6/6 Thread - Sox vs. Indians - 3:05pm CDT on Fox
Buehrle>Wood replied to knightni's topic in 2009 Season in Review
f***ing great that I don't get to see Beckham play. -
Zelda 2 was a downright awful game. The first wasn't all that great either. Link's Awakening is my favorite, followed by Ocarina and Twilight Princess. I'd put Windwaker as the worst of the 3D games.

Derrick Rose's High School Grades Were Altered
Buehrle>Wood replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Ron Guenther, Illinois AD, giving leverage to the shoe conspiracy: “We understood what was going on (with Rose) all along,” Guenther told the Champaign News-Gazette. “The sport of men’s basketball has issues that the NCAA has been trying to address. There are many tentacles to the problem, so there is no magic bullet to solve it. It has been a focal point for discussions in this conference for more than 10 years. We’ve had task forces looking into the AAU, the shoe money, the agent.” -
There was a show on one of the channels that was basically just a different 1 hour horror movie every week written by a different person every time. Anyone remember the show and if it's coming back or not? I assume not but maybe.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 02:36 AM) And so what happens if we have all the correct videos and scouting reports that you guys think we don't have yet still aren't hitting these guys? How do we interpret that? The canning Walker was of no loss.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 02:30 AM) But then on the other hand, there are more than a few guys who we wind up having surprisngly good approaches against. Justin Verlander is the classic example; we've probably already cost him a cy young award by being the only team he's always shellacked by . That's one thing that always drives me crazy about the "Fire walker!" hysteria. Whenever we do come out and have a good plan against a guy, come out and beat on a guy who we really shouldn't be pounding, he never gets any credit. I would say I could probably come up with a half-way decent scouting report after seeing a pitcher up close 10+ times. We need a guy in there who stresses the importance of analyzing scouting because this current plan clearly is not working.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 5, 2009 -> 02:16 AM) If Greg Walker actually does the things people here think he does, teaching "Lift and pull" and all that crap, sure, fire him. It's no longer about what we do under him, it's about what we don't. That is, we have absolutely no approach against certain guys... say guys we've never seen before. 1-7 with an ERA in the mid 1s against first time pitchers speaks for itself. It's astonishingly bad.

Miyamoto on Zelda Wii details: http://wii.ign.com/articles/991/991714p1.html "So we hope in the future to go ahead and work with people to again make games that are maybe more skewed toward an older audience or a more focused audience. " " Well, the story setting for this Zelda is, of course, in a completely different era and Link is older than he was previously. More approaching adulthood. There is one hint. Maybe from the art work you can see that he's not holding a sword." (on the story differering from TP:) " I can't go into details except to say that it's something completely different" "When we are working on the plans for them, we are trying to come up with ways where we can satisfy our longtime fans and bring new players into the franchises as well. That's something we're always looking at. However, when I get involved in a title, I focus a lot on more experience and the more advanced gameplay elements. If I get into it, there's a tendency for difficulty levels to ramp up so that's something I really have to watch for myself to make sure that I don't do that." Zelda without a sword would be interesting. The chick is apparently the master sword incarnate. That should make for some rather interesting gameplay.

Did anyone see some idiot was trying to write a sequel to A Cather in the Rye? He should be burned at the stake.

Dreamcast 2.

Our scouting department and Greg Walker are a joke.

Moment you've all been waiting for.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 05:13 AM) Hey SoxFan1, you go to GVSU? If you're gonna be there for the next couple of years, watch out for a RB/WR/KR/PR on the football team, Billy Seiler. Not the biggest guy, but he's fast as hell, extremely strong for his size, and no one works harder than him. He'll make an impact for the Lakers. Marist kid?

Article on the decline of baseball card collecting
Buehrle>Wood replied to smalls2598's topic in The Diamond Club
I remember always buying the packs of the top set that had that famous Frank rookie card with no name on it. I finally got one but it had is name on it. So sad. But awesome. -
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 01:19 AM) I've written a letter. Dear Dave Matthews Band, Go the f*** away like right now. And take you stupid fan-base with you. Punish extra those who refer to you as "DMB". With Love, Thunderbolt Fixed.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 06:57 AM) Jerry Owens? Jose Paniagua? Mike Myers? Jeff Abbott? Jeff Liefer? This team does need more Jeff Abbott.

Replace Wise with just about anyone and I'm finally content with the roster (as long Gobble remains mostly unused).
-
I remember a big part of the hype around Prior is that he had "perfect mechanics". Funny how that changes after a career full of injuries.
-
I can't even watch Fallon. It's like witnessing a non-stop awkward moment that is constantly making you cringe.

QUOTE (daa84 @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 04:31 AM) its just my opinion, but everyone who calls him slayer reminds me of George in the seinfeld episode where Dan Cortez plays Tony and George has his man crush on him But we all do have a mancrush on him?
-
We need to get his nickname into the mainstream.
