  1. That's the Jim Thome late inning unclutchness that the Jim Thome sucks in the 9th inning and on fan club was based on.
  2. QUOTE(daa84 @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 03:34 AM) im starting to become a serious skeptic....like most others i want to believe in him...and he has had some good ABs....but its getting to the point where he is starting to develop a decent sample size at the major league level....this isnt to say he cant become a productive hitter...but im starting to be a bit more skeptical than i was before what i really dont understand though are the owens believers...even if he has 20 SBs It just seems like Richar would ground out 400 times in a season if he got 600 at-bats. He's fast, but not fast enouh where he's going to beat out enough infield choppers to get a batting average like Juan Pierre, etc. Basically, I'm sick of slap hitters, and want legitimate big league hitters that can get more than 20 extra base hits in a season.
  3. I must be the only person, it seems like, who's not a fan of Richar.
  4. Good time for Braun to show up in this series. Pinella just left Zambrano out there to die, especially with Marmol warming up in a strikeout situation.
  5. Garland just gives up so many hits with two strikes these days.
  6. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 01:26 AM) You did kind of start the bandwagon, but your not the only one to notice. I got into a screaming match with my dad about Thome and late innings. He feels you can't count on him late, stats be damned. I bring that up because he doesn't even visit Soxtalk(well, sometimes) so the thought is not yours alone. I'm just waiting for him to do something to win us a game in the 9th inning, and if it goes extras.
  7. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 01:19 AM) And all 18 of those times he was un-clutch, remember that. I feel bad that I was the initial member of the "Thome isn't clutch" fan club, but I feel like it's gotten too big and the initial mission statement I had is no longer being followed.
  8. Remember when we had the question about which player would you like to punch.....J. Estrada would be my vote.
  9. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 12:56 AM) If Harris played for the White Sox this year, he wouldn't have done half as well as he did this year. Holy cow.....please explain this.
  10. What a shocker...Ben Sheets has a blister problem. And the Cubs got ANOTHER huge break on a play at 3rd base where Soriano was out.
  11. I just wanted to thank Oswalt for returning to face the Cardinals tonight, and the missing the Cubs this wknd.
  12. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Aug 29, 2007 -> 03:41 AM) Just another day in the worst baseball season of my life. It's just beginning.
  13. QUOTE(greg775 @ Aug 29, 2007 -> 04:31 AM) Is there one Sox fan out there who thinks MacDougal should be on this team next year? I'd do a poll, but I don't know how. Get rid of that bum. Geez. I think he should be....just never let Toby Hall catch him again.
  14. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 29, 2007 -> 03:25 AM) worst team in baseball, and nobody's getting fired I hope they don't feel like overspending on Hunter is going to solve the other 10 holes or so they have.
  15. I wonder if this was the lowest rated game, in terms of audience, the Sox have had in years? Between the game being on CSN Plus, and the Cubs game, doesn't seem like many would want to watch it.
  16. Just DL Pods and call up Sweeney. It's embarassing to this franchise to have 11 healthy bodies on the offensive end.
  17. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 29, 2007 -> 03:18 AM) Aren't they paying him next year? They should have just let him have the surgery. Just eat the money, and go find someone who can contribute. It's probably too late for him to have surgery and be ready for ST.
  18. So, if the Cubs make the playoffs, I want to see them play either the Padres or Mets. The Mets seems like a longshot, as either the Braves or Phillies would have to make a big run to make the WC. I just hope that Peavy, Young, and Webb can stay healthy the rest of the way.
  19. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 29, 2007 -> 03:14 AM) I hope for his sake its because of his injury. Molina was one of the worst hitters I've ever seen, but at least he could catch a little. Back up White Sox catchers have 2 RBI this year. That is incredible. Molina looked like 5 times the hitter Hall's been this year. I'd rather they just release him this offseason.
  20. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 29, 2007 -> 03:11 AM) That's so bad, they will probably score. Has any position player ever had a worse year than Toby Hall, offensively and defensively? He has to be the worst position player in the majors at this time. Nope, he's been absolutely worthless in every possible way.
  21. So, I think I just heard the most depressing comment of the year: the Sox have Gonzalez, Hall, and Erstad to try and tie the game in the 9th.
  22. BTW, Tampa with a huge inning late in the game to win. I'm just saying, it's not the worst thing in the world if we don't pull this game out.
  23. Richar is a groundball machine. Like I've said elsewhere, he's fine at #9 next year as long as there's no Owens in the lineup.
  24. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 29, 2007 -> 02:47 AM) Maybe I'll do so, just because. Man, could you imagine a series between the Braves and the Cubs right now, it'd be like the two best teams ever against each other. I'd be a bigger fan of the Braves than Pratt could ever be in that situation.
  25. If someone opens up a "Love for Cardinals" thread, they should be banned.
