They should stick Borch in RF and leave him there. See what he can do without the pressure of losing his job again. He won't have to look over his shoulder and he can play every day because he's a switch hitter...maybe he'll respond?

From HealthCentral.com Some patients also show signs of bone marrow edema, or the retention of fluid in the bone marrow, and/or malalignment of the upper and lower bones of the leg.

Not to praise a Cub, but people say the same thing about Greg Maddux. IIRC, I don't think he has thrown a no-hitter in his career. Throw strikes = get hit. Throw overpowering strikes = get strikeouts. None of the Braves pitchers, except for maybe Smoltz, was overpowering, they just nibbled a lot. As has been said many times in this thread...an out is an out.

Rauch was definitely a AAAA pitcher. And we'll probably reacquire Majewski for the second time. And cash is always good in the eyes of JR.

It's the moustache...

True...but he is a clubhouse leader, doesn't complain (you didn't hear a peep out of him when KW traded for uribe), improved on offense and defense in the time he's been here, doesn't whine to the media about money or playing time (which I'm sure JR LOVES) and honestly loves to play for the White Sox. That's why I made the last year of 7 mil a team option. He'll probably be declining, they can always release him and have him sign for less if he'll do that.
-
Gotta give the man a bit of a raise since he has improved this year. What about 2 years guaranteed for $5.5 and $6 and a team option for a third year at $6.5 or $7? I think that would be fair...he likes the Sox and wouldn't ask for anything outrageous, but this would show him he's appreciated.

That was a great one. I don't think that's showboating, though. When someone hits a big personal home run, they deserve to be happy. Carlton Fisk in '75 Joe Carter in '93 Schmidt Even McGwire in '98 Like you said, it's the glaring and the hopping and the bat tossing that really bother me. Not that you asked or anything.

Baggio and Ozzie...Airdale... Do you guys have any archived posts about the trades when they happened? I would be interested to know if you liked the trades you are now bashing when they happened. Cuz, I was thrilled to get the likes of Alomar, Everett, Wells at the time. Even dumping a middle reliever for a catcher of the future was a good call...there are fewer excellent catchers than there are serviceable middle relievers. And w/o Olivo, we don't get Ben Davis...i mean Freddy. C'mon, not all trades work out for the best, but you go by what you know. If you start to overanalyze, someone else is going to slip in and steal that guy. Make some suggestions and let's see what happens.

Easy big guy!!! They will be just fine. Every team goes through these stretches. They don't have Maggs, they've come through a HUGE and TIRING weeklong stretch of games against their rivals, they will get it back on track big time this week. I'm expecting a couple of double digit run games. No need to worry.

Stewart is a lefty, but he's experienced as a late-inning reliever and a closer... 2004 0 2 7.24 23 0 0 0 0 2 13.2 23 14 11 2 6 18 Career 10 6 3.85 203 0 0 0 20 26 168.1 167 85 72 16 54 153

What about Scott Stewart...The Indians are looking to trade him and except for this year, he's had a good career. Maybe Coop can teach him that cutter.

Isn't this the same CLee that took the extra base the other day when Tom Goodwin slipped? He didn't even see it and just put his head down, knew that Goodwin has no arm, and ran 1st to 3rd without thinking twice. The same CLee that was considered a poor outfielder and has taken extra fly practice to improve. I don't like the grandstanding either, but it's for the pitchers or managers to send a message, not the umpires or John Kruk or the league office. It ain't goin' away. And it's in all sports...TO and Joe Horn in football, Antoine Walker and Kobe in B-ball, etc.

Three reasons: 1) My first game was a Sox game. 2) Mike Squires was put in at catcher...as a lefty. That got me hooked. 3) Four roofshots in one night at old Comiskey in 1984. Mark McGwire, playing an exhibition with Team USA. Kittle, Luzinski, and someone for the Tigers hit it over the right field roof. Can never remember his name and I think it was the first time ever someone hit it over RF roof.

Let Carlos be Carlos...and eventually, some pitcher will throw it in his ear. That's how it should be anyway. Especially with Sammy...

There is no perfect solution. More security...sure, but higher ticket prices to support them. Police ourselves...alright, but it's going to be hard to get 38,000 people to buy into that prospect. No alcohol...do you punish the majority of good fans who just want a few beers for the mistakes of a few morons who can't hold their liquor? It's not fair to ask for an answer when there isn't a tried and true one. The Sox, for years, have been the Chicago team of the people, the blue collar, hard working South Siders. Always feeling snubbed (and mostly rightfully so). So when the shirtless, cell phone using, no game watching, preening Cubs fans come in to Comiskey, Sox fans go back to what they know...being the overlooked team and fans in a Cubs town. So Sox fans get pissy and drunk and start yelling. So what's the solution JimH...a combination of all the suggestions above. Like it or not, there isn't a magic solution.

I just hope they don't start the Jay Payton crap again!!! :puke I'd take Peavy and Giles and a PTBNL.

4. San Diego Padres -- Productive outfielder. So far, Ryan Klesko has one home run, and with some good hitters at the top of the Padres' order, there are many RBI chances for those in the No. 5 and No. 6 slots in the order. Magglio Ordonez would be a good fit; Steve Finley, the ex-Padre and current Diamondback, would be perfect. Just saw this on ESPN.com...Buster Olney is writing about needs for various teams and he's got the Padres needing a productive outfielder and suggested Maggs. Not a rumor, but is there anyone on the Pads that would be worth a trade? Nady/Eaton?

Great post. We also have Uribe to step into SS when Hose retires. Plus, as much as many of us would have rather have given up Borchard over Reed...KW probably had some pressure to keep Borchard because of the huge amount of publicity over his signing those years ago. He really hasn't had a chance to prove his worth without looking over his shoulder or fear of being sent down and he is the main insurance policy if/when Maggs leaves after this year. If he doesn't pan out then...see ya, Joe.

YOUR WHITE SOX WISH LIST for KW after Garcia Trade
CanOfCorn replied to RibbieRubarb's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Since they are in the middle of a race too, they probably wouldn't do this, but what about Yorvit Torrealba from the Giants. he's 25, has a gun, hit pretty well (except this year) and is buried behind AJ Pierzinski. He's been the back up for three years now, and he probably needs a change of scenery. With a little Alomar jr. tutaledge, you never know. -
Not to dogpile on you Brando...but you can't trade MO and Reed for a rental. Freddy Garcia is almost 15 years younger than Randy Johnson and they actually have a chance to sign him to a long-term (for the Sox) contract. I hate to lose Olivo too, but we can always get him back in FA.
-
It all depends on the makeup of your club. if you have a lot of money, like the Yankees, and can sign anyone you want, from anywhere around the world, you can pillage your system. If you can't do that, you have to choose who you think is going to be a good prospect for your team and stick with him. It doesn't always work out (Scott Ruffcorn), but it can (Maggs, Buehrle). The Sox can't pillage the entire system, but they have to have some redundancies somewhere they can pass along for a SP and a RP.

Speaking of Colon...K-Dub is looking smarter and smarter after letting him go. Check out these sorry ass numbers for an excellent team. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=5763
