  1. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 03:07 PM) Yeah, although it would be strange to put a guy who just turned 23 on a list like that considering that he's a good 3 or 4 years away from his prime. A list like that is a good idea, though. It would have to be a guy who is in his prime or past his prime, IMO. I'd probably start with Lorenzen Wright, who actually seemed to care last year. Lorezen wright has a nice as shot in nba 2005... 2006 sucks balls though. Memphis is usually my team when we have tournaments and they are loaded with defenders, height, and trey ballers... i loved that 2004-2005 team.
  2. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 03:03 PM) Yep, I was impressed with Mike James when he was on the Pistons. Good defender, good ball-handling skills, excellent quickness, etc. I dunno why the Rockets would swap him for Rafer Alston. The rockets wanted to get a faster... most athletic team ( drafted luther head). Alston is just about as fast as they come and plays good defense... and he use to bring up the lack of defense being played in toronto ( bet he is laughing after the kobe game). Alston is a fine point guard but is pretty vocal.
  3. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 03:01 PM) I chose Boris Diaw. The guy has been amazing, and he pretty much came out of nowhere. All that I knew about him before was that he had a lot of defensive upside. I never figured that he'd be flirting with triple doubles on a regular basis. I always wished the bulls traded for him. He was one of those players you just knew where on the cusp of breaking out in a big way. The bulls were rumored to get him many times since he has been in the league. Oooh what could have been...
  4. Diaw or david west. James numbers jumped alot but anyone's would going to a team like the raptors... he has always been a good point guard before this season anyway... but he is showing he is capable of more than backing up.
  5. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 12:01 PM) I'd rather see RonDL than Matt Lecroy. Only time i do not want to see lecroy is when we have a lefty pitching. His three year splits are .252./ .314//.396/.710 against righties. In those last three years white is .105 points better in ops against righties and a .302 hitter against lefties. Rather face lecroy over white any day of the week against a right hander. He should just be signed to platoon.
  6. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 11:50 AM) Alright, enoughs enough. I'm sticking up for Artest. The Pacers screwed him over in this. No one communicates with him, no one tells him (or his agent, who he's told is handling everything) about this move. They don't approach him and they don't communicate they just do it all behind his back. Plus the whole freaking reason Artest demanded a trade was because they went around his back and were trying to deal him to Sacremento earlier in the season. He didn't want to go there so he figured he could demand a trade and than find a way to get to a team he wants. Sure he's a crazy SOB, but I see nothing wrong with him trying to make sure he goes to a place he wants to play. The Pacers have the responsibility to talk to Ron's agent and he should be involved in this. They do that and he's probably already in Sacremento. They screwed the pooch and I'm sick of everyone slamming Artest. He's done a lot of stupid s***, but this wasn't his fault. So you truly believe every player should be told when and who they are being traded to? Back before owners were pussies and gave in to what a player had to say none of this would happen. He should realistically have no say in what team he plays for until he is a free agent. Even then he would come up with something 3 months into the season '' someone twisted my arm''. The pacers do not have to involve him in s*** and he should have been suspended without pay for every game he missed. I wish owners and gms grew some testicles.
  7. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 01:28 AM) Never compare podsednik to h0tn3tt again please.
  8. This... QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 24, 2006 -> 02:11 PM) I'll always remember his bling bling incident. But there was a time where he was one of the best, if not the best, lefty reliever in the game. Is no reason to say this. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jan 24, 2006 -> 02:11 PM) Mota is a BIG downgrade from Rhodes. Marte won't play. Mota was one of the top set-up men in 2003 and 2004 and had good peripherials in 2002. There isn't a question in my mind who has the better stuff and i am pretty sure most people would take him over rhodes 9-10. The only real advantage rhodes has over mota is that he is left handed.
  9. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jan 24, 2006 -> 10:49 PM) Damn, all Philly is asking for fer Michaels is Arthur Rhodes? That's one helluva deal for Cleveland if they're able to pull in Michaels + Marte while only giving up Coco and Rhodes... As a baseball fan, I'd like to see what Michaels can do in a full season of ABs, not just as a role player. I honestly think in a full season he would put up numbers right around what crisp does offensively. Defensively there would be a decline... but it is not massive enough that it should really hurt them... especially if arthur rhodes is all it takes. I think because michaels has never had a full season he is pretty underated around here.
  10. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jan 24, 2006 -> 08:03 PM) The Lakers won't trade Odom as part of a deal for Artest. If Artest comes in and f***s around they are screwed and have no other players besides Kobe. He's either bound for LA or Golden State IMO. Golden State I think would package Pietrus and Dunleavy in a deal for Artest. I'm not sure who the Lakers would give, but I just can't see Odom being involved unless the Lakers were getting other players besides Artest back in return. So the pacers who want an expiring contract would trade for dunleavy and his albatross contract? I seriously doubt anything like that would happen. I still doubt anything with maggette ever happens. The clippers for one do not really need him and for two he is sane. Makes no sense why they would take that risk... well they are the clippers afterall.
