  1. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 04:37 PM) Offman is FOS. And I'm going further to say that there was never ever anthing to support this bs. So where do you think Ken Rosenthal was getting his information? I wonder if the same source that said the 99 pct quote over the weekend is the same one starting this today.
  2. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 04:30 PM) It's almost surely a move by the Sox to use the media to bump up Buehrle's trade value. If true, they're even dumber and more arrogant than I thought they were. The timing was definitely not right for something like this, as our fans are pissed off enough with things.
  3. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 04:26 PM) If this turns out to be false, and given the large number of people falling for it (not just WSCR), there is another possibility to consider here. The Sox may have done this intentionally to expose the "source" - like a mole hunt. I wouldn't put it past KW. Just a thought. No way the Sox would do this, as it only makes their fans more upset if Buehrle is eventually traded.
  4. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 04:20 PM) In my very STRONG opinion, this is bulls*** - and not just the reported deal but that they are even talking at all right now - and I hope there is backlash. I'd like to revise my opinion... no way in hell this is true. Might it be something started by the Sox and Buehrle's camp to try and show he would have been willing to take less money to stay here? In the end, KW will trade Buehrle and say the package was just to good to not do. Unfortunately, with this rumor seemingly being BS, it's just another s***ty moment for Sox fans this year.
  5. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 04:21 PM) wasnt offman pulled off the baseball beat for making up BS? I think it was due to the Maddux to the Yankees rumors that had started before he signed with the Cubs again, and Offman said he had confirmed them. In reality, Steinbrenner was trying to find the leak in his organization, and he started that rumor himself to see who would screw up.
  6. There seems to be a certain source who's telling people that 4/50 is a possibility. I highly doubt someone with as many connections as Ken Rosenthal is reporting what he's hearing on the Score.
  7. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 03:25 PM) Alright my extreme joy as turned to total concern here...WTF. I know this may be dumb question but any chance KW does a sign and trade to get more for Buehrle? Nope, not a chance in hell.
  8. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 03:23 PM) I think someone is trying to be a hero on a scoop, and will be dead freaking wrong. If that's the case, you people should raid the score. Yes, but not even an idiot would suggest 4/50.
  9. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 03:19 PM) I'm telling you, something doesn't smell right about this. Hey, I could be wrong, but this is almost TOO GOOD of a deal. Ugh...just 5 minute ago, I was much more confident.
  10. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 03:12 PM) Holy s***!!! 4/50??????????? That seems too good to believe. That would be beyond awesome. I predict we see one more start from Jose Contreras in his Sox career.
  11. If true, I might have to go to the Baltimore game next week and give Mr. Buehrle a standing ovation.
  12. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 03:09 PM) Interesting they didn't even have to go 5. I'm guessing there are going to be some unique clauses involved in it that could make it worth quite a bit. I was thinking they'd go to 4 years, but raise the price (like how Dodgers did it with Furcal). If 4/50 is true, that's an amazing deal. And FWIW, the information I was talking about was that 3 different minor league scouts reported this morning that they asked their teams specifically about whether or not they should continue to scout players for the possibility of Buehrle being traded, and they were told that they absolutely should, and that the ST article was bogus.
  13. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 03:02 PM) 4 years $50 million Is that what they're offering?
  14. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 02:57 PM) Score just saying the deal is nearly done to resign Buehrle. You know what I hate during these situations: when numerous media outlets jump on one article in the paper, and then they all report it in different ways. However, I'd assume that the Score has their own people getting information, and that would be good news. Even though I said before that I'm doubtful things are as close as Cowley reported, I'd be thrilled beyond belief if they signed him. As someone just mentioned, this would be a great sign that we're still serious about fielding a competitive team for the next few years.
  15. FWIW, I just heard some information that makes me believe this article is a lot more speculative than it is fact. Let's just say that teams still don't think there's a chance that Buehrle signs an extension before testing free agency.
  16. This would be great news, especially if it's a result of getting rid of Contreras. However, last time we saw a promising article like this, there was a story the very next day stating he was 100 pct going to be traded.
  17. Is Roland Hemond still working for the Sox? If so, he was scouting at the Dodgers/DBacks game.
  18. Good news tonight as Gappard and Billingsley were bad....that only makes the demand for Buehrle go up even higher.
  19. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 02:08 AM) Just great #1 pick is sliding away, we got the Cubs hot so we have to hear about that s*** and the Brewers are losing. Let's just hope the Brewers play well this weekend. If not, it's very possible the Cubs could be in first place come the ASB, as they get the Nats and Pirates next week.
  20. Please...please...please....don't warm up Jenks.
  21. With Gonzalez showing he can play all over, can we please DFA Cintron or DL him?
  22. QUOTE(JohnCangelosi @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 01:23 AM) Probably my favorite moment of the 2005 run It's my favorite sports moment in history....absolutely surreal.
  23. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 11:42 PM) Uribe with a triple! I've seen it all! He's hitting better now. However, I'm not so sure that's for the best, as I honestly believe we need to go a new direction at the double play combo slots next year.
  24. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 11:39 PM) Why exactly is Cintron, who has some arm issues, playing 3rd base. That .500 OPS with no clutch hits and terrible defense is invaluable.
  25. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 11:32 PM) 49 K's in the last 38 innings for our offense. The most insulting thing to us Sox fans this year has to be that Greg Walker still has a job.
