OC finally gets a nice hit, and then shows terrible instincts to go for it.

Just got back from a long day of family functions. I see that CQ continues to rule, our starting pitching keeps us in games, and Swisher/Thome are worthless.

Terrible by Piniella. Why take out your best overall player in Lee just to get Blanco to bat instead of the pitcher? Also, I can't believe they threw a fastball to Bay with 2 strikes. Wuertz has a great slider, and Bay's been known to chase that particular pitch. Oh well....nice end to an annoying baseball day.

My wife just made a good observation....the Pirates have hit about 100 weak grounders to the 3rd base coach.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 25, 2008 -> 04:13 AM) fathom, do you watch every Cubs game? Not trying to be smart. Just seems like you watch every game. Yep, but to be fair, I watch tons of games not including Sox and Cubs. I miss any Cubs game day during the week. I've watched a lot of Reds games this season as well. I love having the Extra Innings package on DTV.

I'd rather watch college softball than the Pirates.

Um, Fukudome foul tips a bunt attempt, and they call it a ball. It's too bad Hawk's not doing this game, he might have a heart attack with these umpires. Grabow's really making the Cubs earn it here.

QUOTE (daa84 @ May 25, 2008 -> 02:49 AM) yeah he basically got a fastball right down the middle.... and lou makes a mockery of the new mlb rules...thatll make bud happy..what a dick hank white is playing first lol Technically, Piniella should have not been allowed to pull the pitcher. You're supposed to have to make the move as soon as you leave the dugout.

QUOTE (daa84 @ May 25, 2008 -> 03:38 AM) luis rivas has a .236 obp....and we think we have it bad with uribe! He had 4 straight batting practice fastballs to hit that at bat.

QUOTE (daa84 @ May 25, 2008 -> 03:30 AM) cubs are about to blow this open too...isnt this like the third of fourth game the cubs have gone 11+ in pittsburgh this year? Yes it is...Lieber's pitched in all of them I believe.

The Pirates always make Lieber look like Brad Lidge. Great effort by Capps tonight, but unless he can go 10 innings, I can't see the Pirates winning this.

QUOTE (daa84 @ May 25, 2008 -> 01:39 AM) no s*** ....hes gettin the slider 6 inches off the outside corner And now a pitch at the letters. What a freaking joke. I honestly think the only way the Cubs don't make the postseason is if Marmol tears his elbow.

Holy cow, does Marmol have naked pictures of this umpire?

QUOTE (daa84 @ May 25, 2008 -> 02:36 AM) ohh thought that mighta been gone by laroche And then he swings at a pitch 2 feet inside. Marmol gets the respect from the umps that would make Greg Maddux jealous.

One other question....why weren't the Pirates guarding the 3rd base line when Ramirez was up?

QUOTE (daa84 @ May 25, 2008 -> 02:26 AM) guys dont worry...luis rivas will save the day if not maybe doug meinkeixicz, or maybe jason michaels...or maybe another fill in the blank guy who was run out of the AL Ironic that Wilson and Doumit will be back next week, right after the Cubs have played the Pirates 250 times this season.

Did you hear the stat about how consistent the Cubs offense has been this year? They've scored roughly 32 runs in every inning this season besides the 9th inning.

Greg Walker yet again leads Sox to worst batting average
QUOTE (greg775 @ May 25, 2008 -> 12:47 AM) We are in first place. There's no way Oz and/or KW will fire him during the season. So we might as well quit moaning about Walker and wanting him canned. Like many said ... you think Thome, Konerko, Crede, Swisher, A.J., Dye are going to listen to a hitting coach, any hitting coach? I'd rather continue blasting the players when they suck than dredge up the fire Walker thread, because he's not going anywhere. They might not reach out to be told what to do, but if you don't think that a new hitting coach might be able to give them a different viewpoint as to what they're doing wrong, then you're naive. Either that, or please sign Manny Alexander, and get our players on some PEDs.

Worst managerial move I've ever seen....Pirates let Fukudome bat with a runner on 2nd and 1 out. They had a tough lefty up in the pen. Instead, they let Fukudome face Yates, and of course, he singles up the middle. Go f*** yourself Pirates!

Pirates bullpen going to hand the game to the Cubs. Nothing like throwing Aramis a good pitch to hit on 1-2. If the Sox had the Cubs hitting, they'd be the best team in baseball.

Negative Catch All ~ House of Blues
When the fans go nuts when Jim Thome gets a 25 foot single, you know he sucks. At this point, OC and Swisher are massive busts.

**White Sox vs. Angels Game Thread! 5/24/08**
Sadly, I went to the game. The parking was just awful, and the game was worse. This offense is atrocious. I don't know who's worse in clutch situations, Thome or OC? Danks was solid, but he has to stay stronger towards the 100 pitch marker than he does.
