  1. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 01:30 PM) I suggest that anyone who pitches/plays Vball do exercises to strengthen their rotator cuff, this is especially important on the arm you use to pitch or spike. The exercises are simple (you can look up a few on the net), and all you have to do is us a 2.5-5lb weight to do them. Some people are built to withstand more punishment on their rotator cuffs than others, but exercising them can seriously help big time -- and I'd have to say 99% of the people I see training never do these simple exercises. Yeah, I've been exercising my shoulder since I've been 15. I've been able to keep the pain low enough where I can keep playing competitively but I figure it's going to eventually get pretty bad. Hopefully not though. Rock, where'd you play your club ball at?
  2. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 10:21 PM) I think if you review some of the deals in the past few years for relievers around the deadline, you'll get an idea of what we are alluding to. I think Dotel may have even fetched a few decent prospects himself when the Royals traded him to the Braves in 07', and that was his first year removed from surgery. Kyle Davies came over to the Royals. I would like to see Dotel stay in a Sox as long as we're in it though.
  3. Are we expected to be going for a catcher with one of our first few picks? I hope we do. I would have liked Sanchez somewhere in there, and everything I read seemed to think he was grossly overpicked there.
  4. It's funny to see almost everyone we have drafted over the last ten years have been a bust, yet we been able to deal so many of our minor leaguers for actual major league talent. Makes you wonder what the problem is.
  5. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 22, 2009 -> 04:48 PM) Right, due to my shoulder issues from vball when I was younger, I aim for about a 90 degree angle of my elbow and then go back up. I will dip below that if I am loose, but wont go to my chest. You played volleyball when you were younger? I'm 19, played all my life, and my shoulder is an absolute wreck.
  6. He refused to talk to the press after they called Beckham up too. This is good news. Hopefully we don't have to see him for too much longer.
  7. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 09:15 PM) Lineups posted: Podsednik Ramirez Thome Konerko Dye Nix Getz Castro Anderson No Beckham. LOL
  8. QUOTE (Wanne @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 09:45 PM) WOW!!!...a Sox hitter going opposite field!!! Extend Walk.
  9. QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 09:39 PM) Ozzie better play Pods in center when/if Quentin comes back. Fixed
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 03:08 PM) Pods has been playing well, but chances are its not going to last. Maybe. We said that ten games ago and ten games before that. Either way you ride him out at this point.
  11. QUOTE (ChiSox420* @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 04:38 AM) Pods is an adequate lead off hitter, and Anderson is a horrible hitter. Dont get head of yourself anointing Pods some sort of offense juggernaut with his .298/.338/.379 line(i think at least .350 is what most clubs are looking for) and a OPS+ of 86, just because you can compare him to someone who's bat has no place meaning in the majors. But that's just it, it is a matter of comparison. By the way, check your numbers.
  12. QUOTE (The Critic @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 07:33 AM) he talked up that stupid Liam Neeson movie like it was sent down from Heaven by angels ....Speaking of man cards being taken away. How does one possibly not like Taken?
  13. Pods is making up for it with his far, far, far, far, far, far superior bat to Anderson's. Any amount of games he costs us will surely look paltry when given the alternatives.
  14. QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jun 7, 2009 -> 10:11 PM) Where are all the Walker defenders at? There is no such thing. Even his "defenders" don't possibly believe he is any good. The best argument they have for him is that canning him won't make things any better (but not any worse). At this point, it cannot hurt.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 7, 2009 -> 09:05 PM) We all loved it, as we should have. Looking back in FutureSox, seemed everyone wanted Smoak or another power corner guy. The immediate posts following Beckham being picked were "Meh", "Dammit!", "barf" and "Boo". Funny looking back.
  16. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jun 7, 2009 -> 10:00 PM) Admit it Williams, you drafted Beckham because you f***ing read Soxtalk and stole the idea from us, dips*** To be fair I don't think the drafting of Beckham was met with too many rave reviews here. We were still in that stage of clamoring for a toolsy HS player. Maybe I'm wrong though.
  17. "changes better be coming to this hee haw crew" This is quote of the year. Who said it?
  18. Colon's ERA is still decent and he's cheap. If you want him gone, you mine as well get something for him.
  19. QUOTE (TitoMB345 @ Jun 7, 2009 -> 09:54 PM) Well, bases loaded, at least we got one? Gotta love progress.
