If it was for sexiest male sportscaster, would Pam Ward be on the list?

Cabrera to the Angels for all their stud prospects makes too much sense.

QUOTE(gosox41 @ Nov 7, 2007 -> 02:24 AM) Why? He's great now. But he's also getting fatter and lazier. Is this the make of a 'championship player' that KW speaks about. I predict he has montster years until he signs that huge FA contract as some team will be suckered and bamboozled into. Then he goes into a steady decline. They say he has a poor attitude and the fact that he's getting fatter every year is cause for concern IMHO. Bob He reminds me so much of Manny Ramirez. And if Ozzie can't keep Cabrera motivated, then he shouldn't be a manager.

QUOTE(Markbilliards @ Nov 7, 2007 -> 02:30 AM) Would you trade Bobby Jenks and Jon Danks for him? Absolutely

If you get the Big 10 Network, do yourself a favor, and put on the Illini game right now. Kenny Battle is the color commentator, and is absolutely, positively, the worst ever. -
Give up anyone and everyone in order to get him.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Nov 6, 2007 -> 07:13 PM) It's really not that hard to understand. Your trade proposal is quite ridiculous. Yes, Towers is going to trade a cheap, well-above average SS for a pitcher nearing 40 who is already breaking down and mediocre and a CFer who's ceiling (if everything goes right) is as a slightly above league average CFer. Makes a whole lot of sense. But if we're playing the "why not?" game, why not offer the Padres Contreras for Peavy. Afterall, why not? Maybe it'll go through on my MLB Power Pros game, though, I'll offer it up and come back to let you all know. I think we talked about this last week, but be prepared to want to scratch your cornea for the next few months with some of the ludicrous trade proposals thrown around.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Nov 6, 2007 -> 05:38 PM) Thats awful. I would rather have Uribe for one more year, have him in a contract year than be locked into a slightly better player for 2009. Yeah, that's quite ugly. For that amount of money, we really should have gone after Renteria then if we're serious about Wilson.
-
QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Nov 6, 2007 -> 05:24 PM) Although I feel Greene would cost more to get vs. Wilson. Absolutely....Wilson is the likely option.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 6, 2007 -> 05:19 PM) What's weird is, it seemed like the club had one of the best benches in baseball in 2006 - Mack, Ozuna, Cintron, Gload and Alomar. But with Ozuna's injury, Gload gone, Mack being traded, Alomar replaced by Hall and Cintron inexplicably falling apart... they suddenly had one of the worst benches in baseball in 2007 with the likes of Gonzalez, Hall, Terrero, Molina, etc. Well, that's also because our minor league system is so thin, especially offensively. I thought the team did a terrible job of utilizing the DL for guys like Cintron last year.
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Nov 6, 2007 -> 05:05 PM) Considering what it would cost to get any of these 2, I would prefer bringing Uribe back playing for a contract. He has a lot of ability. The White Sox need a major upgrade at SS, or I don't see the purpose. With that in mind, I hope that KW doesn't think that bringing in a new SS and CF is going to turn this team's fortunes around. We better be looking to upgrade our bench as well.

QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Nov 6, 2007 -> 04:48 PM) How do you figure Greene is a significantly better hitter than Wilson? I'm not a huge stats guy, but Wilson is a career .269 hitter, trending up. Greene is .254 for his career. Their walk rate is basically the same. Greene strikes out a ton more than Wilson. Their career on base % is identical. I guess I'm just very impressed with Greene when I watch him hit. I think he could easily be a 30-35 homer hitter with superb defense. However, I just talked with someone who's at the meetings, and he doesn't think Greene will be traded. I am intrigued though seeing a new guy at SS that might be able to help us against tough lefties, instead of seeing Uribe K on changeups in the dirt or popping up on the right side of the infield.

QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Nov 6, 2007 -> 03:22 PM) Reading what the press writes is the same as reading Soxtalk. It's all speculative except for the occasional fact like the Sox have til Wednesday to decide to pick up Uribe's option. Outside of that I put no credence whatsoever in it. It makes sense though that KW would want to know who his SS will be if they aren't going to pick up Uribe's option tomorrow.
-
QUOTE(BigEdWalsh @ Nov 6, 2007 -> 03:15 PM) If it's any of those guys, please let it be Jack Wilson. Sure, Khalil Greene would hit about 30 hrs, but his ba/obp probably wouldn't be that great and you could count on 130 or so Ks. The Sox don't need another guy like that. I like Jack Wilson...but Khalil is a significantly better hitter than he is. It's not like Jack is an OBP machine.

Miscellaneous "White Sox" Trade Notes

Am I the only one afraid of a Garland for Fuentes swap, with no real prospects added from the Rockies? -
And to think some people on here actually want this cancer on the Sox. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?...L&type=news

Khalil Greene would put up monster numbers in the Cell. I think Jack Wilson is an upgrade over Uribe, especially if Ozzie wants a team that he can put hit-and-runs on, etc.

I don't like the fact there's no mention of the Yankees paying some of Damon's salary, as well as the fact we'd play him in CF. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...-home-headlines -

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Nov 6, 2007 -> 02:35 AM) 6'8 215 pound Lance Thomas getting several minutes at center is going to be a treat to see. Singler seems to be the real deal though, and Henderson looks to have improved a lot. -

ASU won't be bad, as they should be a good rebounding team this year, and have one of the top frosh in the country in Harden. That should be a very low-scoring game. -

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Nov 6, 2007 -> 12:58 AM) Ok, first 20 minutes of seeing Derrick Rose, and I honestly feel like there's not a better player in college basketball. Can't be. He's absolutely amazing. Great size, great passing, great defense and hustle, no showboating. If he can shoot at all then look out college basketball. This years crop of frosh guards is absolutely amazing with Rose, Mayo, and Gordon leading the way. Rose can't shoot a lick though, so he'll struggle when the opposition slows the pace down. I've always thought he's behind Gordon and Mayo. -

An absolutely phenomenal final few minutes of the first half for Rose there. -
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 5, 2007 -> 05:01 PM) The names Gonzalez, Egbert, Danks and De Los Santos have undoubtedly come up in those talks. And none of those guys would I hesitate in trading for someone like Crawford.

QUOTE(Vance Law @ Nov 4, 2007 -> 08:14 PM) To me, what still doesn't make sense is, the Yankees risking the deal now, not knowing whether or not Crede can actually play. Also, the Sox making the trade now, while Crede's ability to play and play well are a question mark, at Crede's seemingly lowest possible trade value. You have to keep in mind that KW foolishly has no plans to rebuild. Thus, if he can get major league caliber players for someone like Crede, who he knows won't be with this franchise after this year, he'll jump at a trade.
-
QUOTE(striker62704 @ Nov 4, 2007 -> 08:03 PM) I don't see the Crede for Damon deal going down. How often do the rumored deals actually go down? I don't think I've ever heard a rumored deal go down. If you look at most of the past moves the Whitesox made we didn't see any of them coming: Buehrle Extended Dye Extended Pierzynski Extended McCarthy to the Rangers Freddy to the Phillies Cotts to the Cubs for Aardsma Vazquez from the Diamondbacks Thornton from the Mariners Thome from the Phillies for Rowand Were there any threads about any of these? We all had our thoughts on the extensions but everyone of us probably thought a trade was more likely than an extension. KW is full of suprises. Crede for Damon is not a suprise so it won't happen. There's a lot of buzz about the Crede for Damon trade, including Cashman stating he'd be willing to trade an outfielder not named Melky.
