Who does Ben Gordon remind you of?
qwerty replied to rangercal's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(YASNY @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 06:15 AM) Here's what Steve Kerr thinks about Gordon. Only thing really different with the two is toney didn't shoot many threes. He attempted less than one per game. Otherwise it is a very good comparison. -

QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 06:28 AM) The Bulls had Mihm. They drafted him and traded him to Cleveland for Jamal Crawford. Gordon does have quite a few Jordan skills. The game winning shots, the fall away jumpers, the streak shooting behind the 3 point line. But, I would say that his game has quite a few similarities to Scottie Pippen's. Streak shooting from the three? Gordon>>> jordan when it comes to shooting the three. I don't think many people realize how bad of a three point shooter he was. What similarities does gordan have to pippen? Because basically whatever he would have n common with pippen he would have in common with jordan. Pippen and jordan are almost identical players outside of points per game. But that was not his role most of his career, when it was he stepped up. -
QUOTE(backman @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 01:11 PM) didnt know if anyone saw this but sixers added rogers and mashburn from neworleans for glen robinson. full story:http://www.nba.com/sixers/news/rogers_mashburn_050224.html I knew that that would not be the final deal. The contracts were not working out. Makes this a little less good of a trade for the 76'ers. They did get rid of one of the biggest cancers in all of sports. But they also got a cripple back that will most like never play again. Rogers is not a bad throw in though. Damn the 76'ers are looking good now.

QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 11:54 AM) Gotta agree here, IMO Bonds used Riods for about 4 years..but noone can question that he has by far the best Eye in the game right now. One the ball is five feet off the plate every pitch i could walk over 200 times too.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2004 @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 02:53 AM) If not Cotts, who would you rather see in his place? I'm assuming you'll say Adkins, but don't you want atleast two left handers in the pen? Why does it matter if we have to lefties in the pen? Lefties had a .269 average against cotts and .163 off of vizcaino. When it comes to getting lefties out vizcaino>cotts, probally >>.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 01:58 AM) What about the Jimmy Jackson situation from about a month ago when he wouldn't play for the Hornets? What about it? He doesn't have to play if he doesn't feel like earning money.

What f*** heads. They keep foyle over jamison, huges, arenas, and then they sign foyle to possibly the worst contract this off-season.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 11:42 PM) What's the rule that says he can't be traded? You cannot be traded within two months time. I found this though.
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 12:40 AM) Well they might as well play Dickau and see if he can be the starting point guard long - term, so they don't have to draft one if they have the #1 pick at the draft, and focus on either Williams or Bogut. I've got a feeling Biedinis will be involved as well, or maybe even Mickael Pietrus, or maybe some future firsts? Makes no sense for the warriors either. They have the point guard position filled pretty well, why get another? How about getting an actual center.

Awful deal for a team that is in a ''youth movement''. Well, like i said earlier. My boy j.r. smith will be the face of the hornets franchise.
-
Well this makes no sense. Bradley should not be able to be packaged in another trade but petrie ( kings gm, has annouced the deal during a press conference. I am very, very confused at the moment.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 11:18 PM) Other then him they are in fantastic shape. I wouldn't hold it past them since they will have some caproom, to make a rather big move this offseason using some of there free payroll and AD to create room to get one max type player and then signing Curry/Chandler long term and basically the Bulls roster will be set. They may wait one more year to do something along those lines though. Regardless nothing goes down until the new cba. At the most they will sign a mle type player. Jaric is what i am hoping for honestly. He is a big guard who can pass and post up. He is another hinrich shooting the ball but a big guard would look real nice for the bulls next year. Another guy i would love to have is raja bell if the jazz do not re sign him. Which i have a feeling they will. 2006 will be the bulls spending spree which is nice since there are somedamn good free agents out there then. 2006 free agents.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 11:11 PM) Ya, I was just looking and they aren't getting ending contracts in return. This is a pretty bad deal. This is kind of like when the Bulls got AD, and JYD two ugly contracts in my books (mainly JYD's which was god awful). The Kings better be able to package some of there contracts elsewhere. This is what a guy on bbb said. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ While jyd's contract is a s*** load longer, davis's salary hurt us this year and all of next year. I think they both blow evenly.

