  1. QUOTE(quickman @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 03:10 AM) and he loves the sox because we have developed so many great players? I actually believe you about your source, but I do not think GM's actaully do alot of scouting. I think they put a plan forward and have there best people execute the plan. I think the sox scouts are mediocre at best and I also think there are not enough of them. Its the system that fails not necesarily the GM. He loves the Sox because he grew up in the south suburbs.
  2. Can I answer Jim Thome for both?
  3. Cool...we can continue to play with a 24 man roster.
  4. His D has been just fine so far....why do people make it sound like it's been a major issue?
  5. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 02:36 AM) Buerhle Iguchi Pedroia Pena #2 or #3 best BoSox SP prospect Am I the only one who thinks that'd be a horses*** trade? Did you just make that up? It would be a bad trade.
  6. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 02:18 AM) I think the deal will be Crisp and Hansen. And, yes, that would be a bad trade. At least it should be fun reading back over the posts where people demanded 3 top 20 prospects for Buehrle. If it's Crisp and Hansen, then I don't see how KW will still be the Sox's GM after the season ends.
  7. Boston might be more willing to give up more for Buehrle because then they'll be able to re-sign him before teams like the Yankees or Mets can get their bids in.
  8. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 02:12 AM) probably... him, Verlander, and Miller will own us for a while... and Bonderman
  9. QUOTE(spiderman @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 02:13 AM) If/when we trade Buerhle, you can pretty much eliminate the White Sox from being a serious contender in the AL Central until/unless some of their younger arms - John Denks for one - steps up, and helps fill Buerhle's missing numbers. We know what Vazquez is, and that's a #4 starter. Garland seems to be getting better still, though he'll never be better than a #2 and somewhere in the #2-#3 range. Contreras has a good outing here and there, but he might be 40+ years old. With the rotation that Detroit has, barring injuries, they are the team to beat for the forseeable future, and Cleveland is right behind them. With or without Buehrle, that's true. That's why you try and trade these guys for some young prospects, and not focus on the next 2-3 years.
  10. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 02:12 AM) Iguchi is a terrible defensive 2B. His arm strength is all but gone and he has no range to speak of not to mention all the odd mental mistakes he seems to make out there. One of those things that I don't even know how people can argue otherwise.
  11. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 02:11 AM) Thome & Konerko - yes. Dye is old and looks older all the time. Iguchi freaking blows. AJ looks to pull every freaking pitch. He is a good catcher, but not the most talented hitter. Dye and Iguchi were the two best offensive players at their position in the AL last year. And if AJ is pulling everything, then isn't that Greg Walker's job to get him fixed? If anything, AJ is a poor defensive catcher, but a talented hitter.
  12. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 02:08 AM) Thome, Konerko, A.J., Dye, and Iguchi do not qualify as real talent? There's no point in the arguing this anymore. Greg Walker has one job, and the results from his job are terrible this year.
  13. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 02:03 AM) Looks like indeed we'll have to add Porcello. No shock...that team's going to be phenomenal. Miller was throwing 96 mph in the 6th inning.
  14. I was telling Cubs fans before the series that the Sox suck, and I'll just repeat that tomorrow.
  15. QUOTE(Brian @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 01:15 AM) Ozzie He could kill someone, and he'd still get GPratt's support.
  16. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 01:17 AM) I wouldn't be surprised to see Craig Hansen involved in any deal. He's got some scary-bad numbers. Lowrie/Kottaras/Hansen, here we come!
  17. If you want to get really drunk on a Sunday night, take a shot for every time Joe Morgan goes out of his way to praise a minority.
  18. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 01:13 AM) First pick here we come! From what I have heard about Pedro Alvarez, I so hope we get the no. 1 pick. I want us to get the worst record. Indeed. This weekend was the last time I really cared if we won or lost.
  19. Are there even any rumors as to who VKM's killer might be? I saw my 8 year old cousin last weekend, and he was distraught about Vince's passing.
  20. BTW, it's too bad UC-Irvine didn't face Oregon St in the finals. The Beavers-'Eaters scoreboard would have been a classic. Also, the Verlander/Bonderman/Miller trio is going to be just filthy.
  21. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 01:03 AM) Cough Arod Cough. Well Arod is still the best player in the game. In a Sunday Night game a month ago, Joe Morgan gave a 5 minute speech about why Sheffield is not only the best hitter in the game, but also the best clubhouse person and possibly deserving of a Nobel Peace Prize.
  22. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 01:01 AM) My guess is there was some debate...Shaffer was backing ring, most of the org was backing Blanton but the org let Shaffer make the call and he opted with his guy (afterall while Kenny has the final call, when it came to the draft Shaffer really was the guy who for the most part is making the call). I just know one thing...I freaking loved the way the draft worked out for the club this year. Now this is from a 100 pct accurate source....the 3rd round pick of the Sox was supposedly told by the Cubs and Devil Rays he'd be picked in the 2nd room. He was upset that he wasn't picked in the 2nd round, but he was thrilled when the team he loves picked him in the 3rd.
  23. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 12:57 AM) John Schuerholz is such an interesting and amazing guy. It must have pained Joe Morgan to say that Pujols was the best hitter, and not Gary Sheffield.
  24. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 12:56 AM) That seems awful shady. If Kenny and the org told the Shaffer to take Blanton and he took another guy than I think he'd have been fired on the spot. It's going to be interesting to see if either KW or Shaffer start trying to justify things in the media.
  25. QUOTE(Jake @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 12:54 AM) How about Weeks and Braun for Buehrle and Iguchi? A little less lopsided. You're not going to get either guy for Buehrle, and throwing in a terrible defensive 2nd baseman who's a FA after this year isn't going to help. I bet the Brewers are scouting the Sox for Thornton.
