  1. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 03:57 AM) First place may be history soon. Better now than in September if this team is going to tank.
  2. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 03:55 AM) He might be done for the season. Is this what you've heard or just your speculation?
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 03:53 AM) Wonder how Dr. Lewis Yocum and and his staff missed that one? Glad he got the second opinion, surely he knows his own body better than anyone else and just felt that something wasn't right...an acute ache or pain, a soreness that lasted longer and that he had never felt before between starts. On one, it's great to know that's probably a lot of the reason he wasn't performing well, trying to pitch through it since Spring Training and never getting his crisp fastball back and just gutting it out ala Peavy. It really puts the whole organization at a cross-roads in terms of what to do about 2012 (buying, staying put or selling or a little of all 3), though. Right now, you don't make a move with regards to the rotation. Sounds like KW is desperate at 3rd base if he's suggesting moving Viciedo there.
  4. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 04:45 AM) Quintana is here to stay. Until he hits the 75 pitch mark
  5. From everything I've seen, it sounds worse than it is. Does make you wonder how they missed it on the initial MRI and you have to be thankful the rehab game he pitched didn't cause more damage.
  6. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 04:21 AM) Grade one labrum tear for Danks. Also known as a muscle strain. I hope John likes resistance band exercises, because he's going to be doing a s***load of them. This deserves a thread dedicated to it. Not good news if the Sox were expecting him to contribute in the immediate future.
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 04:23 AM) If we had just kept Juan Uribe after 2008.... Basically every major decision the organization had made since 2008 has been the wrong one (besides drafting Sale and extending Konerko), it's easier if you just sum it up by saying that.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 04:19 AM) I avoided this one like the bubonic plague...well, actually, I had to get a health exam so lucky I missed it. Fathom's point is a good one. We knew a couple of days ago they were going to move Sale back and use Stewart, we should have played the entire bench AND started Stewart on Sunday...get all the bad news out of the way in one game. Essentially, we just gave up 2 of the last 3 games...it's not like we're in a pennant race or anything. That Dodgers' series is going to have a hangover effect, it looks like. We'll find out for sure tomorrow when we start the game with at least a decent chance to win the game. Nice to see in the Tribune that Kenny seemed to question Ventura's decision making on Sunday. No reason not to win at least one of the next two, especially with Dempster out on Wednesday.
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 02:34 AM) According to the Tribune, KW suggested to the coaching staff Viciedo return to 3B. The coaching staff shot him down. What a mess. Still unbelievable to me they didn't have a back-up 3rd baseman on the bench coming into the season if Morel struggled again/got hurt. Too bad they didn't get Chavez like they tried to.
  10. Well, this outcome is truly not shocking. Two straight give away games by our stupid organization. Great thing we rested all of the starters yesterday when we knew that Stewart was going tonight. Starting Quintana tonight would have made so much more sense, especially with the Cubs being 3-15 vs LHP this year. Zach Stewart is terrible (I don't think he'd even be effective in the minors with the stuff he has), can we please stop trading with the Blue Jays please?
  11. Youkilis for Thornton maybe? Especially possible if Morales is turned into a starter for Boston.
  12. With Morel being out until at least the ASB, it sure seems like it's Hudson or bust for the next few weeks.
  13. Morel out until at least the ASB http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,1829688.story
  14. Well, Happy Fathers Day everyone. This clearly sucked, but nothing more to say about that debacle.
  15. Robin, next time you have a chance to try and score in the top of the 10th and have 1/3 of your starting lineup on the bench, please try to get your good players into the game. It was like he was playing for a 15 inning game.
  16. Well, time for our stopper, Zach Stewart, to go beat Garza tomorrow
  17. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jun 18, 2012 -> 12:07 AM) Wouldn't that have been caught if the outfield had been playing up like they were supposed to? Why were they playing so deep? Neither one of them could have thrown Gwynn out on a fly ball that deep. The game winner was a hit no matter what. Playing Gwynn so deep to left is ridiculous though, as he couldn't homer to the opposite field if he was swinging from second base.
  18. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 11:06 PM) Matt Thornton gave up two soft liners to left field He just hasn't got the job done, no excuses. When a big out is needed, he's been unable to get it. How about he miss a bat once in a big spot this year?
  19. Matt Thornton continues to throw low fastballs that completely negate his velocity. I'm so happy Cooper went out there to share his words of wisdom.
  20. Terrible, this one is on Ventura. Hooray for rookie managers.
  21. Wish we gave Abreu this amount of respect last inning and kept in the lefty to ensure he couldn't be used.
  22. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 11:59 PM) What is the OF doing so deep? This team desperately needs a better bench coach.
  23. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 17, 2012 -> 11:56 PM) Do we want to pay AJ Pierzynski $15 million for the next 2 seasons? Other than Napoli, there are ZERO free agent catchers that are interesting options. Maybe Doumit would be okay, Iannetta's the other guy there. The thing is, we'll never know whether Flowers could be serviceable hitting-wise because nobody in baseball can be effective playing once every 10-14 days. Yes, I'd rather pay AJP than to see Flowers/Phegley