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 11:08 PM) And it's like you said...Skiles puts guys in spots where they can succeed. In Chandler's case, Skiles is very conservative based on his injury history. Which is silly in my opinion. Chandler never had any serious health problems before his back injury and at the start of the year chandler said his back feels stronger than it ever has. I know they want to be cautious with him but there is no reason that he cannot steal three to five more minutes combined from harrington ( who i like alot) and davis who i despise, he is so damn over payed).
-
Honestly, how horrible is this for the kings. Thomas and williamson have contracts through about 2030. Also, bradley was in the christie trade, it will need to be some other s***ty player.
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 10:58 PM) I'm guessing Kings are better salary wise or something in the long run? However, I also think the big thing is the Kings get some toughness in Kenny Thomas and maybe create more shots for there other guys. I think Webber was sick of Sac and it may be a good thing for them to be rid of him, but its definately the Sixers gain. Well the kings will be saving about five to six million per year for about the next three years. The kings got stuck with three prety nasty contracts for the amount of talent they got back. Look for peja to asplode. Like the type of numbers he put up last year.

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 10:52 PM) Starting Squad: PG: Allen Iverson SG: Aaron McKie SF: Andre Iguodala PF: Chris Webber C: Samuel Dalembert I'm intrigued. But then again, I've been intrigued all along by the 2004/2005 76ers. I've been waiting for some results. This should put them over the top as far as their division is concerned. I hope people do not laugh when i say they are now capable of making the finals. At the very least pretty far in the playoffs. This is what they have been dying to get. An inside scorer and they got one of the best in the business. The 76's apparently are serious about getting iverson a ring.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 10:46 PM) Well he is amongst the league worse in terms of turnovers, imo. Gordon has great dribbling ability when it comes to breaking a guys ankles and blowing past him, but he's got a lot to learn about passing and protecting the basketball. I'm with spiffaroo on this one. On a sidenote, a guy I'd love to see on the Bulls is Chris Mihm. Good god am I becoming a big time Mihm fan. When he does not feel like it is his job to just foul everyone in sight he is a fine player. Not a player i would start though. Ideally he would be the best coming off the bench acting as the back up point guard/center. -
QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 10:37 PM) Well all I can say is go get em. I hope Cotts makes the team. I don't. He needs a full season of triple a to work on some things. I would rather have him help us down the road as a starter than putting up decent numbers at the very best in the bullpen. We already have what i consider our left handed specialist ( vizcaino) what is the point in having a lefty that will not help us?

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 10:36 PM) Well good luck finding an EXACT match... I just made the BEST match I could think of off the top of my head... You do realize no 2 players are exactly alike? ANY attempt at comparing two players can quickly be argued because each player has his own strong points, deficiencies, and quircks... I honestly haven't seen anyone make a BETTER match than mine, including those who are quick to judge mine... Mine was. Michael finley. While he may be several inches taller he is a bad post up player and matches gordon in every single aspect of the game. -
QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 10:29 PM) Clearly the MVP...LOL... You must have a warped sense of what an MVP is.. If you take away Kirk (especially), Ben, or Deng, this isn't the same team. To say that scoring is taken care of because of those guys goes against your point. That ALLOWS Tyson to concentrate on defense. It would actually be nice if he did have some sort of offense. Take away Tyson and Davis and Othella get some more minutes... An MVP that comes off the bench and doesn't put up the offensive numbers his talent should allow him to...good one... Well let's see here. Both detriot and chicago are both in my opinion top five defensively and bottom five offensively. They have bden wallace ala tyson chandler and they get away with having him score under ten points per game. Almost all of his makes are put backs. Wow, those are some damn good offensie moves if you ask me. Put it this way. If jared reiner was in chandler's place you would see the bulls five to ten games below five hundred at the very least. Name five guys in the nba who intimidate the oppsing team more than tyson chandler. Please do.
