  1. QUOTE(SoxFan77 @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 09:44 PM) KW is stupid enough to believe that we still have a shot.. Not make moves that help us going forward. He will again look for quick fixes so we can finish .500. Also I don't see us competing until 09/10 time and that is if KW starts now in the trading process and rebuilds this team.. if he can. KW doesn't think we have a shot.....he was trying to unload guys two months ago.
  2. I didn't mind the extension, as I would have never thought his stuff would deteriorate this much. Of course, I wanted the Sox to trade him for Adam Dunn after the WS season.
  3. QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 09:07 PM) As for the people who are angsting and concerned Podsednik will be back in 2008, I believe that ship has sailed. They want to retool the team. Yep, and KW is fed-up with Pods injury issues. On a side note, I hate saying this after a win, because it negates from the actual point, but this was one of Ozzie's best managed games this year. He took Danks out at the perfect time, he put in his closer in a situation to give his team a chance to win the game at home with one run in their last at-bat, and calling for the bunt from Fields.
  4. It's a joke right now that the Braves keep playing Franco at 1b.
  5. QUOTE(bigred3535 @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 08:15 PM) Baseball Prospectus just released their new prospect rankings for second base and Danny Richar was the 7th ranked prospect: I'm glad we have at least one position player in the upper minors to be kind of optimistic about. He's been tearing it up at AAA and could probably at least match Iguchi's production right now. I was against the Cunnigham trade at first but if Richar can hit .270/.340/.430 or higher in majors for us for a couple of years I'd say we'll have won it. Also, in case anyone's wondering, Chris Carter was the 5th rated first baseman. Are you sure it wasn't the Chris Carter in the Dbacks system?
  6. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 08:08 PM) Zumaya and Rodney will still be back before the playoffs hit. That's some heavy reinforcements Hasn't Rodney sucked all year?
  7. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 08:07 PM) I have been following the rest of the league a lot closer since the Sox have been out of it, and I still beleive the Braves-Mets-Pads(when Peavy and Young are both healthy) and maybe even the Phils have better squads than the Cubs. Peavy's the type of guy that seems to have to be 100 pct in order to be dominant. If not, he reverts more to being an average pitcher. I love the Phillies right now, but their pitching is just brutal. Their game last night was fun as hell to watch.
  8. I think Boston's the best team in the AL. Hawk keeps saying it's the Tigers, but then he talks about how the Sox could never be good this year because their bullpen has been bad. The Red Sox bullpen is amazing compared to the Tigers.
  9. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 08:00 PM) I am so pissed off right now. Come on Cubs ... start sucking :fthecubs The Cubs are the best team in baseball right now. It won't go on forever, will it? They're the best team in that division, and it's not even close. They have two guys in Zambrano and Lilly who just won't lose now, and they have a pretty strong bullpen that's avoided blowing games lately. And of course, we had to know that J. Jones would end up contributing to them after they tried to get rid of them. At this point, I've given up on them not making the playoffs, and I'm just rooting for the teams they'll have to play to upgrade at the deadline. Recent injuries to Peavy, Young, Lowe, and Beltran are the types of thing that I hope we don't see a lot of down the stretch.
  10. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 07:58 PM) Just wondering if you have been able to hear Hawk the last few innings, or see the zone. No, but someone just told me he's going nuts. Then again, why does it always have to be our announcer going nuts, and never our manager?
  11. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 07:56 PM) You able to watch today? Went to lunch for a few innings today.
  12. Our pitchers have sure struggled getting the 3rd out in an inning lately. It seems like the opposition gets a ton of 2 out runs.
  13. Cordero's suckiness on the road continues. Like the post above mentions, can we please close this thread?
  14. The Sox will sign Eckstein to play SS....and we'll have to hear how Hawk knew he was good, but not "this good".
  15. Gotta love that the Brewers keep letting the worst hitter in baseball over their last 50 at-bats leadoff. Good thing they went out and overpaid for an average set-up man instead of acquiring offense.
  16. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 05:07 AM) Well, that and the fact that he's slowed down, his bat has slowed down, and he isn't getting younger. I don't think I'm going to want anything to do with him after this season. I'm open to the possibility, but I doubt it. Put him in LF, and put Sweeney out in RF. But trust me, if we trade him, I won't be upset (unless we get Jon Adkins back).
  17. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 05:03 AM) I agree with this, but on the other hand, with the way the OF currently looks for next season, Dye actaully looks like a decent option. (That is if the Sox think they can compete next season, which I think they do....) I'm 100 pct in agreement with this.
  18. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 05:02 AM) I might not be opposed to that if he's good for the rest of the year, but we need to get cheaper, younger and faster, not take gambles on relatively old guys who have been slowing down for years and are likely to keep slowing down. We can get younger and faster in LF, CF, SS, and 2B. Maybe it's me, but Dye's really struggled this year trying to play for the big contract.
  19. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 04:54 AM) I don't think they'd give up Adam Jones, but I don't see Jeff Clement talked about the same way that I do other top prospects (maybe I'm not looking hard enough?). I'd love to have Clement -- his numbers don't look that great considering he's hitting in the PCL, but his .850 OPS is still better than anything we have at the catcher spot. Dye + Contreras + $$$ (say, half of Conde's contract) for Clement? Yep, Clement is the guy who I looked up once I saw this rumor. I don't think the Mariners will give up Jones. O'Flaherty is a young pitcher that really impresses me also.
  20. Anyone ever make it to the final level of Super Mario 3? I went back and played it last year, and the last level is so intense.
  21. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 04:49 AM) It doesn't really need to be said, but PLEASE let some GM get a little ancy at the deadline and do the same for Dye. I've been saying this for the last week or so (and probably at this point, sounding like a broken record), but Dye picked the perfect time to get hot. I also hate to put injuries in any positive light whatsoever, but Valentin's injury for the Mets may have created a market for Iguchi. Speaking of Tad, I'd be very surprised if the Indians weren't asking about him -- Barfield has been awful for the Tribe (OPS of .611). Some team is going to get a very dangerous hitter in Dye, and probably for an average package. I actually am not against offering him a 2 year, 20 million dollar deal. However, I think he wants a longer-term contract. Whatever happens, we better not trade him to the Cubs.
  22. It always pissed me off when the orange car would take off in RC Pro-Am.
  23. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 04:42 AM) Well if that's the case, I still wouldn't mind trading for him. He's been an outstanding reliever in his short career -- ERA under 2.50 -- so he'll almost certainly qualify as a type A free agent. The Sox could also resign him, he'd be awesome to have in front of Jenks. However, if Rosenthal is right about the Rangers wanting a major league ready CFer, we don't really have that. Then again, who's going to give up a good major league ready CFer for a reliever rental (one who's hurt at the moment, too)? The scary thing is that the Linebrink deal made the market seem so much more desperate than what we've heard. That was a ton to give up for a set-up man to pitch for you for 59 games. Who knows what people will give up.
  24. According to what I found online, Otsuka is a FA after this year.
