Goldschmidt is biggest name that comes to mind

So Eloy can watch Harper half-ass it in the outfield?

I've yet to see one person outside of the Sox org that thinks he can be a full-time catcher

Biggest concerns with him is his awful defense, with a lot of whispers of him moving to 1b eventually. That’s a ton of money to pay for a 1b in today’s environment. To me, Harper would be a bigger factor in terms of public relations. With that said, I think there’s zero chance he comes to the Sox and risks being on a non-competitive team with a weak fan base.

Let’s just offer his dad a spot on the team in true recruiting fashion. I’ve seen him throw BP, it’s not much different than Shields.

Machado at 3rd is clearly the better long term fit.

Yet in this case, we have no evidence at all that Bryce and Manny even like the organization.

Yes, it would be terrible.

Andrew Miller seems like an ideal target, but I could see Britton given they’ve liked him in the past.

If they go sign Harper, they will probably use guys like Happ to flip for a closer (Diaz)

I’m shocked I still can’t believe that people think Theo signed Darvish, Chatwood and Hamels to only put himself in a position to not be a player in this market.

well said, I'm a fan of Cease but he's far too risky to trade a top 5 prospect for alone

Reds would need way more than that. I think it’s more likely Reds trade Scooter

Grandal is terrible hitting against LHP, and so is Narvaez. Going after him would make no sense honestly, as I'd rather just go with Castillo/Narvaez.

I can confidently say that as Sox fans, we would hate Grandal (and yes SS2K, I hate everyone on the Sox). I do know the Sox liked him as a prospect coming out of college.

I'll be honest, I'm excited to see how he's performing so far. Like you said, he's seeing advanced pitching and doesn't look overmatched at all. Let's say the Sox didn't sign him and the Cardinals did. We would all be quite pissed with the highlights he's put up the last few weeks.

Ask anyone around, I've posted KLaw/Kiley/Longenhagen stuff when it's positive or negative. Definitely posted some positive Adolfo stuff earlier in the year from KLaw.

I really hope he’s not let go just to sign Adam Jones to a bigger contract.

To be fair, he’s been pretty awful in high leverage situations during his Sox career according to fangraphs

I’ll be honest, I don’t see the point of any of these veteran signings if they aren’t part of an invasion led by Harper or Manny

Possible gossip on Yanks offer

He seems like a perfect fit for the Cardinals.

Donaldson has had lower body injuries the last two years that really impacted his ability to hustle down the line. Just like with Machado, it would be quite interesting to see how Ricky gets along with him.
