  1. Baseball prospectus always has their stat of the day and he manages to get on there once a week for something... which of course is not good. Amuses me.
  2. Guess some don't realize the talent that is on this team. The bulls are easily one of the deepest teams in the league, and i also agree we need a superstar type player ( believe we have one in the making in deng). Actually i don't think he will ever be a super star but a type 20 player int he leaguye is not out of reach for a player of his caliber. If you guys do not feel they can win a championship by the 2008-2009 when do you? Five years... ten... twenty? This team has to play it's cards right like i said, otherwise we will continue to be a 6th-8th seed.
  3. QUOTE(Tmar28 @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 07:58 PM) greg oden? I thought he said this upcoming draft... and we will likely have no chance at him. The shaq comparison is not really thrown around for him. Mostly david robinson or tim duncan.
  4. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 07:56 PM) Which is why I believe a lottery pick is beneficial to this team. Someone may criticize me for lack of fan devotion, but does entering the playoffs as a 7th/8th seed after previously being a 4 strike anyone as progress? Knicks will likely provide one good pick, and if we have another we'll have two routes: package the two picks, whichever other player besides Gordon and Deng for a legitimate big man. Or, depending on the strenght of the draft, find your big men from college. I can't even begin to debate which players are available, since I don't watch much college basketball. But if what I heard is correct, the new rule of enrolling in college for a year has dramatically altered this particular draft. That route may not be very appealing. If i am reading this right you are saying deng and gordon are the ones you do not want traded? Gordon won't be around for two more years imo. He just doesn't gel with the rest of the team and of course skiles.
  5. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 07:42 PM) Three seasons? The way I figure, for such an event to occur we'd need two good draft picks this season--perhaps to trade for a superstar caliber player. Then next season, hope either the Knicks or us absolutely tank and miraculously draw the first lottery pick. We'd have an opportunity to draft the athletic, 7'1 center (forget his name) whose been drawing comparisons to Shaq. Eastern Conference is weak, but for us to suddenly pull together a championship team we'll need atleast ONE poor season. The more years this team is together the better ( the core that is). Deng is gonna turn into a special player. You have to figure chandler will stop being the pussy that he is. Hinrich will be the point guard for another four five years. Nocioni could start on many teams is that is always a plus off the bench. This core is the same from last season and no one is gonna tell me eddy curry is/was and will ever be that vital of a piece to a team. The bulls clearly lost the desire to play tenacious defense like last season. I also really like the bench in songo slime... harrington... sweetney ( anyone of them starting here and there for us). Duhon is clearly a nice pg too contrary to what some may thing. I also have no clue who this 7'1 center who is drawing comparisions to shaw is. I know it's not aldridge or bargani... hell there isn't any one seven feet or taller going in the first round.
  6. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 12:39 PM) The Lakers have to fall soon, I just dont see Kobe hitting his shots and carrying the team all season, teams have to double team him and make him pass the ball like u said, to improve other players, however I really think they make the playoffs. Now the Bulls on the other hand. :rolly Who has the much better future ahead of them? I rather be a bulls fan than a lakers fan at this point. All the bulls have to do is play their cards right and get a little lucky. Then i truly believe we will see a championship by the bulls within three full seasons from now.
  7. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 08:44 AM) Agreed. But most young fans are ignorant to previous eras. It's really sad. I think Qwerty even said Wilt wasn't that good because he dominated white midgets? lol. I could pull up a pretty impressive list of centers Wilt destroyed in his day. Imagine what Wilt would do if he got to go up against the centers of today. Impressive list? Go ahead and accumulate one. Out of the center position there was very little talent to be head. It was mostly out of the power forward position and the average weight for then was 215-225. Moderan day basketball many shooting guards weight 215+ and they was not the case back then. The games are really no comparable. The players are in 10 times better shape do to medical reasons for and work out machines. In wilt chamberlians first year in the league the biggest man he was against was walter dukes... he was the only other 7 footer in 1960 and he weighed in at 220. The great walter dukes. Even until even the late sixties, the start of his decline, he was bigger than most everyone... freak of nature if you will. Also, if chamberlain got to play today i feel he would be in the top echelon. I know every single thing he has done in his career and it was a very good career. But to me that is like when espn was comparing usc to teams in the 1950's.

QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 12:51 AM) I was pissed drunk the other night watching him in Zatoichi. I turned it off. Damn good movie. I cannot wait for coin locker babies... and when he starts gradually getting into more americanized movies. He speaks pretty good english do the transformations shouldn't be very hard for someone of his caliber to make.

