  1. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 05:07 PM) They also have a track record as the best in the business at pitcher health. Past results . . . Crain is a 60 inning guy who was worked too hard. Why was he worked so hard when the only important thing was him remaining healthy. If they end up getting nothing for him it is because of incompetence on this organization's part.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 03:42 PM) Throwing 78 pitches in a span of 4 days, including 59 on consecutive days, probably didn't help. Ventura, Coop, and Hahn should all be called on the carpet for this, but they won't be because we have the softest media coverage in pro sports.
  3. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 01:55 PM) Marty needs to be suspended immediately for that comment. Unless he was being facetious, then I apologize. That's straight up trolling people. What are you talking about? It absolutely is a failure of this organization that Crain is DL'ed. The workload they put on him for no reason was what caused this.
  4. How do you lose one of your most valuable trading chips like this? Maddening. Typical of this organization.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 07:51 PM) Bootleg stats? Dude you sound like Hawk now Thats what they are. Statistical analysis has it's place, but just like TWTW it's largely a gimmick.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 07:44 PM) Like when you spent a month telling us that Keppinger would never start hitting before he started hitting? Exactly. Do we really want to get in to the stuff you said that was wrong? You and your bootleg stats.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 07:39 PM) As usual, someone actually used a stat to say why tey think he's an asset, and that point gets ignored. As usual you put too much stock in some kind of bootleg stat (i.e. BABIP!) and ignore what you're seeing with your eyes.
  8. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 07:31 PM) I'd have to think about it. Probably not. His xFIP is 3.8, which is pretty much where he's been his entire career. If someone is claiming him now, they'll probably claim him a year from now too. Even in the worst case, I don't see him getting worse. I'll hold on to him. We're not hurting for money right now anyway. Selling off assets at minimal value seems silly for us at this point anyway. I wouldn't consider Danks an asset.
  9. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 07:23 PM) A little early to be giving up on Danks. I think we all knew that the recovering version of John Danks was going to deal with longball issues. He never got lefties out. Can't be surprising when one of the best LH power hitters in the game takes him deep. Cut him some slack You'd rather owe him the monsterous amount left on his contract?
  10. QUOTE (sircaffey @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 06:37 PM) I'm not talking about another SS. I'll take any replacement level SS. An additional $10 mil spent at a position that actually creates runs will be much more productive than the amount of runs Alexei produces. He simply does not produce that many. For a team that doesn't score from the offensive positions to begin with, spending 1/10 of payroll on a .650 OPS SS is useless. This says it all.
  11. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 05:33 PM) Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 1m Sources: #Royals willing to listen on Ervin Santana, would move for right offer. https://twitter.com/Ken_Rosenthal My concern would be if the Cubs put Smaradja on the market.
  12. QUOTE (beck72 @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 10:43 AM) i dont think the Sox are throwing in the towel for 2014. that's why unless the sox get a replacement SS who can start next year, or are completely blown away by an offer for Alexei, I don't see him being traded. If the rest of the Sox team is good enough next year to win (highly doubtful), I'm sure they'd find a SS to approximate Ramirez production. Besides, it's not like they haven't given away playoff opportunities before to develop players. See Viciedo as opposed to Quentin in LF last year.
  13. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 10:37 AM) Beckham at SS would be a disaster. Jesus. He's not the long-term answer, but neither is Ramirez.
  14. Viciedo was overhyped. All that stuff about bat speed, his numbers never lived up to it.
  15. I don't think Viciedo has been worth the wait.
  16. IIRC, Peavy has had a rough outing or two in Texas. Might've scared them off too.
  17. I think Tex didn't want Peavy at least in part because of what AJ told them. That's probably why they gave up so much for Garza. Agree with Jamshack Hahn doesn't have to beat the Garza trade.
  18. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 11:52 AM) Well, he's definitely not a CF, and his baserunning has left something to be desired, to say the least, but those things can be corrected. The important thing is that he can actually hit and steal bases, and he is relatively affordable. Those things are not necessarily commonplace. It's about opportunity, De Aza might be the best bat available if he is on the market. The Sox would have to take advantage of that given their current state.
  19. Tear down. At least 7 guys gone.
  20. I think it will be a complete tear down that will include De Aza and Reed. Give the fans 6 weeks of seeing the guys they get in the deals and the season ticket erosion might not be as great as you'd think.
  21. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 06:02 PM) Why wouldn't Morales be worth a 3 or 4 year deal? Not a difference maker, 31 y.o., and with the added money from the TV deal, the free agents on the market will be way overpaid.
  22. There will be no available free agents next year who will be worth more than a 2-year contract to the Sox.
  23. If the Sox could get Castellanos for Reed and even Crain they should do it.
  24. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 21, 2013 -> 09:59 AM) Does that mean he has no clue, or expects major change? This guy would be in position to know. I took it as they have a lot of plates spinning and it's to early to even say how many players are going to be moved.
