2009 schedule announced for White Sox
Buehrle>Wood replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Whose bright idea was it to have one of the Cubs series in the middle of the week? Also, a 6 game road stretch to Cleveland and Detroit to end the season can't be good. -
I assume everyone means the NLCS, not WS.

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 04:26 AM) Whenever I go in there, no one is there so that's why I don't usually participate. We've been having big crowds. You just have to stick around for say 5 minutes and people start coming.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 03:30 AM) No, he's not better now. That is freaking crazy to say. 2005- 2006: 3.55 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, 47/53(87%) on saves 2007-2008: 2.70 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, 68/77(88%) on saves. Freaking crazy, I tell ya.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 03:25 AM) How can some of these bull pen guys come to the park everyday and put on the uniform? 11 runs in what 7 innings these last 3 games and I didn't even try and look at last weeks games before the rains And yet some want to trade our best arm in there(and yes, I realize he contributed to the numbers above).

QUOTE (BearSox @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 02:51 AM) I know Jenks is a fan favorite around here, but face the facts people, Jenks is not the same pitcher he was in 05 and 06. Correct. He is much, much better now. QUOTE (BearSox @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 02:51 AM) I'm still wondering how he has an ERA under 4 this year. It's almost to the point of concern that some people cannot(or refuse to?) grasp that Jenks is a top of the line talent. Apparently it'll even take more than 1.5 perfect games worth of outs to prove that he is. Seriously, what does he have to do at this point?

Come on O.

Awful throw. Awful effort to get to the ball.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 07:12 PM) Ok, so if someone offers you two highly-touted prospect position players or a starting pitcher and position player that can help your team, who cares Bobby's dominant? Gag me, it's still only like 80 innings worth of ball. Closers are expendable. We should know better than anyone that a sure thing in the bullpen on a year to year basis is truly something precious. It would have to take an absolute king's ransom to get Jenks from us now, and that's how it should be. Going into his FA year, that might be a different story. But with him under control for three more years, there is absolutely no reason to even think about anything like this unless someone wants to set up our franchise for years to come. QUOTE (TCQ @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 09:41 PM) You can say that a lot of teams have troubles with closers and thats fine, almost fathomable in fact. but, im under the impression that with every team with a s*** closer theres some guy like kevin gregg or george sherril who put together very good seasons with no precedent of closing it is a mental thing and very easy if your not an idiot. (Billy wagner is an idiot ) Sherril of 5 ERA fame and 10 BLSVs in 45 chances and Gregg who has 15 BLSVs in 77 chances. This in comparison to Jenks who has 15 BLSVs in 130. Not exactly the best comparisons there. The drop off would probably cost us a playoff birth.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 06:32 PM) I agree Jenks is a stud closer and we have nothing to worry about, but closers labeled as untouchable is a joke. Not when they are as dominant as anyone, under control for three more years, and likely aren't going to get what he's worth to our team.
-
It's always hilarious to see such a big deal made out of Jenks loss of velocity when he has become a better pitcher in the process. He should be an untouchable.
-
Maybe Minny can get their Rangers on and put 30 up.
-
Jurassic needs to be in the top 5.

QUOTE (spiffalicious @ Sep 12, 2008 -> 07:48 PM) Here you go: http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=28282 Some things from that thread: 1. About as unanimous as a "good" move reaction as you'll see here from ST. Sorry Juggs... 2. The Gooch love was strong at the time. 3. I forgot about this board becoming Cora talk. Ugh, good thing that never happened. The potential Eckstein signing that everyone was hating on way back when would have been much, much better than Cora, but overall it's great we settled for Iguchi.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 12, 2008 -> 03:13 AM) Is there any team Verlander is worse against than the Sox? I doubt it. Well, Cleveland for one. Weaver's stats though versus us are unreal. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 12, 2008 -> 03:08 AM) Thats baseball buddy, we hit alot of pitchers that kill other teams too. I would like to see if there is anyone as good against anyone team than Weaver against us. I would imagine the list to be short, very short. -

Illinois and Indiana both with top 5 classes right now. Not likely to stay there, but these next few years should be fun. -
Yeah, if we blow it now this day can sit down right next to Jose Paniagua. EDIT: And someone beats me to the Paniagua mention.