  10. QUOTE(Tadahito Iguchi @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 12:44 AM) I know theres an NBA discussion thread but screw that 81 points!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is Kobe better than Michael Jordan? I think he might be hes won 3 championships already...................And I wouldnt be surpried if he finishes with 5 more............ Kobe in the closet thing we have seen yet and it is really not that close.
  11. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 12:40 AM) I saw the whole game, and they were NOT tripling him in the 4th quarter. Even the Lakers announcers were saying how the heck are they allowing Kobe to do this to them. They were up 17 with 6 minutes and 13 seconds to go. The Raptors had emptied out their 2nd stringers without about 4 minutes to go. The game was no doubt over. I never saw that game, obviously. I'm sure Wilt did pad his stats. Doesn't mean it's right. He had two men on him the entire fourth quarter. I am not saying two guys were directly on him but there was always a help defender very close. A help defender can sure as hell add alot of pressure and cause mistakes and he avoided it tonight.
  12. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 12:29 AM) Thank you qwerty. I figure you were actually watching the game as well cause anyone that hates on him for that performance is either deaf, dumb or blind (possibly all 3). And I agree with you. It would have been like Shaq going up against a team full of Luke Waltons or Kirk Hinrich's. Its just a totally new era and that was the greatest performance I've ever seen out of an NBA player (now I've seen more clutch performances in bigger games, but tonights game was just insane). In the 3rd quarter when he went on his initial explosion my dad and I just kept looking back at each other (after all his shots) just in total disbelief. This continues and (even as much as I hate Kobe) I was going nuts as he kept scoring and finding a way despite double and triple teams. He's so explosive to the basket and is great at finishing. Plus he can hit pretty much any jumper he takes and has really improved his 3 point shot. To be honest i do not even hate kobe bryant. For one i do not believe any of the rape allegations... didn't from day one. I have always believed she was out to make the money. I mean everyone has seen her right? He has his wife at home and he rapes someone that is plain looking for no apparent reason? I don't believe they had an arguement or anything of that sort. Do i hate kobe for wanting to be the leader of his own team? Being in the shadow of the most dominant player to ever play basketball for another 5-6 years and by the time shaq is gone he is already likely on a severe decline? I can understand his reasons and even more so because he was younger and not already 33. Young players take time to mature ( allen iverson perfect example) no matter what profession or setting they are in ( almost all the time anyway). He might be some what of a douche and come off cocky, arrogant... etc... but if he ever gets traded to the bulls i will greet him with open arms.
  13. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 12:17 AM) Dude they were freaking triple teaming him in the 4th quarter. The rest of his team is inept. Kobe scored like 27 points in the 3rd quarter and I think the rest of his team had like 4 or 6. They are f***ing terrible. As far as him staying in, the game wasn't a blowout with 7 minutes left. They started blowing them out but it wasn't a done deal. Once they were up why not let him go for the record. You don't think that stuff happened in Wilt's magic game. Come on. I personally consider this the record for points in a game. Wilt chamberlain was against 6'4 ( on a tall day) unathletic white guys. There is a reason he averaged 50.4 points a game in a season and that is not because he was the best or most gifted player... he was very much so int he right place at the right time. Kobe bryant was ridiculous today and anyone who thinks/says otherwise is foolish and just a pure hater. Most players wouldn't have gotten off the shots he did in the late third quarter and fourth quarter. He is something to watch.
  14. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jan 19, 2006 -> 03:52 PM) Grieve is pretty brutal defensively, but it appears his once promising career has transformed into being a career pinch hitter. The fact that he can hit it into the seats is nice. I still think Borchard is better than him at this point though. Grieve is definitely passible for a bench player defensively. Offensively i do not think they are really that close at the major league level. Borchard looks nothing but lost up there ( outside of when he runs into one here and there). There is only a two year difference and grieve has done ten times more than borchard ever has.
  15. I really like the ben grieve sign/invite. If he hits .250 he off the bench he will be more valuable than timo ever was. Hell if he hits .220 he will be more valuable than timo ever was. He is a really nice obp guy and plays fine enough defense that no one should complain about it.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jan 17, 2006 -> 09:03 PM) Saw Match Point the other night. I enjoyed it but I don't think it's for everyone. Wonderful locales (mostly in London and the countryside), great music (Opera), beautiful people and just enough suspense to keep you interested throughout. Some people may think there's not enough going on or that the plot isn't all that groundbreaking but overall it was entertaining IMO. The more movies with scarlett johannson the better. Woody allen is gonna be making two more films with her ( third is still being talked about) all in london.
  18. QUOTE(Yoda @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 10:09 AM) Yeah, okay. Way of the Dragon says it all. Chuck norris = dead.
  19. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 17, 2006 -> 02:51 AM) They're both real life pussy's so they should definitely not qualify for this list. Segal is a fat ass yes. Pussy? Probally not. He is a very respected aikido master. Van damme is a former european professional karate association middleweight champion. Van damme... very, very good martial artist to go along with... And of course... he was a former sparring partner of chuck norris in the early 1980's. I have seen so many people say jet li and bruce lee, arguably the greatest martial artist to ever live are pussy/ would get killed by the moderen day ucf guys. Bruce lee didn't compete in tournaments because they were afraid he would kill people on accident. Bruce lee never beat anybody becauseof fact that he was banned from the martial arts tournaments because of his conflicting style of fighting. I don't care that he was 5'5...135 he would still be able to take randy couture or chuck liddell and anyone that thinks otherwise knows very little about him imo.

  21. QUOTE(The Critic @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 02:54 PM) IN RESPONSE TO THE "RANDOM FACTS" THAT ARE BEING GENERATED ON THE INTERNET I'm aware of the made up declarations about me that have recently begun to appear on the Internet and in emails as "Chuck Norris facts." I've seen some of them. Some are funny. Some are pretty far out. Being more a student of the Wild West than the wild world of the Internet, I'm not quite sure what to make of it. It's quite surprising. I do know that boys will be boys, and I neither take offense nor take these things too seriously. Who knows, maybe these made up one-liners will prompt young people to seek out the real facts as found in my recent autobiographical book, "Against All Odds?" They may even be interested enough to check out my novels set in the Old West, "The Justice Riders," released this month. I'm very proud of these literary efforts. ~ Chuck Norris If Chuck Norris wrote this ( as opposed to a press person writing it for him ), then he loses all but 2 of his Tough Guy Points and should roundhouse-kick himself in the head repeatedly as penance. He has found god not so long ago so... ...
