QUOTE(Spiff @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 11:35 PM) Now go find something from your bible (aka rotoworld) to say otherwise. This made little sense to me when i first read it. Now that i read it again and looked at what rotoworld had to say about it i am confused even more.

Curry sucks.

Who does Ben Gordon remind you of?

QUOTE(rangercal @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 11:52 PM) Their is a lot more to players than numbers. scottie's numbers outside of ppg were comparable to MJ but MJ was more effective. MJ has leadership that is 5 levels ahead of pip. Not to rag on scottie, it just shows you how great MJ really was. MJ's Leadership was levels ahead of any player to play the game. So with that I don't think you can compare scottie too much to MJ. fwiw scottie was my fav player . You see the talent scottie had to work with when jordan first retired? You have to be a damn good leader to work with that. Also, if jordan did not have a player to cpmpliment him like pippen did he would have not be quite as good. He would have still be a legend but the best player of all time? I don't know about that. -
When i think or walker and marbury i consider them fake superstars. You almost always hear them considered ''superstars''. When i think of superstars i think of players that can go onto practically any team in the league and not have them be one of the worst teams in the nba. You telling me that the talent is not there for the knicks? Both walker and marbury need to take paycuts. All they both do is cry complain while making more money in one season than all of the people who have participated in this thread will make in our lifetimes. I have heard alot of people calling for ainge's head today. How do you trade for a player after you talk s*** about him and he does the same to you? As dbaho just showed his numbers are brutal.

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 11:36 PM) Is it that Blount sucks because he's not in a position to succeed? Because the general consensus is that he's a damn good on-the-ball interior defender who can give you some rebounding. I think that Al Jefferson should be getting between 20 and 25 minutes per game. That won't happen if Antoine plays some PF. He also has one of the higher field goal percentages in the last two years and can shoot free throws at an acceptable percentage. Too bad he isn't chucking up s***ty ass shots liek walker does all the time. Maybe he sucks because he is not averaging twenty a game while shooting .415 from the field and free throws at .534?

QUOTE(Spiff @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 11:35 PM) You may find this hard to believe, but this place isn't the be-all, end-all. Especially considering that 0 of the people here have seen Toine play 1/10 as much as I have. Now go find something from your bible (aka rotoworld) to say otherwise. Just saying it how it is. I am sorry if you do not like it.

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 11:30 PM) Marbury puts up mind-boggling numbers, but that doesn't mean he's a winner. Doesn't mean they are not cancers too.

QUOTE(Spiff @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 11:28 PM) 20-9-4 3 time all star the end Haha, whatever you want to believe. You can ask anyone on any board and they will tell you either tell you something similar to the quote hammer had or what i said.

QUOTE(Spiff @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 11:11 PM) There's so many things I could say, but I'll leave it at... I'll take career stats of 20-9-4 per game any day. Say what you have to say. No one is stopping you. Has anything ever been said about him that he is a good team player? Is he a good player to buil around? Is he a ball hog? Can he make free throws? His shooting percentage is what a point guard shoots at which means he has a bad shot selection. Does he play defense? He might as well stop taking threes unless if you like him making only 32% this year and 33% in his career rounding up. Does he play defense? Is he overpayed? All the answers to those questions are not positive ones i will tell you that.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 10:48 PM) I thought that Iguchi looked like Bret Boone in that video... He's definately not Ichiro! mms://a1594.v108691.c10869.g.vm.akamaistream.net/7/1594/10869/v0001/mlb.download.akamai.com/10869/2005/open/teams05/cha/video/021605_iguchi_email_350.wmv Nice to see he knows how to hit the ball the other way. Half of them he hit the other way though didn't look like they were on purpose.

QUOTE(Spiff @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 10:20 PM) "Boston - Doc Rivers, your locker room bickering just up about 95%. Ricky Davis can't be happy about this. Tell me this, how are they going to find shots for players not named Paul Pierce or Antoine Walker. Jim O'Brien almost made it work, but quit trying. Unless they can get Gary Payton back (he could be headed to Minny or Seattle), the Celtics are going to get owned at the PG position in the playoffs. Rivers is a great motivator, but I don't think he's a good enough X's and O's coach to make this work." Someone tell this dumbass that Jiri Welsch also got traded, and Ricky was coming off of the bench to begin with. Also, I'm glad Antoine's back, and if it's only short-term that's OK too because his contract (14.6 mill) expires after this year. This isn't a year that Boston is going to make a run at a title anyway. If Payton doesn't re-sign, then Banks and West get to show what they can do. I'm not a huge fan of Ainge, but this could turn out a lot better than people think. I didn't know it was possible for anyone to like walker.

QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 11:05 AM) Well Willie did enough (or not enough) last year to make the fans have the attitude of wanting a change. He didn't get the job done last year, I'm excited KW is trying to improve the team... He did more than enough on the field to have another shot at full time second second baseman. How he played on the field last year does not seem to be the reason we got iguchi, at least not 100%. Garland seems to be a prick too and we are not getting rid of him. He blamed konerko(?) i believe for a loss. You just do not do that. He doesn't do interviews very well and always looks high. I remember someone asked him if he needed to improve on his numbers the season before ( last spring training) and he said something to the effect if i just keep doing what i am doing i should be fine. I really do not want to hear that from anyone especially when there is room to improve.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 03:17 PM) He's supposidly retired. Yet he was last active yesterday at 2:44. We'll see how long he can stay away. So far Minny and MOS are both supposedly gone for extended periods of time but we'll see. ;-) is a winking smiley.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 06:26 PM) He looks too dark to be Wilson. Maybe it's Enemencio Pacheco? Vizcaino? Compare both pictures. Looks similar to me.

Spurs=2005 champions? I think so. They just got that much deeper.

QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 06:48 PM) I wish the Bulls would do something constructive trade-wise to compete. They have a great shot to do damage in the playoffs this year. Trade for a few quality guys with decent sized contracts in a deal that involves moving Antonio Davis' contract...or something. Boozer, Giricek and Utah's #1 for Davis and Curry. Dead line is over i believe. That offer you proposed the jazz would laugh at. Hard. Anyways, the knicks did something right. They have three drafts picks next year. Even though they will most likely just cut them all.

QUOTE(Butter Parque @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 01:06 PM) It so great to be a Duke fan because everyone hates you until Duke beats their favorite team and then those fans crawl into their little holes for awhile. The fact is; is that you would choose JJ Redick over anyone on North Carolina, but you would never admit that. You keep talking about Rashad McCants, but wasn't it JJ Redick who had him locked up for those last seconds, preventing him from getting the ball. it's plain and simple; JJ Redick is a better player then anyone on North Carolina. I guess North Carolina fans and Duke fans will never agree on anything, and Illinois fans, well, they're enjoying their winning while it lasts. I guess everyone in the world is stupid outside of duke fans right? Who is projected to go higher in the upcoming drafts? How biased can you get, honestly? Marvin williams, rashad mccants, raymond felton, jawad williams and even sean may are projected to go higher in the nba draft in either 2005 or 2006 than reddick is. If you do not believe me there are several sites that prove me right. Look at this one comparison to your boy. Lmfao. Bottom line you are wrong but will never admit to it. -
QUOTE(Hall of Famer @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 05:29 PM) Boston just seemed to make one of those desperation deals after seeing what the sixers did last night. Difference is payton helps teams walker does not.
-
Rumor has it the hawks will cut payton and he will resign with the celtics.
-
Wow. C - dampier/bradley. PF - dirk/van horn. SF - josh Howard/stackhouse. SG - finley/stackhouse. PG - terry/harris.
-
QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 03:47 PM) Yeah, I remember that. Also, unless I'm missing something, this is going to put a lot of pressure on Delonte West and Marcus Banks. Payton was a good stop-gap. I dunno if Marcus Banks is much of a point guard. He could play a little defense, but that's about it. Can you imagine how pissed payton has to be right now? He didn't want to play with the celtics becasue he thought they were gonna suck. Now he is truly on a s***ty ass team.
-
QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 03:34 PM) That's actually a major insult to Kenny Williams, seeing as how Danny Ainge is borderline retarded. You can't win with Antoine Walker. This makes the Celtics a better team in the short term, but that franchise should be thinking strictly long term at this point. You're gonna hear all of the old cliches. The East is weak right now, anything can happen, etc. Yeah, I know. :rolly Um, didn't ainge just talk s*** about walker a year or two ago? Right after he traded him away.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 03:22 PM) I really like the 76er's and what they've done the pase two days. Picking up a low post player that was desperately needed in Chris Webber, Picked up Jamal Mashburn solid and addition by subtraction by dumping Big Dog. Mashburn= dead. Rogers is the key player in that deal. If mashburn was healthy they would never do this. He is easily top three small foward in the nba.
