At least Gross didn't get any good pitches to hit.

I've never seen more fastballs swung on and missed in a game from a team.

Is it me, or did the ump just call a strike on the 1-1 pitch to Braun that he didn't give to Linebrink one f***ing time?

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Aug 29, 2007 -> 02:15 AM) You guys go ahead and keep rooting for this loser franchise (haven't had a winning season since 1992.) I've been with the Cards since the beginning, however I would like to see St. Louis gain some ground on the Cubs. Tell your Brewers to straighten up already. I'd much rather see the Cards than the Brewers. I can't stand the team. However, I'd root for Al Qaeda if it meant the Cubs didn't win the World Series.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Aug 29, 2007 -> 02:07 AM) and to top it off, the Brewers offense does not do s*** after the first four innings. 14 losses this year when leading by 3 or more runs....that's f***ing awful. It's the same thing every game. Yost leaves his starter in one batter too long, the offense doesn't show up after the first few innings, and the bullpen can't get the big out.

If I had the chance, I'd punch Ned Yost in the f***ing face. He honestly should have been fired a week ago...his decision-making is brutal, and his team has flat-out quit on him.

Luckiest f***ing team I've ever seen. Yet, some people will stay say there's nothing to worry about. I guess I'm watching a different team than others, as they get every single break possible.

Kudos to Pinella for not having Jones bunt lately in big situations. What a crock of s*** that Jones is their best player right now, and MLB made him stay on the team.

What a f***ing joke. Ned Yost is the worst f***ing manager ever. Why let Jones face a righty when you have a good lefty in the bullpen. Like I said earlier, it's Cardinals or bust right now.

Excellent start by Suppan....too bad he tried to go inside on Floyd when he's had the offspeed stuff working all game. Will this be the 14th game the Brewers have lost in which they led by 3 or more this year?

Sox vs. Texas Aug.28/07
Is that 14 homers allowed in 40 or so innings?

Exhibit 50000 why Wrigley Field is a dump on that freak play near the wall. Suppan is in trouble, as this is usually where he loses his command.

For anyone watching the Brewers/Cubs game: - what a terrible pitch selection with Hill up and a runner on 2nd. You had to know he'd be hacking at a first-pitch fastball. - Ryan Theriot seems to always start rallies for the Cubs in the 6th or 7th inning....he's leading off the 6th, is there any chance he makes an out?

Sox vs. Texas Aug.28/07
Thome keeps inching towards 500. Was that another inside fastball thrown to Kinsler? He's destroyed us on that pitch in his career so far.

Who would you like to see fired the most?
BTW, why are you so sure they won't offer Renteria for Garland? They already did this year, and it's a definite possibility again this offseason.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 29, 2007 -> 01:07 AM) Uh, because Mike Gonzalez is very good and they couldn't really have foreseen his injury and they wanted to build up the bullpen. It wasn't a bad move at all especially since they got Lillibridge. But no, LaRoche wouldn't have made a big difference at first this year. He hasn't been that good at all. That trade "killed the Braves"? Give me a break. They got such little production from Thorman to start the year. Now, they're severely lacking in starting pitching. Who knows what type of starting pitchers they might have been able to acquire if they still had someone like Salty to offer. There were all sorts of concerns about Mike Gonzalez's elbow last year, as his velocity started to decrease.

QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ Aug 29, 2007 -> 01:01 AM) For me ..... no WGN ....... no visuals. He comes straight over the top, doesn't he? You would think this would help him be deceptive, given a reasonable skill at changing speeds. What is it about his release that is makes him easy to pick up? He just seems to have the ball in the hitter's view the entire time. I know they talked about changing his mechanics during ST....it's still damn ugly.

How many 91 fastballs right down the plate can one team swing through in a game?
-
Who would you like to see fired the most?
Pratt....how come you never mention that the LaRoche for Gonzalez trade killed the Braves this year? Gonzalez was a non-factor due to the injury, and because the lack of production they were getting from Thorman at 1b, they had to trade a huge package to get Teixeira. LaRoche hasn't been great this year, but I never understood why they were so eager to get rid of him.

Floyd's release point almost makes me vomit. It looks like it's so easy to pick up out of his hand.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Aug 28, 2007 -> 10:59 PM) John Smoltz is a consumate professional and team player. He's as tough as nails. He beat the Astros in the playoffs with his shoulder aching beyond belief and put himself out of the playoffs with his gutsy performance, should the Braves have advanced that year. Today he's pitching on short rest against the Marlins for the Braves. I appreciate his willingness to go, considering his age and he IS a power pitcher, and it's nice that the Braves have a guy who they can go to in situations like these who can and will go out and do all he can, but I question the soundness of such a decision. I'm not sure I believe they'll make it to the playoffs (I am almost certain they won't win the division this year), considering their rough rotation past Smoltz/Hudson, but I guess they really do, and they're going to battle, and Smoltz thinks it's worth it. Good for him. I can't believe I went a long time with Smoltz as my LEAST favorite of the Big Three. I expect the Braves to be really good next year with someone like Silva or Livan Hernandez in the 3/4 spot, probably a big trade, a fresher bullpen (volatile though they can be, certain teams are good at building bullpens and the Padres/Braves are those), and a good lineup. Should be interesting to see. That book really must be your Bible.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Aug 28, 2007 -> 10:05 PM) So you would rather be the Oakland A's or Minnesota Twins of the past 7 years instead of the Sox? Interesting. ..and the easiest answer isn't KW because his job is toughest spot to fill. How hard would it be to find another pitching or hitting coach over a GM? Greg Walker should be the one on the hot seat, and it's not even close. However, like I said yesterday, it's like the 4 guys are a package deal, and it's all of them or nothing.
