Oh stop, you know one of them would get hurt and Engel would play all season.

If Brantley is the main acquisition, I would rather they just keep Avi one more season and see if he puts it all together. I know I keep saying this, but the key is to find core guys for 3 years from now.

How dare you forget bringing back Shields!

Sorry I suck at clipping comments, but Longenhagen seems quite down on Burdi: https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/eric-longenhagen-chat-11-8-18/

Yeah would be a good complimentary signing but would hope he’s not main acquisition

Manny 10 Harper 1 (this is up from last week)

One concern I have is that he’s bad on defense and limited to LF. That would force Eloy to RF which isn’t ideal. To be honest, he seems like a great fit for Braves to replace Markakis.

hypothetically if you sign him, that would mean no Bryce obviously. Would hope Manny is in play

will he be at the Hawks game tonight?

He was right on the Yu and Morrow stuff last offseason before anyone else.

Gives them more leverage in trading Schwarber and/or Happ if other teams think they aren’t desperate to create a spot for Harper

He only named 3 guys in a post!

If he was spotted, wouldn’t there be pictures on Twitter?

Maybe Bryce is coming to Chicago to meet with both teams this weekend? This guy has had some good scoops in the past: https://mobile.twitter.com/CharlsMeow/status/1060524979559653376

Something to ponder: rumor is Sox put together a Manny presentation a few weeks ago. Why is the Harper one being done now? Does that mean Manny signaled he’s going elsewhere?

Ohtani kept the Cubs in his top 5 because their presentation was so good

Or when Ricky calls for a bunt

I predict they sign 4 free agents in Pollock, Moustakas, Gio and Familia. Come April 15, lineup is: Yoan/Pollock/Abreu/Moustakas/Eloy/Avi/Palka/catchers/Anderson Rodon/Lopez/Gio/Giolito/Covey

Biggest threat for Manny has always been Yanks, as that’s supposedly been his preferred team. I wonder if they won’t trade someone like Andujar + for Kluber and then sign Manny.

Some pretty honest remarks by Buck. https://nypost.com/2018/11/07/the-behind-the-scenes-problems-and-on-field-brilliance-of-manny-machado/

Baez wouldn’t finish a game if Maddon held him to the hustling to first rule

Yeah if they get Manny, then by all means sign Cruz. I just don’t want a lot of third-tier guys only brought in just to try and win 80 games.

It would just be spending money on a team likely not to be competitive and not gaining core players. It’s biggest reason I was all in on the Sox going after Yelich, Cain and JDM last offseason.

I’m thrilled if they spend big, but only if it’s for core guys when they hope to be contenders in 2-3 years. Guys like Familia and Cruz on short-term deals doesn’t interest me at all.

Don’t forget Manny had a major injury earlier in his career on the bases
