  1. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 14, 2009 -> 07:09 PM) I have a feeling he might be perfect for 9 innings going against this lineup. good call
  2. Decision day for early entries is tomorrow. My team, Ga Tech, just caught a HUGE break when Gani Lawal decided to return for his junior season. A month ago, it seemed he was 99 pct likely to enter the draft. Ga Tech should be a top 20 team next year, as they have 2 of the top interior players in the country (and hopefully enough talent to make up for their coaching). The biggest name still on the fence has to be Luke Harangody, and a lot of people think he's leaving.
  3. Seeing a lineup like this that's so weak makes me so thankful we didn't trade our pitching prospects for Peavy. With Dye and Thome possibly gone after this year, it's very important we have available resources to upgrade our offense.
  4. And that's why it's hard to take boxing serious. Cotto fought dirty as hell I thought also, as that punch to the back of the head was pretty vicious.
  5. Well, there wasn't even a White Sox Loser thread last night.
  6. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 14, 2009 -> 01:30 AM) I didn't see it... but from Dam's descriptions, that certainly sounds like a guy looking to walk rather than a guy looking to hit. That's been the biggest knock on him. Something that can hopefully be adjusted. We all know this is a different type of pick than the player we watched in last year's CWS.
  7. Is Danks a little banged up? Not in the lineup tonight against a RHP. With the way things are going, you always have to wonder if he's been called up.
  8. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 14, 2009 -> 12:11 AM) Tyler Flowers is this organizations most immediate challenge to Joe Borchard's record of longest homer ever hit at the Cell. You obviously didn't see Contreras swing the bat today.
  9. Linebrink couldn't even get through 1 inning, and now Thornton has to come in. Linebrink really struggling right now, as he's got to throw something more than just a 91 mph fastball right down the plate. I still wonder if he's 100 pct from his injury last year.
  10. Macha should be ashamed of his players today. Nearly every one of them has had terrible body language out there. They definitely seem to be a pissed off team, and not necessarily because they're losing.
  11. QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 13, 2009 -> 11:31 PM) I cant express in words how false I think this is. Guys like Thornton dont just grow on trees,if anything Thornton is next in line to close if Bobby gets traded. Don't worry, I think you're absolutely right and he's not going anywhere. I really want to see what he can do as our closer, and for now, he needs to be our 8th inning man regardless of who's batting.
  12. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jun 13, 2009 -> 11:21 PM) I think Kenny has Thornton involved in a blockbuster trade. He doesn't want him to get hurt or diminish his trade value. Could be the other way around, and he's trying to showcase the other guys.
  13. Why has Matt Thornton become our mop-up man?
  14. Give Beckham another year, and he'd have about 4 homers already in his 10 plus games.
  15. You don't think Cooper wouldn't love to try and trade for Jeremy Jeffress?? Throws 98 mph consistently, just has never put it all together.
  16. Oh Beckham...flies out 399 feet to center field.
  17. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 13, 2009 -> 11:07 PM) I still say, if he keeps performing, that they should trade him as soon as possible while he has value. Basically what I say in the post above. I know some will get mad at these type of posts, but talk about the ultimate sell high
  18. This is amazing by Contreras. Not only am I proud for him personally, but his trade value has got to be sky rocketing right now if we want to trade him. You don't think a team like the Brewers wouldn't give up a good package to get him pitching for them instead of Parra?
  19. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jun 13, 2009 -> 10:03 PM) He'll usually bite and miss. That's his big weakness at this point, pitch recognition. From what you've seen, is this Danks problem also?
  20. PK had the single greatest sports moment in my life (grand slam in game 2 of the WS). With that said, if we have to trade him, I'll wish him the best and hope we get a good return. He'll always be one of my favorite sports players.
