Another splendid game for Rios. That's his 78th double play over the last 3 months.
-
Flowers struck out? NO WAY!
-
Anyone else watch The Event? It was going pretty well until the final minute or so.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 06:55 PM) Every championship has a degree of flukiness about it. Check out the Blackhawks Stanley cup winning journey. TONS of flukes contributed to their run, as is with every championship. Perfectly articulated Rock! You look at the World Series games, and we were a pitch or two away from losing each and every game. We had a lot go our way in 2005, but the key is we capitalized and won the whole thing. Some teams do have magical years, yet can't win the championship.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 01:22 PM) If Jerry Manuel were managing, this collapse would have been all his fault. Its pretty much been disgusting how the Sox have played they last 14 games. Well said! It all started when the players started talking to the media about how disheartening it was to not gain ground on the Twins despite winning 7 in a row on the road.

Omar and Kotsay better not start another f***ing game this season. Shut down Sale and Santos while you're at it. -

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 05:35 AM) Ouch, first real bad at-bat by Morel the same night he makes his 1st ML error. Ouch. Morel struck out in his first AB by swinging and missing a slow curve by about a foot. -

Morel looking absolutely overmatched so far in Oakland. He seems to really struggle with offspeed pitches. -
Read that Floyd is still having soreness behind the shoulder. Hopefully it's no big deal if they haven't done an MRI, and he's had shoulder pain for a week now.

Seems like Ozzie and Sox might go their separate ways in a few months if JR/KW don't extend his contract http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,2031227.story

1st and 3rd, no outs...and Manny still can't manage to get an RBI. He might as well just keep his bags in Oakland, as it's very possible that is his next team. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 04:29 AM) Are we Sox fans in for some serious misery for some time to come? Our pitching staff should be good enough to make us respectable, but it's scary to think how big the talent gap between Twins/Tigers and then the rest of the division could be next season. Indians don't have much going right for them either, so we should be middle of pack for a few more years. -
QUOTE (typewritermender @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 04:29 AM) Package Gavin to the Brewers for Prince! I think Floyd, Harrell & Quentin could at least get the talks started... Harrell's not a prospect, and why would the Brewers want Quentin when they already have Braun? Also, why trade a starting pitcher and possibly our lone returning power threat for a one year player who wants a king's ransom and Boras is his agent?

QUOTE (Cali @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 03:13 AM) What kind of package could we get for Mark from St. Louis? At this point, freeing up his salary while getting an average package for him would be just fine with me. -

Twins with a huge 8th inning, so this season will effectively be over in about 90 minutes!! -

QUOTE (Cali @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 04:09 AM) I have not been impressed with Buehrle since his "perfect game +" One of the lefties will be traded in the off-season.... Worst season by far since his disasterous 2006 season. It would be much better if Buehrle is dealt and Danks stays around, but I can't see that happening. Mark, the NL is calling your name. -

QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 04:07 AM) It'll work if we have Carl Crawford in LF and Victor Martinez at catcher.. and Adam Dunn at DH. (or Quentin gone if RF for a Choo like bat). You're better than that...you know we're not going to be signing a big name player (unless it's Konerko). -

QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 04:03 AM) It's obvious these guys care about as much as we do at this point. Yep, it's pathetic. If you're going to be terrible, at least play all of the young guys and stop pressing the starting pitchers so much. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 03:57 AM) Well, Morel will be an upgrade over this year you would think. Omar is too old. Viciedo might emerge as a stud hitter. He better work on the scoops; Paulie is a master at scoops. Morel at third, Lexi at ss, Beckham at second is a pretty good defensive infield. Viciedo at first ... he better work this winter. Ozzie doesn't seem ready to put Viciedo into the starting lineup full-time. The scary thing is that if Konerko leaves, there's a very good opportunity for Ozzie to bring back Kotsay and play 1B in a platoon. If that happens, can we pray for a player's strike? -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 03:53 AM) Welcome to third base the next 12 years, Mr. Morel. He is a starter for a decade. So now it's Viciedo to first base for sure. Paulie likely to be gone. Should be interesting next year. One thing is sure. Third belongs to Morel. Well, that team will f***ing suck then. -

Morel playing some nice defense, seems to have good lateral range. -
Scalabrine is a great bench contributor...by that, I mean he does a fantastic job of cheering. I like him being on this team.

I'm excited that we could easily get no-hit tonight. I've never seen a team just flat-out quit like the Sox have over the last 10 days or so. Absolutely disgraceful! -

Viciedo and Flowers better be playing against a LHP tomorrow.
