QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ Jul 21, 2017 -> 12:19 AM) Longenhagen did say on one of the FG pods Burger had some of the best exist velo numbers in college baseball. Yep him and Sheets were near the top. Another good thing by scouting the stat line is lack of errors for Burger

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 21, 2017 -> 12:03 AM) Burger 2-2 with a double Seems like a lot of his outs are lineups or errors, which hopefully implied hard contact

The holes of the system:shortstop and catcher
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 20, 2017 -> 10:56 PM) Off topic, but that dude's newsletters or emails or whatever are such a waste of time...does he ever actually say anything about baseball? One of them was all about his prescription anti-anxiety medication. Only view his chats

The holes of the system:shortstop and catcher
QUOTE (Quin @ Jul 20, 2017 -> 09:34 PM) Hell, count Omar in there as he should really only be entering AAA by this point. The Sox have legitimate catching prospects and the fact that Collins is seemingly developing well defensively makes me happy enough to offset his disappointing average. Still waiting to hear anyone not affiliated with the Sox say that Collins looks better on defense. In a recent chat, KLaw said he has heard absolutely nothing about Collins improving

Sox send Frazier/DRob/Kahnle to NY ~ Rutherford/Clarkin/Clippard/Polo
One other thing, WSox weren't only team that wanted Blake in a trade. Earlier in the week, one of the main reporters had a tweet that said teams were asking for him

Sox send Frazier/DRob/Kahnle to NY ~ Rutherford/Clarkin/Clippard/Polo
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 20, 2017 -> 09:13 PM) See, I think you can make arguments for either side. The White Sox were looking at a guy in Frazier who was probably going to be worth a C- prospect, and Robertson maybe a C+/B- prospect if the Sox pick up half of his salary, and combining those two might get you both of the other prospects that you'd get. I don't think you're getting Rutherford for those two combined. Meanwhile, the Sox traded Tommy Kahnle who has literally been good for half a season. Given, he has been very, very good, like among the best relievers in the game, but it's half a season regardless, and they hardly gave up anything to get him, so if his inclusion gets you an A prospect plus a B- prospect and a C prospect, then I think it's worth it. On the other hand, Robertson and Kahnle are both still very good relievers and Frazier was still putting up positive value despite barely cracking the Mendoza line. The Sox got a very talented prospect in Rutherford but he's still in low-A plus a couple of other flyer sort of prospects, so yeah, you can say the Yankees won that deal. Frankly, the Sox got a guy they coveted so it's hard for me to say they lost that deal in the short-term, but I get how you can say they didn't win the deal or they perhaps didn't maximize value. Well said, this was clearly a guy they coveted

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 20, 2017 -> 09:50 PM) You can say what you want on the deal(and I've said my piece) but saying the Yanks no longer had high hopes for Rutherford after drafting him just last year is absurd. Yeah even I have slim hope for Collins

Sox send Frazier/DRob/Kahnle to NY ~ Rutherford/Clarkin/Clippard/Polo
Like I mentioned a few days ago, I think the insane trade predictions by Nightengale messed with our expectations

Sox send Frazier/DRob/Kahnle to NY ~ Rutherford/Clarkin/Clippard/Polo
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 20, 2017 -> 08:43 PM) No Robles/Fedde/Soto... Doesn't mean they won't actually do it...but would you have taken Kieboom for Robertson? Matters how much money is involved. First instinct is yes, but I think not having to cover anything was a vital part.

Hope everyone saw that Nats won't trade a top prospect even for Justin Wilson, who has more value than DRob

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 20, 2017 -> 04:05 AM) This is almost certainly a reverberation from the Robert signing. Benetti also mentioned it as a key part of the deal

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jul 20, 2017 -> 03:40 AM) Perfect fundamentals from TA. Finally. Not at the plate. Had a 1-0 pitch and weakly guided the ball to right field. He's so much better when he tries to drive the ball

QUOTE (Jack Parkman @ Jul 20, 2017 -> 01:54 AM) May I ask why? I could see him as a young Max Scherzer (glass half full) or a journeyman back of rotation guy(glass half empty) or he could be a reliever. Just not sure if he can pull off the finesse style when he loses a few mph.

QUOTE (Jack Parkman @ Jul 20, 2017 -> 02:46 AM) Rodon, if he figures it out, will take a while. He will be in the 26-28 age range if he ever does. He might make a journeyman career with pitching coaches thinking they can get the most out of his stuff if he never figures it out. Unfortunately, if he figures it out, it will be too late for the Sox. He will have either been traded or it will be year or two of good pitching before he walks. I'm not so sure he's going to be a pitcher that ages well

7/19 Games (Fulmer, Stephens)
QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 20, 2017 -> 01:32 AM) Sounds like if Fulmer had spent all of 2016 in A+ and started this year in AA, you'd love him. I don't see how these guys repeating AA or in Stephen's case reaching AA at 24 years old is supposed to be some conclusive proof that Fulmer is an inferior prospect. It's fairly logical to think if we slow-walked Fulmer's development, he'd have a fan club following his AA debut this year with interest. I've been wondering if he might be hurt since about mid-May this eyar, but what seems most clear is the Sox are paying the price for pushing his development timeline harder than was reasonable. All you have to do is see the stuff he's throwing and it's pretty evident he's a long shot to perform well in the majors. His stuff has declined too much to make up for his mediocre command. Stephens had the injury issue, but unlike Fulmer, at least he's consistently getting AA hitters out

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jul 20, 2017 -> 01:33 AM) I'm about ready to just trade him for whatever. This would be as low as his value could be. Let him get his value up and consider it a year from now. I do hope next year that the Sox let him loose and tell him to throw hard and use his slider more.
