  1. Have you read Columbus' diaries? He did not know what he had found, other than thinking it was India.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 22, 2009 -> 03:59 AM) Anyone find out if a closer has had a blown save vs the Sox this year? Not exactly what you're looking for but someone mentioned in chat we're 0-39 when losing after 8.
  3. It's not the door. Someone apparently drilled a hole into her room. Least that's what the radio said.
  4. Peavy came out of nowhere too. Granted, it didn't end up happening.
  5. I feel your pain. I've had a mad crush on this girl for the past year but I feel I've been permanently best friend-zoned.
  6. Baltimore had to be there for Fields, given that we just played them. I bet their ready to offer the world now.
  7. QUOTE (soxfan-kwman @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 06:28 PM) FYI- Wise has not played enough to use his batting average as a reference. You're right, his line of .211/.252 in 565 at bats isn't enough. Or his minor league career OBP of .309 in 3,500. I understand Anderson is a not so great baseball player, but I wish people would stop trying to search for justification of this move, because there isn't any.
  8. We did spot the other teams a 19 run differential in one game...
  9. QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 01:05 AM) the race to the moon was completely made up by our government. ...That's a lie. You realize they had already put probes on the moon before we did, right? Russia had very real plans to go the moon, but all of the sudden in the mid 60s their space program started to unravel with the death of many of their top astronauts.
  10. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 05:04 AM) If you really want to get crazy you can take a look at this. That's the only game of its kind during the Pierzynski era. I thought POCS = Picked off, CS. Or is it Pitch out, CS?
  11. QUOTE (The Baconator @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 06:49 AM) Wait, hold up. I think a lot of people are moving too fast here. After 3 starts everyone was saying they wouldn't trade Richard, "he's the next thing". Poreda was always "untouchable", but now that he's up (and not being used) we need to send him down and get Torres? Now, I like Torres and think he might have a chance in the future, but it takes more than 10 appearances with a 2.45 ERA for Poreda and 12 starts for Richard. Sometimes you just need to give a player time to adjust before you send them down (see: Brian Anderson...). Torres will get his time, just like how Getz had to wait for awhile. But give Poreda a chance before they send him down so soon. It's clear the Sox don't think Poreda is ready as a starter which is why most people don't want him up here for now. A Torres call-up is probably grooming him for when the inevitable happens: our 5th starters in Colon and Richard fail to get the job done again so we'll need a replacement. I've defended Richard more than anyone on this board and agree it's way too early to conclude anything with him. That said, we cannot afford to have the patience for him to come along right now.
  12. Jas said earlier his start was just pushed back one day (and it would have been announced after today's game if they wanted him on the roster tomorrow). Anyways, who would we send down with both him and Colon coming up? Poreda and?
  13. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 05:31 AM) Just got back from the game...is it me or could Pods have totally caught that liner hit to left? The replays says he totally could and should have.
  14. Given it's the last man on the roster, it isn't the worst move KW has ever made, but this is the most mind-boggling. There is no defense for it.
  15. QUOTE (boonrob @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 09:02 PM) Although Wise isn't hitting for average, he does a good job of driving the ball No he doesn't.
  16. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 09:27 PM) If they sent down Wise and lost him, then CQ went on the DL they would have to call up an OF they wont have any faith in. Are you inferring you have faith in Wise?
  17. Wise doesn't add depth so BA having an option is a moot point. We can find 10 of Wise just about anywhere.
  18. MB's still got an outside chance I guess. He'll need something to happen to Grienke, and for Roy to get traded to the NL though.
  19. Twins fans seemed pissed about Gardy's decision making tonight. Apparently Nathan was warmed and ready for Kinsler, and he went with...RA Dickey.
  20. Oh yeah, A Christmas Story. I watch it at least 15 times a year in December.
  21. Isn't there a limit to amount of rehab games? I believe it's 20 days so we still have a couple of days to see.
