  1. It's really time to end the stupid Castro is Garcia's personal catcher thing. Not having him face Liriano, who is deadly on lefties, is just bad strategy.
  2. Wow, he basically started his career and ended it by tearing his ACL. Hell of a career
  3. The scene from Back to the Future II where they say the Cubs won the World Series. Also, the scene from Gran Torino where the girl comes back home after being raped.
  4. Paul Konerko hitting a walkoff home run in game 7 of the WS for the Cubs over the Sox.
  5. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 04:34 AM) Ozzie Ball is shaping up to be one of the most disastrous offensive experiments in recent memory. At least the basecloggers are gone . It's like half of our roster is being used to kill the other half of the rosters rallies. Hard to say it's one of the biggest disasters based on what our final record is likely to be. Based on our record vs AL teams though, it does seems like Ozzieball is not the way to go.
  6. This article just makes you shake your head....I can't believe he mentions the NL games as part of his justification for rotating DH. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,6226876.story
  7. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 04:16 AM) It hurts losing to a team that still looks better on paper, whose GM actually went out looking to fill the holes on their roster this offseason. At least we got Ozzie to admit this is the best team he's ever managed. This Sox team is the best he's ever managed? WHAT? I'll take the 2006 roster over this one in a heartbeat.
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 03:06 AM) 99 percent of the people on here didnt want Thome back while watching him last season. Hindsight is a fun game. Hey, I'm still mad we didn't go with the Branyan/Gomes platoon for like 3 million.
  9. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 04:01 AM) Thank you for making this thread. Fire Ozzie, he is losing games for us. No reason to say Fire Ozzie right now. Hopefully we win this division, and then that's not even a thought. However, if we do not make the postseason, there needs to be some changes to the way the team is constructed. Lots of time to think about this, so I'm going to do the best I can to enjoy the pennant race. The one bright spot no matter what is the run we had vs NL helped our attendance for rest of the season.
  10. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 02:43 AM) He must really hate Thome for some reason. For whatever reason he has to use every opportunity to tell everyone how he couldn't use him in our lineup. Well, we know Ozzie thought Thome wasn't "mean" enough and the clubhouse suffered as a result. He wanted more grinders!
  11. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 03:40 AM) I don't see how we win this division. The Twins have a better 25 man roster and an easier schedule. Oh yeah...they own us head to head too. I think it will be extremely difficult, as the Twins offense just is showing no signs of slowing down. Also, the removal of Blackburn for Duensing has really helped their rotation. Pavano being a possible top 5 Cy Young pitcher also helps.
  12. If Morneau can return and be 80% of the player he was to start the season, this Twins lineup can easily win the World Series. When guys like Hudson and Hardy are your easiest outs, you're a very tough lineup to face. They're also second best in the majors against LHP, which you wouldn't think of based on all their lefties.
  13. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 03:35 AM) ML leading 56 CS for the Sox including Rios' tonight. Next highest is 39. That's a heck of a lot of outs to give away. That doesn't even take into account the numerous outs we've given up with bunts.
  14. QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 02:24 AM) The Freddy Garcia Experience is OVA! It's a miracle Reinsdorf and company got away this long with this year's version of hoping to catch lighting in a bottle. They need to grow up and start being major players in free agency. I'm sick and tired of weakening one position to shore up another. We should have a decent starter and at least one more bat BEFORE the season started. They had Hudson ready to take Garcia's place if he struggled.
  15. I really hope Beckham is ready to play tomorrow. The Legend of the Lillibomb is fading away.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 03:20 AM) Bah, he's been helped by the rest of the pen so much that you can't care about that number. I'm simply thinking of trade value in the offseason.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 02:17 AM) Did I see Linebrink at 97 there? At the rate his fastball is going up, he'll be throwing 102 by the end of September. ERA almost under 4
  18. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 02:17 AM) with the exception of you, of course I highly, highly doubt I was the only person that thought Garcia was a bad match-up vs the Twins tonight with this warm weather and Twins swinging the bats well.
  19. The last two years, Rios stole 56 bases and was caught 13 times. This year, he'd matched that total of caught stealing and only has 24 steals.
  20. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 03:11 AM) 5 runs by the 6th off Baker? I would've taken it to start the game. Who knew Freddy would take a dump?
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 03:10 AM) And yet, we're above .500 on the road, and coming into today, teh Twins had the exact same road record (and home record) as the Sox. I didn't say we're a terrible team on the road...rather, we've turned into an amazing home team. The quality of our at bats at home is fantastic.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 03:08 AM) This level of offensive production would have swept the Orioles. Watching this team play games at home, as opposed to on the road, is like night and day.
  23. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 02:07 AM) Let's not forget how B Jenks helped jump start their run by blowing the save in the finale of that 4 game series...thanks alot fat boy. They swung the bats pretty good the first three games of that series as well, but there's no denying that the Jenks game can be pointed to as the turning point of the season if the Twins win the division.
  24. Pena's done a good job as an innings eater out of the pen this year in a role he was never, ever supposed to have. There's a big difference between being a good pitcher, and doing a good job in your designated role.
  25. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 01:58 AM) Or we could have signed Thome and just kept Hudson in AAA all year or used him right now to give Garcia a break. And there's the added benefit of he wouldn't have homered off of Garcia. Sigh. Well duh, rarely do you see a manager make a personnel mistake that changes the tide of the division so significantly. I despise the fact that we got rid of 6 years of Hudson, even if Jackson has looked good.
