 -> 03:58 AM) Than there is no more money that they could possibly throw towards another starting pitcher. Especially one who will command around 10 mil. If I not mistaken, Garland is the only one who is signed only through this year. Does he hit FA after this year or still arbitration eligible? But I'm getting way to far ahead of myself. Go White Sox!! Haha, lets win a spring training game They have garland's rights for another year.