  11. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jan 24, 2006 -> 10:43 PM) You're so cruel. What if I posted a picture of your pasty white ass on the board and had everyone laugh at you? Then how would you feel? I am not dougly or you know who... got us confused
  12. QUOTE(Felix @ Jan 24, 2006 -> 10:03 PM) Yea, and I can't help but laugh at him, even if its wrong. It's funny as hell. Look at him feeling sorry for himself.
  13. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Jan 24, 2006 -> 06:54 PM) I don't remember is it was Circuit City or Best Buy but I remember it being because he wanted the discount on electronics. No one can get there story straight. Google ron artest best buy...and ron artest circuit city... there will be lots that pop up.
  14. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Jan 24, 2006 -> 06:13 PM) At first, I thought you had changed your name on here to guey... Is it really that are to understand what it says...?
  15. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Jan 24, 2006 -> 05:58 PM) Only problem I have with that is that nobody can consistently hit a damn jump shot. Defense and team bal isn't the only problem... Str33tball r4\/\/k$!1!1!
  16. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 09:31 PM) Poor Timo. He's gone and he's still soxtalk's whipping boy. He can go sulk over it with ben davis... they have a combined two million from last year in stolen money that may help them get over it.
  17. QUOTE(Wanne @ Jan 24, 2006 -> 01:52 AM) What the hell's a VORP...is it like a VERP? http://www.stathead.com/articles/woolner/vorp.htm
  18. Someone should shove one of his rap albums down his throat.
  19. Realistically, you could name 7-10 top tier big men over any given decade... let alone two decades. I never dismissed what wilt chamberlain did in his time period against the competition that was around then. I am sorry but he would never have scored 50+ with 25+ rebounds within the last 20 years... in any given year. Especially wouldn't have happened in the 1980's up until the mid 1990's. They simply would not have allowed it. Sure he would have still been the same prolific shot blocker ( some say he avearged 5-6 a game)... but his overall game would have not be nearly the same. Even if he had everything that available to him now that moderan day players it is silly to expect him to put up anything like he did early on in his career. A drop off is expected like the numbers you gave. Also the problem with the nba isn't the talent level. Mostly it is the commitment to defense and team basketball. Most of the players are currently just looking for the big pay check... and we all know offense =$$$. Therefore the lack of defense. The perimeter defense is just unbearable to watch most nights...unless you get lucky with a good matchup.
  20. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jan 24, 2006 -> 05:27 PM) This is why when I was going to post this news, I decided against it and just put my thoughts in the NBA thread. He didn't necessarily stop this trade technically. He was telling people he wasn't going to be happy going to Sac, but he would still report. Sacramento then decided just not to do it afterwards. Want to know when this stops? When Artest gets traded to NY. Only way you don't hear from him. So in other words... he stopped the trade.
  21. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 24, 2006 -> 02:10 AM) Unless the Bulls actually get a legiminate center, I don't know if they can be a top 4 team in the East. I'd still rate Miami, Detroit, whoever wins the Atlantic and Indiana ahead of them. Thanks for stating the obvious.
  22. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 10:30 PM) Deng and Kirk are the only talent, and neither will ever be a superstar. Role players like songaila and othella are going to be past 30 in 3 years. And you most certainly have to factor other young teams around the league improving as well, both through gaining experience and free agency. A lot of things have to go right for the Bulls to be a championship-caliber team within the next 5 years, and saying they can just aquire a superstar is much easier said than done. In 3 years I still see this team as no better than a 4 seed in the East, but I hope they can prove me wrong. As of now, I personally don't like the make-up of the team. It's going to essentially be the 3rd rebuilding process now, and the past few years have shown that there are no guarantees that this organization is the type that is going to make all the right moves. KTHXBYETTYL.
  23. QUOTE(Felix @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 10:09 PM) Since when it is against the rules for stating your opinion on something the entire class is discussing? Rather strange that they could suspend you for that. I was suspended for various other things that made no sense. We got sick of arguing with them and i eventually dropped out and got my ged. I mean freshman year i was on the bus and decided i would rather go to a friends house and the bus route did not go his way. So for some reason some b**** dean was outside the bus and she saw me getting off and she asked where i was going... i tell her and she freaks out. She sayed it is against the rules. So she gives me two options... get back on the bus or walk to his house and come into school on monday with my parents ( was a friday). So of course i go to his house because i know it wasn't a rule that the school had. We still had a copy of the waiver you sign for the bus and we looked through the school manual and nothing was it. We brought both to school and might with the head dean and the one who b****ed at me... show them there was nothing stating it... they knew they had nothing so they came up with '' you were defiant'' and need to be punished. Another two days suspended and zeros...
  24. In 2003 we were discussing the cubs. Was the day after the bartman s*** went down. I was bashing the cubs and the teacher started crying ( literally) and she started yalking s*** about '' well where are the sox now''. Eventually she kicked me out and sent me to the office. I thought it was amusing but apparently no one else did. I ended up getting suspended ( which was bulls***) for two days... for harrasing a teacher. Then she wanted me transferred from her class. Reavis did everything they could to get me out of that pos...which they eventually did.
