QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 06:57 PM) You want to know a pretty big organizational flaw that is never talked about. Cooper preaches pitching to contact yet the defense is never addressed properly. Mark Teahen at third is not addressing the defense properly. His reactions at 3rd are comical. Looks like someone who's never played the position before.

Are the White Sox relevant? Is 2007-itis setting in?

QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 06:47 PM) The same goes for 07'. I remember they basically were untouchable until Aardsma gave up that homer to Thames in the 3rd game of the series in Detroit, when we were going for the sweep. After that, it was all downhill. Our bullpens tend to start getting touched up once the weather starts warming. Ugh, things were rolling along until that 2 out home run. Like you said, the season went downhill from there. With all this being said, seeing a lineup like today's just magnifies how bad we are right now. -

You have to be f***ing kidding me. Worst thing is Beckham got a hit in his last at bat, and now he sits today. Once again, Ozzie doing everything he can to get Vizquel and Kotsay in this lineup. -

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 06:40 PM) That bullpen was more effective? 2008 Bullpen ERA: 4.13 2010 Bullpen ERA: 2.42 This bullpen is flat out better, no contest, at this point in 2010. No idea where you get that the 2008 one was somehow "more effective". Let's wait a whole year before we claim this bullpen is better. That bullpen was amazing during the first half of the year with Linebrink being untouchable. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 07:26 PM) On this date in 2008, Carlos Quentin was hitting .241 with 4 homeruns, 10 RBI, 10BB It wasnt like he was carrying the team at that point. And Alexei wasnt mister grand slam until the weather warmed up and he was put in the lineup permanently IIRC, he wasn't playing every day. As a matter of fact, I know he leadoff one of those games. -
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 06:38 PM) meh. Thome's got 5 hits in 22 ABs, Kotsay 3 in 25 ABs. Jim does have 2 dingers, but he's still slow as s*** on the bases and can't play anything but DH, while Kotsay can play a slick 1B or even the outfield in a pinch. Kotsay also is slow as s*** on the bases. For all this versatility talk we heard during ST, there sure hasn't been a lot of creativity from Ozzie.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 05:53 PM) Theoretically, who would be on your "short list" of possible available managers on a note hidden away from Ozzie behind the "Big Board"? 1. Don Cooper 2. Don Cooper 3. Don Cooper

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 04:45 PM) I also believe Ozzie had a huge say in not bringing back Dye or Thome. It absolutely was Ozzie's decision not to bring back Thome, as he didn't think he could get him enough at bats. All Spring Training, we were told this is Ozzie's team and the roster he wanted to be assembled.

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 05:31 PM) Yeah I'm actually in agreeance with fathom here. That said, KW has to take some of the blame as well, all of the decision makers should if we continue to struggle. KW could have done better by simply not trading for Pierre, and putting the money that you save from that deal towards signing Damon and keeping Thome on a smallish contract. There's no doubt that KW has struggled the last two years with the talent he's signed/traded for. Not a lot of return so far on some huge investments.

QUOTE (scenario @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 05:16 PM) So... Name the players who are on this team because Ozzie told Kenny to go get them. 1. Pierre? 2. Andruw Jones? 3. .... IMO, this 'Ozzie's team' thing is waaaaaaaay overplayed. Outside of his stated desire for a fast leadoff guy and a rotating DH, the only control Ozzie has over this mess is what names from the existing roster he chooses to play on a certain day. Ozzie said after last season that he loved Mark Kotsay. Ozzie's also spoken about his affection for Vizquel, and we all know he loves Garcia. This is the type of roster Ozzie wants, and KW finally gave him the keys. If this roster doesn't work out, then you have to go with another strategy. OBP would be a nice start, but we all know Ozzie doesn't care about that.
-
Are you kidding me? Pierre's probably his favorite player in all of baseball. Ozzie doesn't care about OBP, and that is why you've seen so many pitchers dominate us with 10 pitchers or fewer in a game. This absolutely is Ozzie's team, and his job should be at stake if this team continues to flop.
-
I'd go with Quentin. Outside of 2 games, he's been virtually worthless this season.
-
Rasmus showing some massive power so far this season.
-
Greg Walker shouldn't be in his job. This was obvious for the past 3 seasons. If last year didn't get him fired, then nothing is going to.

QUOTE (daggins @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 03:02 AM) I'd like to think this is hitting bottom for the Sox but I have this feeling it is going to get worse somehow. I read today we're the healthiest team in baseball. Wait until we start having injuries, and we see the likes of Lillibridge back up.
-
QUOTE (bschmaranz @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 03:56 AM) So what was everyone else's favorite moment of the 2010 season? I really liked Mark Kotsay batting 3rd after losing the first two games of a series.
-
I really want to see Santos pitch in a meaningful situation.
-
Lucy continues to have really good ABs.
-
I love how Ozzie doesn't want to put Vizquel in for mop up duty, as it's disrespectful in his mind.
-
Linebrink actually looks really good out there.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 03:14 AM) Two breaks for the Sox in this inning, now comes the GIDP Good call...I really liked seeing Quentin and Konerko both go out of their way to pull that outside fastball.
-
When's the last time Beckham hit a ball hard?
-
QUOTE (Chisox88 @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 02:08 AM) Maybe we can get Bryce Harper! He's going to be in this year's draft.
-
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 02:07 AM) So we've got everything in place for an epically bad season. Yep, but KW will probably add payroll instead of unloading players. Of course, his ass should be fired anyways.
