  1. Should have a better idea tomorrow about Fowler, as Tampa might be making a deal. They still haven't announced the Pearce signing, as their 40 man is full
  2. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jan 28, 2016 -> 03:50 AM) And couple corrections to you post. Sox could have a good scouting department unfortunately it's the player development group that's the issue. Sox get guys with potential but unfortunately can not develop the players to get the talent out of them. Secondly cubs dont don't get a pick for fowler. They get one but will be lost right away. Remember they signed both lackey and Heyward which each cost a pick. So they loose their 1st round pick and also the comp pick tied to fowler. They just will get their second round pick. What sucks about the system is they can bring back Fowler and just spend a fortune on Lazarito and not have their system suffer. They already signed a guy last October that some thought would be the first pick in draft if eligible.
  3. I will be shocked if he can't put up a sub 4 in that park
  4. All along, I have felt the Cubs told Fowler to hold off signing with another team as they finalize a monster deal with Tampa. Recent leaks about Tampa being interested in Dickerson and Desmond seem like a push to get the Cubs to up their offer. If the sox do get a Fowler, it needs to be two years at minimum.
  5. Who am I missing on the bench? Navarro, Schuck and Sanchez
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 27, 2016 -> 05:15 AM) But we know if he was on the White Sox...somehow...he would just end up with a 650-675 OPS, be exposed defensively and hit about .050-.075 cumulatively against the Tigers and Royals. Still better than LaRoche vs LHP
  7. The coming home special on Abreu was great. He's such a fascinating individual, I would love to see him make the World Series and get national attention.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 27, 2016 -> 05:04 AM) Somehow, Raburn will end up on the Cubs...just to torment Fathom. Their bench is far too good for him
  9. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 27, 2016 -> 05:31 AM) Sox can't really get involved. He'll go to Dodgers or Cubs because they've already gone way over their pool. If the White Sox were to sign Lazarito, they wouldn't be able to sign anyone from the 2016 class. I would take that risk for him but we all know the Sox would never do this. The system is such a joke.
  10. QUOTE (spiderman @ Jan 27, 2016 -> 04:09 AM) Given that some of the best remaining options require draft pick compensation, has there been any thought that perhaps the best remaining course of action is to do nothing? Yes, you're banking on Garcia, La Roche and others rebounding from down/bad seasons, but you're not giving questionable deals and losing picks while retaining payroll flexibility. You're also exhausting Garcia - he either makes it or not. Problem is there are no back up options for Avi and LaRoche if they fail. If the Sox aren't going to spend a lot over the next month, at least bring in Raburn to platoon vs LHP. As it stands now, there is no one to help out LaRoche. Hahn better not give us the BS line that LaRoche will bounce back against southpaws.
  11. Another report that Desmond asking for a lot https://mobile.twitter.com/MaxWildstein/sta...167841559252996
  12. Chris Cotillo reporting Tampa interested in Desmond https://mobile.twitter.com/ChrisCotillo/sta...164283522781190
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 26, 2016 -> 06:09 PM) The Martian was ok, not much more than that. Liked the scientific part of it. Definitely not a comedy though
  14. Prediction that Hector Sanchez makes Opening Day roster after Avila gets hurt in ST
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 27, 2016 -> 01:02 AM) So another answer for nobody. I will give you they passed on Boras clients, but so did a lot of teams. Other than that, they gave Borchard the biggest bonus of all time at the time. KW fired Duane Shaffer because of his bad drafts. It wasn't bonus money that made them pick Mitchell over Trout. And how many draft picks did they give up to sign players? They gave up one for Dunn, other than that he was the first free agent from another team KW gave more than $20 million. The vast majority of draft picks wind up in a different profession. Some are good, and some you hope can become inventory for trade. I will give you there will be a player or more available at 28 who will be a future all star, and maybe even better than that. What evidence does one have that the White Sox will select him? The better chance is it becomes someone you can trade someday for someone like Fowler. That is essentially what you would be doing anyway. I like draft picks as much as anyone, but the chance to get someone that will be a top 5-7 player on this team at lower than predicted AAV is something this organization can't pass up in my opinion. They need to keep adding to the talent level on the MLB roster.
  16. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 26, 2016 -> 11:45 PM) I just read it. I really hope the fans ask him some tough questions at SoxFest. If we enter the 2016 season without at least one more significant addition, then Hahn has officially half-assed it and his job should be on the line. A complete lack of direction is simply unacceptable given where our roster stands. Yep, Hahn's job needs to be on the line. He hasn't put together a contending team at this point while also putting together a terrible farm system. You can't go into the season with no alternatives to Garcia, LaRoche and Saladino.
  17. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 26, 2016 -> 06:48 PM) It's the only scenario in which giving up a pick makes sense. Sign Desmond to 3 yr deal, Jackson to 1 with option. After 2016, Desmond or Anderson can transition to the outfield or Anderson becomes a great trade chip.
  18. QUOTE (QuickJones81 @ Jan 26, 2016 -> 06:28 PM) Easily B. Another trade will leave the system gutted beyond the top 2 or 3. It already is outside the big 3.
  19. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 26, 2016 -> 06:44 PM) Excellent Point. This is why I'd much rather have Austin Jackson, who was also a 2 WAR player last year. Getting Desmond and Jackson makes so much sense
  20. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jan 26, 2016 -> 07:51 AM) For some reason I was thinking Fulmer was #1 on everyone's White Sox list. BP is severely overrating Anderson and underrating Fulmer, IMO
  21. I'm surprised and disappointed at the absolute lack of rumors tying the Sox to any of the remaining players on the market by national writers.
  22. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jan 26, 2016 -> 03:21 AM) It improved his chicago connections for when he comes to Champaign though. He'll turn them into Transfer U 2.0 then?
  23. Some of the Bulls beat writers are destroying Snell on Twitter
