  1. These guys chase so many bad pitches
  2. Terrible effort all around today.
  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 24, 2015 -> 09:37 PM) Salazar went 6, Marcum went 6.2 My fault...what was the stat someone posted yesterday about it, if you know?
  4. Not a lot of hard hit outs this home stand
  5. Cubs bring in Montero and Fowler, who have been awesome for them. Between them and KC, why can't the Sox get offensive guys to perform well after a move
  6. Please make some personnel changes tonight. Can't keep running this 8-9 out there.
  7. On the home stand, I believe every starter went at least 7 innings.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 24, 2015 -> 09:19 PM) Fathom, you can't 'go for it' with a defense this putrid. They aren't winning anything and I would think they'll FINALLY figure out you have to catch the ball and throw the ball and start to rebuild. Defense will look much better if you bring in new catcher and 3b. I also think Anderson will wind up at 2b.
  9. QUOTE (reiks12 @ May 24, 2015 -> 08:15 PM) Yeah but Sale is one of the only two marketable players on this team. They aren't going to trade him. Not with the abysmal attendance figures and low popularity in the city. All matters what direction they want to go. I think they will go for it again next year, which means a Sale and Q stays. If they are looking to rebuild and trade veterans, then one of them should be dealt.
  10. It wouldn't shock me to hear Q is available at the deadline. He's a good pitcher on a great contract, but if you can bring in a starting position player and a good prospect, then it could make sense.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 24, 2015 -> 09:06 PM) This season has convinced me that we should. They blew this year and in the process blew next year IMO, leaving them a much longer rebuilding project. If Dodgers want to give the sox Seager and Urias, then sign me up.
  12. The ERA for the big 3 starters is stunning. Making it look like they are pitching in steroid era
  13. QUOTE (raBBit @ May 24, 2015 -> 08:02 PM) Who's really down though? Adams for sure. Davidson is repeating last year basically. Montas hasn't been nearly as effective but isn't struggling necessarily. I was expecting more from Adams and Montas, as I thought they were 3-4 in terms of our prospects. They haven't been bad, just not elite. In general it just seems no one has really taken a step forward to become a possible big league contributor in the future they we weren't already counting on (Guerrero would be the most improved)
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 24, 2015 -> 08:59 PM) I disagree, because at the deadline teams will be clamoring to get Shark if we leak it to the press he's available. There will be a race to get Shark and Robertson, even Lexi. These are key pieces (on paper) to a contender. Melky is a valuable bat; ditto LaRoche (on paper and to fan bases; we know better). I think it is a perfec scenario. That's why I said TRADE everybody except Abreu/Sale. Why not trade Sale then? Especially it he's a two-pitch pitcher now, why not deal him before his elbow explodes? It won't happen, as this team will try to compete next year.
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 24, 2015 -> 08:56 PM) I disagree on Melky. That was a ridiculous acquisition. I do agree with you about guys underachieving. I'm at the point I can't stand the sight of several guys at bat, which is not good for Memorial Day. Guys who make me ill at the plate: Eaton, Melky, LaRoche, Flowers, Soto, Avi only because he swings at each and every pitch; Lexi and Gillaspie. It's not fun to watch any of those guys bat which again, is sad since it's only May. Even the great Abreu who I love swings at every single pitch. Avi has been far and away the most exciting hitter for the Sox this year.
  16. By no means am I a big Samardzija fan, but I liked the trade cause I didn't think anyone in package they gave up would be a difference maker
  17. Melky now 2 for last 23, no walks or extra base hits
  18. over 30k today, nice!
  19. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ May 24, 2015 -> 08:46 PM) Ah yes, Davidson, whom Hahn evaluated as being the Sox starting 3B for many years to come. This organizations sucks at identifying, evaluating and developing talent. It starts with ownership and goes down to all levels. Cronyism and favoritism is no way to run an organization. It's a strange situation, as almost all of Hahn's moves have made sense on paper. For one reason or another, a lot of them haven't worked out so far. The most logical explanation is the players just have underachieved significantly to their ability. To me, the following moves were good and made sense, regardless of what the production has been: - Eaton trade - Reed trade - Abreu signing - Melky signing - Samardzija deal - Robertson deal - Boni/Beckham deal
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 24, 2015 -> 07:41 PM) I disagree. Semien was gobbled up. Ditto DeAza. I think LaRoche and Lexi and Melky will be popular targets of NL teams. Shark will be wanted by everybody. Ditto Robertson and Duke. TRADE, TRADE, TRADE. Why would any team trade for Melky right now? Sox are stuck with him for a few years, unless he starts turning it around big time. As Danks has showed, a majority of GMs aren't dumb in baseball, and if you sign a guy to a multi-year deal and they end up being a bust, it's very hard to unload them.
  21. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 24, 2015 -> 08:40 PM) Not sure I will understand how Sanchez hits so well in AAA and just can't hit anything hard up here The same AAA level where Leury Garcia was close to hitting .300 a couple of days ago? Goes to show you just how awful Davidson has become.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 24, 2015 -> 07:38 PM) Not me. People got mad at me for ripping on Melky. Emilio was a joke of a signing. Shuck as well. They are inconsequential bodies. Shark sounded good cause in theory we'd have an above average big three of Shark, Sale and Q. The Emilio signing was fine, but I think the org quickly lost faith in him when he couldn't hit or field during ST.
  23. Seems like a lot of players are slumping hitting for the Sox minors. Davidson looks like he's going to end up being a massive bust unfortunately. I know I might be in the minority, but is anyone else disappointed in the progress of the system so far this year?
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 24, 2015 -> 07:20 PM) i don't think they have "resources" at all. I think they spent them this year, unless they're willing to trade Rodon. Danish or Montas would be the trade chip I would use to start a package
  25. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 24, 2015 -> 08:16 PM) I don't think they have anywhere close to the funds available to sign him this offseason, I don't think they're going to get offers for him that are better than the sandwich pick, and I think they're going to hang around "5 games under .500" where an occasional good series will push them close enough where they can convince themselves "Hey we should add to this rather than trade away". Then they'll hit their usual late-season swoon. I agree that they won't have the funds when it comes down to it, but they'll still consider pursuing him. Personally, I think all the resources need to go into finding a C and 3B.
