Excellent play by Cutler on that 3rd down. Gruden needs to agree to the soxtalk hyperbole agreement though. -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 11, 2011 -> 01:20 AM) the bears are so awful. i'm ready for this team to tank so we can clean house. I'm with you here. This offense is amazingly bad. Cutler is a waste in this offense. -

This might be the sloppiest first quarter I've ever seen -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 10, 2011 -> 11:34 PM) Well why isn't Seitzer considered the best or one of the best? KC hit the s*** out of the ball. People here love the offense in KC. But you wait and see the responses we get about Seitzer on here. Seitzer does the same stuff as Walk. Talks to the hitters, makes tape available but ultimately they have the bat. You've gone out of your way the last few months to make it seem like the manager/coach has absolutely nothing to do with the performance of the players on the field. I must say that I disagree with you on this.
-
If it's true that one of the options was to make Konerko a player/manager, then that's very disappointing. I'm not quite sure what's going on with JR and Kenny right now, but it seems like a lot of the decision making is being made for the wrong reasons.

Another strong episode of Homeland. I really like the addition of the Prince's "escorts".

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 7, 2011 -> 07:06 PM) I want him to not sound like someone completely unprepared for what's to come... sadly, that's what he is, though. I do agree he's coming off terrible so far, but thankfully he has time to get these things figured out by next February.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 7, 2011 -> 06:53 PM) The Robin getting in Frank's face story being talked about on Boers and Bernstein. Any details for those that have never heard it?
-
Of course KW would be CRAZY to take this stuff to court. With some of the things that have gone on with Kenny, he needs to just drop this whole thing with Cowley and move on with Ventura.
-
QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Oct 7, 2011 -> 06:22 PM) Didn't hear the call. I'm surprised they're so open about this part of the whole thing. Not a huge deal on its own, but it'd be a big thing when part of the media battle you have to wage is how motivated to manage your new manager is going to be. I will say that the chance of Ventura being one and done is infinitely higher than if Martinez or Alomar was hired.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 7, 2011 -> 07:14 PM) You can see every pitch you have ever seen in your whole career, and sometimes that can be overwhelming. Sometimes you can pick up more from watching the games on the bench. He's made this reference a few times the last 24 hours. Think this is in regards to Beckham?
-
I'll be honest, Cowley didn't come across bad in that interview. Cooper confirming the two parts of that story are going to add to Cowley stating he's telling the truth.
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 7, 2011 -> 04:45 PM) So the solution to addressing a manager that was awful at those things is to bring in someone who has never experienced any of it? Mind-boggling really. I don't blame you for the skepticism at all. I'm pretty sure the Sox could have hired Terry Bevington, and I would have been just as happy that the previous regime is done.
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 7, 2011 -> 04:42 PM) During those 2000 games was he ever asked to discipline a trouble maker? Was he asked to yank a player for dogging it? Has he ever pulled a pitcher that wanted to stay in the game? Has he ever dealt with an under-performing starter with an up and coming bench player in their shadow? Good points sqwert, but at the same time, Ozzie failed miserably in these particular situations.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 7, 2011 -> 04:55 PM) Putting a guy on the bench who totally focused on the game while he played it versus a guy who never met a camera he didn't dry hump? I have no doubt that the focus will be back on the field, because there won't be the stupidity going on off of it. Ventura hated dealing with the media, and has always been an intensely private person. There won't be anything else to talk about, except what happens on the field. Well said!
-
Well, it's obvious that Cooper orchestrated this whole thing so Ventura quits after a few months (due to his heart not being into coaching) and Cooper can be named manager so he can finally get what he wants.
-
Is there any doubt now that some of the moves made during the season by Ozzie were to try and put the spotlight on Kenny (ie: having Dunn ph in 9th inning)?
-
So you had a GM and Manager that hated each other, a Manager and a pitching coach that didn't trust each other, and players that were pissed about all the drama going on? I am definitely excited for a new era of White Sox baseball with the focus is on the field and not off of it.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 7, 2011 -> 01:31 PM) Well it started with Goldschmidt, and I am sure it included multiple top level pitcher prospects. You really think KW would try to reacquire a young lefty high school pitching prospect he already traded? Doesn't seem like something he'd do.
