QUOTE (WCSox @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 10:54 AM) As in he would be the first one released between the two? I'm not sure about that. Jose's recent track record has been better than Colon's. Not released, but replaced in the rotation. I could see a scenario where Jose is placed on the 15-day DL to "recover." If you know what I mean.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 10:54 AM) Maybe the train runs on I-35 for that part of the trip. Crappiest traffic in Texas! Busiest stretch of highway in Texas. And Tex, maybe you make stops at Texas State...the outlet stores...the snake farm...Gruene Hall...and the race track. Oh, and Fiesta Texas.

If Ben Gordon had any ball-handling skills, he would be great as a back-up PG/off the bench scorer. But he doesn't and he isn't. Ben, thanks for the years here, but don't let the door handle hit you on the way out.

Seriously now, though...last I checked, Contreras is still coming off a major injury. Now I know it sucks that he's getting his pitching feet we during the season, but who's to say he won't pick it up after gaining some confidence? Gotta throw him out there a couple more times. And Colon...as has been said before, he's had 2 good starts and 1 bad one. Not bad for a 5th starter. As it stands right now...Contreras would be the first to go...but give him some time to get his timing back. The Sox are tied for first. Relax...take a deep breath...chill out. Things will work themselves out.

Blow 'em out, Colon! -
The Samsung's keyboard is 93% of a full size keyboard and the screen is 10.2". Not too bad. This one.

Yes, I did see the #'s Huff put up last season. One season does not lead me to believe he's a good baseball player, though. JMO. Luke Scott...there's just something missing. Can't put my finger on it, but even when I saw him at Round Rock. He's just...I don't know.

The other factor about Europe...the old cities aren't built for cars, driving or parking AND gas prices are much higher. So it's cheaper with train travel. As for the hubs...Chicago is probably the best place to start. Why? Central location. Try to spider out from Chicago to the places mentioned above. Detroit, Indy, St. Louis, Minneapolis. If it works out and more people are using it, it's going to be a lot cheaper to start from here and go to NY, LA or Houston. I say, let's do it. I'll even chip in a few pesos.

QUOTE (Texsox @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 10:52 AM) My laptop is too big. It is a desktop replaceable with a 17" display. I am looking at something smaller for email, Soxtalk, perhaps some light word processing. Does anyone have a mini with a 9", 10", or 12" display? http://www.dell.com/content/products/produ...=lthp&s=dhs I've been looking at the Dell and HP offerings and thinking it's worth a $400 test. According to Consumer Reports (*grain of salt here*), the Samsung NP-hmmmphhmpph...is supposed to be the best one. Can't remember the number...410? Maybe? We are probably going to get that one. And also according to CR...the HP is the lowest rated. Acer is even rated higher.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 01:31 PM) His biceps are absolutely gargantuan, he was already probably the biggest (non-fatty) player in baseball and he's only getting larger with age. I can only imagine how big his ass is these days. Internal monologue, Kalapse...internal monologue.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 11:20 AM) I would have divorced my old ball and chain a long time ago becasue she has turned my grand daughter into a Red Sox fan, but... I am afraid of her and she makes pretty good money In Montana???

It's in Western Illinois.

I did once...in high school. Just to do it. Desiree in Skokie. My portion of the bill was probably $5. Total bill, maybe $15. Never will do it again.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 09:05 AM) I remember them always saying the Cubans do much better in "Cuban weather." The thing is, Contreras isn't loose or relaxed....not sweating in any of the games. You can see that he doesn't have confidence in anything but the fastball. That comes with time and heat/better weather conditions. And his velocity is not back, either. I'm sure that will change as June/July/August come around. Pitches don't move in the cold weather like they do in warmer, denser air. His forkball probably doesn't drop like it would in the summer months. Just like a knuckleball pitcher doesn't have as much success until it gets a little warmer. There's not as much "bite" in the air. Hitters on the other hand...who knows. Maybe Alexei isn't a good starter. So what? 11 games guys. 11 games.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 20, 2009 -> 02:46 PM) I will say this hear and now... We are not ready to beat Detroit or San Jose in a seven game series right now. Maybe in a couple of years, but these guys aren't quite there yet. They have got to figure out how to play sixty minutes in order to beat that top tier of teams. I agree with you on the Sharks. I disagree on the Wings. I think those last two games, as meaningless as they were for the Wings, gave the 'hawks a lot of confidence. By the time they would meet them, they should be over this inconsistency (I hope). But these 'hawks do remind me of the Bulls before Phil Jackson. They are missing one piece that could get them over the hump. -
Will White Sox fans also boo BA if he goes 0/8?

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Apr 20, 2009 -> 09:41 AM) I know a majority of this board will be all over me for this but maybe Greg Walker is having an influence on young guys. He is not going to change the likes of Konerko, Dye, A.J., Thome and even Ramirez as he could not do anything for Uribe as some hitters are what they are. Did he help Quentin...maybe refined him a little. The thing is, Anderson and Fields seem to simply want to make contact rather than hit for power (i.e. lift and pull). With this, comes lower power numbers. As these guys cut down on their strikeouts and become more selective the power will return. As for Anderson's RBI's and OPS, I rather he have an OBP of >.350 and let the other guys drive in the runs or be on base for the top of the order. Walker said as much on the radio a short time back. Basically, he helps the "kids" and plays psychologist to the vets. He said he doesn't have to tell players like Thome what they are doing wrong, they know it, and have to work out of it themselves. As for Anderson...small steps lead to bigger steps. Let him get comfortable in the 9 spot getting on however he can, walk, single, whatever. I would rather have a consistent Anderson with less power and more walks than an inconsistent Uribe who's on fire for two weeks, and then hits the occasional homer, but strikes out or grounds weakly to the left side all the rest of the time. It doesn't matter if you hit 20 homers for a season if 14 of them are in a month-and-a-half time period. -
QUOTE (scenario @ Apr 20, 2009 -> 02:26 PM) Although, I could see a scenario where he becomes BA's backup soon. According to JPN, Nix just started a 3-day rehab assignment in Birmingham. If he's ready to come back, I could picture Nix taking Owen's spot on the roster... which would probably result in Lilli getting time in CF. I bet you could.

Although I don't like seeing the 'hawks constantly battling back from being down, I have to say it's amazing to see this team mature in front of our eyes. Toews has ice in his veins...Sharpie is back with that sick move and I just loooooove that Havlat is scrapping. The one thing that I noticed was the beatdown the 'hawks were getting in the first period of both games. But, by the middle of the second period, Big Buff, Eager, Burish and even Ladd were taking some runs at Flames players. Basically saying, I know you're bigger, but we aren't backing down. And the fact that Havlat would shove Phaneuf...awesome. If the Ducks can somehow knock out the Sharks...I think we have a chance of getting to the Finals.
