  1. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 04:22 AM) your probably right. but a guy with a high OBP to plug in the 5 hole is just what the team needs. Fielder recently rejected a HUGE offer from Milwaukee so he would certaintly be a rental player for 1.5 years. So why would he be a good fit for this Sox team that's looking to reload/rebuild next year? Why use up all of our expendable money on one player?
  2. I saw that Jake Fox was DFA'd by the A's. I was a huge fan of his last years. Could be a good bat to acquire for nothing if we go young.
  3. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 02:57 AM) .250/.331/.415/.746 line over the first 1360 PA of his career for A Gordon. But could you imagine how many more homers he'd have at the Cell?
  4. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 02:50 AM) What 8+ spots ? 1B, back-up catcher, DH, 2 other bench spots, possibly 3 relief positions
  5. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 02:49 AM) I have it from VERY good sources. Look at you go!
  6. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 02:43 AM) As of Friday, there is/was no interest in AJ at all. Link? Just kidding...you seem pretty confident in that.
  7. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 03:46 AM) Your best idea since you've been on this board. It makes sense, especially with Jose Guillen in the last year of his deal. If Gordon turns it around at 3b, then you move Teahen to RF. I also want Alex Gordon and Gordon Beckham batting back-to-back to match the Dodgers with Casey Blake and Blake Dewitt.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 03:43 AM) Quentin too. I would try trading him for Alex Gordon...who knows how much another team likes him.
  9. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 03:43 AM) They will not get the return for him. I think they offer arbitration. Flowers is making the choice to not trade him easy at this point. They would never offer him arb. Better chance they give him a 2 year extension than arb.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 03:43 AM) Alexei had 6 sacrifice bunts last year and has 11 in his career. (I have no idea how many attempts). 8500 attempts
  11. Greg Walker is an absolutely terrible hitting coach for young players. Beckham and Quentin could easily be the next in line of guys who just busted big time on the Sox, along with Fields, Caruso, etc. Beckham worries me more than Quentin, as at least Quentin hits the ball hard occasionally.
  12. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 03:41 AM) They are not trading him. Kenny is pretty easily fooled into thinking that any teams is a winner just lurking to break out. A nice little run against bad NL teams might get some prospects shipped off for our run that will never appear. I actually agree, and it's more likely he gets traded in a month or so.
  13. If this was AJP's last game, I want to say that his pitch calling this series was absolutely phenomenal.
  14. BTW northside and others....do you see why we keep saying that the NL sucks at hitting?
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 03:35 AM) Lefties hit .116 off of Marmol. Righties actually hit .180 against him. Of course...but then you have to consider how some of our guys are against sliders. I wasn't too upset Quentin was left to bat, as he has slider speed bat sometimes. Alexei had no chance against him.
  16. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 03:34 AM) Having an NL line up with Beckham, Nix, and pitcher obviously isn't our strong suit. And Jones and Quentin.
  17. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 03:33 AM) People jumping on our hitters looking bad in the 9th. Marmol has an insane amount of ability when harnessing it. I tip the cap, cant be shocked w/ our bats the way theyve been this year. Ramirez couldn't touch a slider that Chase Blackwood's fiancee could throw. How did Ozzie expect him to hit the best slider on the planet?
  18. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 03:33 AM) I've had with this team's offensive approach the last 5 years. Yes, EVEN IN 2005!!! It's always fun watching our approach in Backe in Game 4.
  19. Seriously, what's the point of having Kotsay on the bench if you're not going to have him hit against one of the toughest righties on the planet?
  20. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 03:32 AM) We lose a game after winning 4 in a row and nobody can stand this team. Hilarious. Tonight was an awful offense performance but gimme a break. Gavin was the man tonight. Considering what it could have been, thanks for this perspective.
  21. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 03:32 AM) He has possesses a tool? Could have fooled me. Do you support my nickname of the Bust Brothers for him and Beckham?
  22. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 03:31 AM) I can't stand this f***ing team. What the f*** was Konerko doing swinging at two sliders that f***ing low and away? He was practically begging to hit into a DP. Hawk always talks about thinking you're in control of an at bat and the pitcher is in trouble. That was definitely not the case with PK's at bat.
  23. Carlos Quentin has turned into a one tool player at best. Sad to see.
  24. Awful managing by Ozzie not using Kotsay instead of Ramirez. You want versatility, then use it you pathetic idiot!
  25. Here comes a 2-1 fastball. How about a Quentin HBP?
