  1. Has no one made mention of a former Sox champion playing for Tampa tonight?
  2. I've just about had enough of the Mackowiak Sox era, which has been a disappointment. We should be able to trade him for some low level prospect.
  3. I like the swing by Fields, and great base running by Thome. BTW, my dream lineup next year has Thome batting 2nd, but I know that won't happen.
  4. Very interesting article, especially with Ozzie saying something would have to happen this week and that Contreras would wave his NTC. Maybe I'm naive, but we'll know which direction Sox are going in tomorrow.
  5. Gonzalez sees about 10 pitches, and Pods can't try to steal 2nd base. He's back to being a zero tool player.
  6. Speaking of Richar, he's not playing tonight for Charlotte. Any possibility that Iguchi is going to be traded, and he's getting the call up?
  7. This one game won't have an impact on Buehrle's value. However, all the rumors/speculations surrounding him over the last week is one of the reasons that KW's ignorant comments during the offseason about having everyone on the team test the market is so dumb. Good job Pods....you're such a smart baseball player.
  8. I'm really struggling with why Cintron is still on this team.
  9. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 12:21 AM) Not a good night for the scouts to be watching Mark Could this season get more annoying? We finally heard "good" news today, and it ended up being bogus.
  10. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 11:44 PM) PR f***ing nightmare, and the Sox know it. Yep, you give him 5/70, and you worry about the rest of the team. It's times like this I'm pissed we extended Javy.
  11. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 08:45 PM) Then that begs the question, why wouldn't he sign the extension last summer before the ridiculous contracts were passed out? It certainly wasn't for much less than what the Score is reporting. Who knows what type of family stuff is going on, as well as maybe he's been told that the Cardinals don't have the resources to go after him?
  12. Roland Hemond was scouting at the Dodgers/Dbacks game last night.
  13. QUOTE(briguy27 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 08:34 PM) Bruce Levine is saying he talked to Buehrle's agent. Buehrle HAS NOT agreed on anything That's a lot different than saying there's been no discussions. With Hahn going to Tampa this afternoon, it wasn't likely a deal has been agreed upon anyways.
  14. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 08:14 PM) Maybe Hahn is going to Tampa to ask the Count face to face to waive his no trade. or to go face Buerhle and the rest of the team to let them know what's going on.
  15. Back to being pessimistic after reading the agent say that they won't talk until after the season.
  16. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 07:38 PM) Fathom, thats a little under 2 years that you have followed him. The guy isnt even 20 years old yet, and he definitely has shown signs of improvement offensively. He put a few moves on the pistons in the playoffs that were not dunks, he consistently went hard to the basket, he hit some free throws. Thomas has plenty of talent and will make strides. Im not saying he is in the same category as Stoudamire, because he isnt(yet), but you act as if he isnt anything, and that isnt the case. Amare Stoudemire is an offensive force....Tyrus Thomas is an athletic player right now. I'm not saying Thomas won't become a good player, but he doesn't have the tools to really be a low post scorer in the NBA. With what the Bulls need right now and their window wide open in the Eastern conference, this deal would make a ton of sense. I think Skiles has been wanting to get rid of Gordon since the day he came in.
  17. QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 07:16 PM) At that close of a range.. ie. a dunk... no, not really. Stoudemire at least has a nice touch around the rim and gets to the FT line. Tyrus Thomas is a threat to break the backboard with every shot he takes. I've followed Tyrus since his 2nd week of games at LSU, and he's shown very little improvement in terms of offensive ability.
  18. QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 07:13 PM) HELLLOOOOO!!! I said that their styles were similar and that it wouldn't be much a a "game" improvement. 1)Neither can make a shot past the arc 2)Both are very explosive inside 3)Both are close in height 4) Both are close in age Stoudamire brings nothing in skill that Thomas doesn't bring. If Thomas added 20 pounds of muscle, you'd see more similarities. Wow....I assume being able to put the ball in the basket isn't a skill?
  19. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 06:37 PM) The Sox didn't say "there's no deal," they said "there's no official announcement." Basically, like the government saying "we can neither confirm nor deny that" with classified information. If the Score's source(s) are sticking to their guns, then they see no reason not to continue reporting the information they're receiving. If the Sox knew there was no chance of a deal and nothing imminent, then they would have repeated KW's line that he doesn't negotiate during the season. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 06:39 PM) yeah, its about 5 million less than what he could make per year on the open market, but not all baseball players are greedy snobs, some are just good guys. And a four year deal now still gives him a chance, if he wants to, to sign with the Cardinals when he should still have something left in the tank. It's funny, but I was going to say if he'll take 4 yrs, the Sox should be offering 65 to 70 million.
  20. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 05:01 PM) Whether Buehrle is signed or not (ignoring everything within the last 13 pages), I would then expect Garland to be traded. Regardless of Williams labeling him unavailable, we NEED an influx of young talent on this team somehow. Someone with value has to be dealt. Contreras won't be enough. Vazquez might have more value than Garland due to having more years left on his deal. I really wish we trade Thome, especially since we don't even know the extent of his back injuries (according to Hawk).
  21. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 04:55 PM) If you believe Ken Rosenthal on White Sox related things, you have a very short memory. What was he wrong about, the Garland to Rangers deal? That one obviously had some legs to it. QUOTE(29thandPoplar @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 04:55 PM) A radio station report saying a deal is "basically done" doesn't mean it has to be announced immediately. It could be a few days at least. I'm going to sit back and see what happens before condemning any sources, radio stations, etc. The story hasn't played out yet. Yep, especially with Buehrle pitching tonight, as well as the possibility we might try and complete a trade of another starting pitcher before we throw more money into the deal.
  22. QUOTE(29thandPoplar @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 04:52 PM) So, where it stands now is no one believes 670 but people are believing the AM 1000 report? I believe Ken Rosenthal a hell of a lot more than Bruce Levine.
  23. "No official announcement" is promising.....I swear though, if this all falls through, I'm going back to being Mr. Pessimism.
  24. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 04:46 PM) OK, so apparently this isn't true. But, if there were some truth to it, why the hell would we even re-sign Buehrle anyway? We absolutely need to trade the vets for good prospects. That is, unless we planned on trading the rest of the rotation besides Danks. Trade Contreras and Vazquez....that's a good start.
  25. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 04:45 PM) Ok, last speculative comment right here. If Buehrle does come on and says he signed an extension then he went behind his agent's back to get a deal done on his own. Am I being overly optimistic though if I say I think the chances are 100 pct greater today than 24 hours ago that Buehrle would stay with the Sox?
